Tribute to KIAN PIRFALA, 9 years old and victim of the Islamic Republic's savagery 10 years ago.

Editorial by G. d'A.: Dear reader, as a webmaster also I constantly have to guard the read-ability of the 'Cryfreedom'-outlet and sometimes decisions need to be made to have it be for your convenience and moreso in total support of the women-led revolt in Iran which inevitably will be a grand Victory. Still, choices must be made always and so I've decided to, for now, embed all the actual news about the 'NO-hijab; 'Biological terror attscks against schoolgirls'; 'Iranian journalists under siege'; 'Blinding as a weapon' and 'The hanging spree' as part of the 'Actual news' updates of the Iran 'Woman, Life, Freedom' section. But, if need be and urgent attention and action is needed concerning the above mentioned topics it will get an extra emphasized place as part of the actual news page-layout. Narges Mohammadi
Jinha - September 16, 2024
<<Message from Narges Mohammadi for Jina Mahsa Amini
"From Kurdistan to Sistan and Baluchestan, and from Tehran to Azerbaijan and Khuzestan, people with diverse voices have come together to challenge the very foundations of tyranny."
News Center- "Today, we raise our voices louder and strengthen our resolve," Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi said in a message on the second anniversary of the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini that sparked the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" uprising in Iran.
Her message is as follows:
"Two years have passed since the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini and the magnificent and powerful movement of "Women, Life, Freedom." In these two difficult and agonizing years, although the wounds have left marks on the bodies of those exhausted and tormented by oppression, discrimination, and tyranny, and despite the challenging road ahead, we all know that nothing is as it was before. The people feel the greatest change in their beliefs, lives, and society. A change that, while it has not yet toppled the Islamic Republic regime, has shaken the foundations of religious tyranny.
The "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement has made the people's disillusionment with the regime so visible that a presidential candidate, during a live debate, admitted, "Which people are we talking about? The 60 percent who were unwilling to go to the polls." The "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement has redefined the people's role in confronting tyrannical rule, imposing a new understanding that instills fear within this theocratic regime.
From Kurdistan to Sistan and Baluchestan, and from Tehran to Azerbaijan and Khuzestan, people with diverse voices have come together to challenge the very foundations of tyranny. On the second anniversary of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, we reaffirm our commitment to achieving democracy, freedom, and equality and to defeating theocratic despotism.
Today, we raise our voices louder and strengthen our resolve.
I call on international institutions and people around the world not only to observe but to take active action. I urge the United Nations to end its silence and inaction in the face of the devastating oppression and discrimination by theocratic and authoritarian governments against women by criminalizing gender apartheid. The liberation of women from the grip of oppression and discrimination is essential for empowering the force that drives peace and democracy." >>

Pakhshan Azizi
Jinha - September 16, 2024
<<Letter from Pakhshan Azizi: The philosophy of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi is a philosophy of life
"The philosophy of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi is a philosophy of life," said Pakhshan Azizi in a letter from Evin prison, marking the second anniversary of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" uprising in Iran.
News Center- Journalist Pakhshan Azizi, who was sentenced to death on July 23, 2024 and imprisoned in Evin prison, sent a letter from Evin prison on the second anniversary of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" uprising that sparked in Iran and Rojhilat following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran's so-called <morality police> in Tehran. "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi is a philosophy of life," Pakhshan Azizi said in the letter, vowing to strengthen the women's struggle for freedom.
'The 21st century will be the century of women's revolution'
Pakhshan Azizi pointed to women's leading role in society, stressing that the social role of men should be redefined and there is no happiness for both sexes until gender equality is achieved. "The struggle for gender-based equality is an ethical-political struggle against sexism that has become a tool of governments," her letter said, stressing that the 21st century will be "the century of women's revolution."
'People are determined to ensure freedom'
Under current conditions, redesigning and reforming existing systems is insufficient to ensure freedom, Pakhshan Azizi stressed in her letter. "The systems must be completely changed. Women's Revolution is not an action for reform, but for a radical, theoretical and scientific action. As women, we have common sense and language. We are capable of making radical and comprehensive changes if we fight against the patriarchal mindset together, in solidarity with each other."
'The philosophy of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi is not a philosophy of death but of life'
"Ignoring women is an ideological approach and that a strong ideological struggle should be waged against it," Pakhshan Azizi said, emphasizing that sexism, scientism, religionism and nationalism target the whole society by targeting women. "The philosophy of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi is not a philosophy of death but of life. It is a scientific revolution actualized by Jineology. This philosophy embraced by people must not be allowed to be deflected at any price. For our revolutionary martyrs, we should build a society that creates democratic families, preserves its culture, and has revolutionary consciousness." >>

Protests in Women's Ward of Evin
NCRI - Womens committee - 16 Sept 2024 - in Women's News
<<PMOI Supporters Commemorate the Anniversary of the 2022 Iran Protests in Women’s Ward of Evin
PMOI supporters honored the Anniversary of the 2022 Iran Protests in the Women's Ward of Evin Prison despite being detained at the hands of the clerical regime. Supporters of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) held a ceremony in the women's ward of Evin Prison, marking the second anniversary of the 2022 Iran protests, sparked by the tragic death of Mahsa Zhina Amini. The participants paid tribute to all the martyrs of the uprising. Some of the prisoners delivered speeches about the significance of the 2022 Iran protests. The political prisoners in the women's ward of Evin Prison honored the pivotal role of the freedom-seeking pioneers in spreading the chants of "Death to the oppressor, whether it be the Shah or the (mullahs' Supreme) Leader" across the country. Some attendees, who had personally witnessed scenes from the 2022 uprising, shared their memories of those intense moments.
Commemoration of the 2022 Iran protests in Ghezel Hesar Prison
Political prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, also commemorated the second anniversary of the 2022 uprising. The ceremony began with a tribute to Mahsa Zhina Amini and other fallen protesters, continuing with poetry recitations and songs. The prisoners chanted slogans such as, "Torture and imprisonment, the decrees of Bagh-ye and execution, only fuel the uprising," "Iran's pioneers, and the martyrs of September will uproot every tyrant," "Our message from prison is resistance and continuing the fight," "Death to Khamenei, curse on Khomeini," and "Khamenei, you tyrant, we will bring you down."
House Arrest of the Amini Family and Martial Law in Saqqez
While political prisoners in two of Khamenei's most notorious prisons marked the second anniversary of the 2022 uprising, outside the prison walls, security forces blocked any commemorative events for Mahsa Amini. They prevented the Amini family from visiting her grave. Authorities ordered the family to stay indoors under house arrest. Additionally, security forces sealed all roads leading to the Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez. The Revolutionary Guard Corps stationed troops along the route, while five military helicopters patrolled the skies above the city.
Bazaar Merchants Threatened to Break Strikes
Merchants in several cities across Kurdistan, including Sanandaj, Saqqez, Divandarreh, Marivan, Mahabad, Bukan, Oshnaviyeh, Qorveh, and Piranshahr, went on strike, closing their shops to mark the second anniversary of the 2022 uprising. Security forces pressured and threatened the shopkeepers to reopen their businesses, even breaking the locks of some stores. Furthermore, in the days leading up to the anniversary of the 2022 uprising, large numbers of special forces units were deployed from cities such as Hamedan, Zanjan, Tabriz, Miandoab, and Urmia to towns like Divandarreh, Sanandaj, Bijar, Mahabad, and Bukan, to suppress any gatherings or protests.>>

France 24 - September 16, 2024 - By: Bahar MAKOOI
<<Two years after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 'quiet revolution' is still under way in Iran
The scale of the protest movement that erupted after the 2022 death of Mahsa Amini and the brutal repression of those demonstrations have left an indelible mark on Iranian society. More and more women are flouting the veil requirement when out in public in what one NGO has described as a "quiet revolution" while men's behavior and awareness have also seen a shift in the years since. September 16 marks two years since a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman died after being detained by Iran’s morality police for wearing what they called an <ill-fitting> veil, sparking one of the largest waves of protests in the history of the Islamic Republic. In the days following Mahsa Amini's death, tens of thousands of Iranians took to the streets to express their anger, chanting, "Woman, life, freedom." These demonstrations, which lasted for several months, were violently suppressed by the Iranian authorities. But two years later, the legacy of the protests remains tangible; tongues have loosened, and more first-hand accounts have begun to surface. "We now know that unprecedented violence was used during the crackdown on these demonstrators. It was far worse than we thought," said Chowra Makaremi, an anthropologist and specialist on Iran. "We only really became aware of the extent of the cruelty by reading the testimonies collected by the UN investigation." A damning UN report published in March found evidence of extrajudicial killings and crimes against humanity. Investigators detailed serious human rights violations, including torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence against detained demonstrators. More than 30,000 arrests were recorded and at least 551 protesters were killed by security forces, including 49 women and 68 children. "Most deaths were caused by firearms, including assault rifles," the report said, noting numerous injuries to protesters' eyes and the "blinding of scores of women, men and children, branding them for life".
'Men's behavior has changed'
The demonstrations have had a lasting effect on Iranian society, according to the Oslo-based NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR), with more and more Iranian women refusing to cover their hair in public. "A quiet revolution has taken place across Iran, in which women refuse to adhere to what has become the symbol of Islamic Republic oppression - the mandatory hijab," the IHR said in a September release. "With their simple act of peaceful civil disobedience, these women say no - no to the repression, no to the violence, and no to the systematic discrimination and gender apartheid that has characterized the plight of women in the Islamic Republic since its inception." Beyond the veil, there have been even more profound changes within civil society since Mahsa Amini's death, said Makaremi, who published an essay on the revolt entitled, "Woman! Life! Freedom! Echoes of a Revolutionary Uprising in Iran. A cultural revolution is under way," she said. "Within families, in the private sphere, hierarchical relationships are changing. The place of young women and girls is changing. Men's behavior has changed too - they no longer take for granted their positions of power. In fact, they are no longer as blind to the way in which they, themselves, had become tools of state repression."
'You can be pious and opposed to the Islamic Republic'
Makaremi said another recent development is that the "adherence to traditional values and religion has become independent of adherence to the regime". In other words, she said, it is now understood that "you can adhere to traditional values, be deeply pious, and yet be fundamentally opposed to the Islamic Republic". Strikes led by Iranian bazaar merchants illustrated this phenomenon. The bazaaris, a sector of Iranian society that has traditionally been close to the clergy, closed up shop to show support for the protest movement, helping it maintain momentum. There has also been a marked shift in Iran's sociopolitical sphere since the protests. From the spontaneous gatherings in Iranian streets to the chants heard in schools, from the graffiti seen on walls to viral social media posts, Makaremi said these small but widespread acts of protest have begun to reveal the true scale of opposition to the regime.
Break with the reformers
Iranians are breaking the final taboos, including criticizing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The chants of "Death to Khamenei" heard during the demonstrations and the high school girls directing their middle fingers at his portrait were essentially calls for a change of regime - something that even Iran's reformists had rarely dared to vocalize. "The Iranians have realized that their opposition has become foundational," Makaremi said.
"Before all of this the reformists were the main conduit for political dissent, which nevertheless stopped short of questioning the foundations of the Islamic Republic," she said.
"But now we are seeing a movement that has broken free."
In another sign of the rupture between the population and Iran's traditional reformists, there were widespread calls for a boycott ahead of the June 2024 presidential election despite the presence of a reformist candidate (who eventually won). The vote's first round saw the lowest turnout ever in an Iranian election, another sign of deep disillusionment with the political system inherited from the 1979 Islamic revolution - and the reformers who are part of it.

Mamosta Mohammad Khezrnejad
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - 16 Sept 2024
<<Kurdish Political Prisoner, Mamosta Mohammad Khezrnejad, Goes on a Hunger Strike in Urmia Prison
Mamosta Mohammad Khezrnejad, a religious figure from the city of Bukan and one of those arrested during the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, has gone on a hunger strike in protest of his situation in Urmia Central Prison. He has been in detention for nearly 22 months. According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the 45-year-old Kurdish cleric began his hunger strike in Urmia Central Prison, protesting his prolonged detention and the referral of his case to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court. This Kurdish cleric has called the charges against him baseless and criticized the handling of his trial, which was conducted virtually. He has also objected to his case being sent to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court. Previously, Mamosta Mohammad Khezrnejad was sentenced by Branch 3 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia, presided over by Judge Reza Najafzadeh, to death on charges of <corruption on earth,> 15 years in prison for <harming the integrity or independence of the country,> and one year in prison for <propaganda against the regime.> Later, this death sentence and the two prison terms were reduced to a 25-year prison sentence following a mitigation of punishment. The Iranian judiciary's news agency claimed that this sentence reduction was based on <a commitment to good behavior.> Mamosta Mohammad Khezrnejad was arrested on Saturday, November 19, 2022, during the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement along with his son, Yaser Khezrnejad, by Iranian Intelligence agents at his home, with severe violence. He was kept in the Intelligence Ministry's detention center in Urmia for 100 days, where he was subjected to extreme torture and forced to make false confessions against himself. His son was released after a few days. Mamosta Mohammad Khezrnejad's arrest followed a memorial ceremony for Asad Rahimi, one of the victims of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, during which Khezrnejad gave a speech at the Eftekhari Mosque in Bukan, criticizing the Iranian government and its treatment of protesting citizens. He has been detained for one year, six months, and 19 days without the right to leave, and is currently held in Ward 2 of Urmia Central Prison without adherence to the principle of separating prisoners based on their charges.>>

Jinha - September 16, 2024
<<YPJ: We call on women to expand the revolution for freedom
On the second anniversary of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" uprising, the YPJ released a written statement calling on Kurdish women and all women in the Middle East to unite around the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" philosophy and to expand the revolution for freedom.
News Center- The Women's Protection Units or Women's Defense Units (YPJ) has released a written statement to mark the second anniversary of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" uprising that sparked in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran's so-called <morality police>.
"On the second anniversary of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" uprising that started in the city of Saqqez following the killing of Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini in Tehran and the spread across Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan, we commemorate all the martyrs of the revolution in the person of Jina Amini," the statement said, recalling that Kurdish women have achieved many gains against the patriarchal mindset in their 50-year struggle. "One of the struggles of leader Apo (Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan) is the struggle against the patriarchal system. Women have made significant progress in many areas such as ideology, organization, self-defense, co-presidential system and Jineology. Women have been waging a radical struggle against rape culture, the patriarchal system and the mindset of the male-dominated nation-state by forming a democratic nation system."
'One language, one gender, one sect and one religion are imposed'
Women in Rojhilat Kurdistan and Iran face a religious, nationalist and male-dominated system, the statement added. "Although the revolution in Iran was started by the joint struggle of the people and women, women's rights are violated by a group of religious men and one language, one gender, one sect and one religion are imposed on women. Despite all the violations, Kurdish and Iranian women wage a nonstop struggle," the statement said, underlining that "women struggle in prisons, in the streets, in universities, in factories and in all facets of life such as politics, culture and economy."
'The Jin, Jiyan, Azadi uprising will continue until social equality is achieved'
Recalling that Jina Mahsa Amini was brutally killed, the statement said, “Jina was buried by people chanting the 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi' slogan and an important uprising started in the city of Saqqez that spread across Rojhilat and other cities of Iran. People participating in the protests were subjected to violence by security forces; thousands of people were executed or killed. Despite oppression, the people have taken to the streets against the anti-democratic regime. The Jin, Jiyan, Azadi uprising will continue until social equality is achieved." >>

Hungerstrike
Iranwire - September 15, 2024
<<Women Inmates Start Hunger Strike on Mahsa Amini Death Anniversary
Dozens of women political prisoners in Tehran's notorious Evin prison have launched a hunger strike on the second anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. The strike marks two years since the death in custody of Mahsa Amini, which sparked nationwide protests against the Islamic Republic's policies in 2022. Initiated by 34 inmates in the women's ward of Evin prison, the hunger strike aims to "join the protesting people of Iran against the government's repressive policies." Among the striking prisoners are prominent activists and dissidents, including Narges Mohammadi, Verisheh Moradi, Mahbobeh Rezaei, and Parivash Muslimi. This act of defiance comes in the wake of escalating tensions between the prisoners and prison authorities. On September 8, five women were summoned to the Evin Security Prosecutor's Office but refused to appear, challenging the legitimacy of the proceedings against them. The current hunger strike is part of ongoing protests within the prison walls. In August, following the execution of Reza Rasaei, a protester arrested during the nationwide demonstrations of 2021, women in Evin prison staged a protest. Their peaceful demonstration was met with violence from security forces, who severely beat the inmates. After the crackdown, prison officials and the prosecutor's office have been accused of obstructing justice. They prevented forensic medical examiners from documenting the prisoners' injuries and denied some injured women access to hospital care, despite recommendations from the prison doctor. The situation further deteriorated when, following two nights of sit-ins by female prisoners protesting death sentences and widespread executions across the country, the prosecutor's office and prison administration took other punitive measures. A large number of women prisoners were banned from making phone calls and receiving visits for periods ranging from one to three months.>>

Iranwire - September 15, 2024
<<Iran Deploys Heavy Security in Mahsa Amini's Hometown
Widespread civil disobedience and a heavy security force presence have been reported in Iran's Kurdish city of Saqqez on the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death. The city, birthplace of Amini, whose death in custody sparked the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in 2022, has become a focal point of commemorative activities and government attempts to suppress them. According to information obtained by IranWire, the government's strategy has shifted from last year. Military forces arrived in Saqqez two days before the anniversary. This year, they have been stationed at an IRGC base near the city's entrance from Sanandaj, rather than at the governor's compound where they were the previous year. Additional forces have been positioned at the exit towards Baneh and along the route to Aichi cemetery, where Amini is buried. While the streets remain free of visible military or special unit presence as of midday on Sunday, the skies above Saqqez are under constant surveillance by several military helicopters. The IRGC has intensified its presence at city entry points and has been checking incoming vehicles. The authorities' preparations for this day began several days in advance. In a repeat of last year's tactics, they released water from the Cheraghweis dam on Friday night, causing the Saqqez River to expand to impassable levels at all points. The measure appears designed to limit movement within the city and access to key locations. Despite these obstacles, Saqqez's residents have responded to calls from various Kurdish parties and personalities to support the Amini family and others who lost loved ones during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests. A significant strike action began Sunday morning, with many businesses in the main market and along major city routes remaining closed. The outskirts of Saqqez have also been affected by the strike. However, government offices remain open, with some citizens attending to administrative matters.>>

Media Blackout
Iranwire - September 15, 2024
<<Iran Orders Media Blackout on Mahsa Amini Anniversary
The Islamic Republic's security agencies have ordered domestic media outlets to completely censor any coverage of the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in custody. Media organizations have also been instructed to prevent their journalists from publishing or sharing any content about the anniversary on social media, according to IranWire sources. This follows a pattern of media suppression, with many journalists arrested and imprisoned for reporting on Amini's case during the 2022 protests. The crackdown extends to social media users. In Saqqez and Sanandaj, the police have threatened users who changed their profile pictures to images of Amini, warning them of arrest if the images aren't removed. These actions reflect the government's efforts to control the narrative surrounding Amini's death and the subsequent protests, raising concerns about freedom of expression and press freedom in Iran as the anniversary approaches.>>

Iranwire - September 15, 2024
<<Amini Death Anniversary: Kurdish City in Iran Faces Crackdown
The Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Department has threatened local businesses participating in a widespread strike in Kurdish city of Mahabad.
The work stoppage, which began on Sunday, the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in custody, has been met with a harsh response from authorities. According to two sources who spoke to IranWire, security agencies have been contacting marketers and shopkeepers, threatening them with <security case filings> if they refuse to reopen their shops. The intimidation tactic appears to be a direct attempt to quash the peaceful protest.
Plainclothes intelligence forces from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are also marking shops for identification. In some cases, the agents have resorted to destructive measures, breaking locks and damaging shutters of closed businesses.>>
