<<Members Of Iranian Women's National Football Team Snub Training Camp
Fourteen players in the Iranian women's national football team have
refused to participate in the second round of their training camp,
claiming that the sports authorities was <indifferent to their concerns>
and <insulting> toward them, local media reports. Media reports cited
<financial problems,> <lack of facilities> and <insults to the dignity>
of the team as reasons for the boycott of the training camp, which was
scheduled to start on March 26. Despite years of discrimination in
Iranian women's football, the players' move came as a surprise given the
upcoming Paris Olympic qualifiers. The Iranian team is set to compete
against Myanmar, Maldives and Bangladesh in Group B.
The Official who Threatens Players
According to IranWire sources, football federation Vice President Maryam
Monazami insulted members of Iran's women's national football team
during a meeting with players on March 15. Monazami allegedly used
misogynistic language and insulted the players, saying that if it were
up to her, she wouldn't have allowed some of them to attend the
gathering. She also made <inappropriate> comments about the players'
personal relationships and said that their behavior went against Muslim
values. Monazami threatened to use private photos of the players to
tarnish their reputations if they engaged in any political or social
activities on social media platforms.>>

<<New Hijab Plan to be enforced soon, intelligent punishments for
defiant women
The new Hijab plan punishes women who defy the veil by heavy fines,
nulling passports, and driver's licenses, and ban on internet use. In a
press conference with the state media, mullah Hossein Jalali presented
the details of a new Hijab Plan to be proposed to the mullahs'
parliament for adoption. Jalali said the new plan would be implemented
through an intelligent system and not entail physi-cal confrontation
with women who do not observe the veil. Instead, it includes financial
punishments ranging from half a million to three million tomans,
cancellation of driver’s licenses and passports, ban on Internet use,
etc. At a news conference on March 26, 2023, the member of the mullahs'
parliament from Rafsanjan and Anar said they had finalized the bill in
300 meetings with the National Cultural and Security Council. He claimed
that the situation of the Hijab would be better than in the past.
According to mullah Jalali, the clerical regime's agencies in charge of
enforcing the mandatory Hijab would monitor seven groups of places:
inside the vehicles, inside public places and restaurants, government
offices and departments, educational centers and universities, airports
and terminals, the cyberspace, celebrities, and in the streets and
public thoroughfares.
He claimed that according to the new plan, confrontations with wo-men
would be <intelligent,> and there would be <no physical confrontations.>
There will be fines issued for those who breach the Hijab rules, ranging
from 500,000 Tomans to 3 million Tomans. Revoking driver's licenses and
passports and banning Internet use are also among the punishments for
women who do not observe the mandatory Hijab rule. They will also see
those individuals with websites, social media channels, or many
followers and members could not use the Internet. Hossein Jalali said
the government should propose the bill within a couple of weeks to be
adopted by the parliament.>>

Opinion by Gino d'Artali: Does this jalali really think the basij are
intelligent enough to understand how to act to this so-called 'new
plan'? Let's not forget what happened to Jina Mahsa Amani who was killed
for apparently wearing her hijab wrongfully and other women who felt
victim to the basij.

<<Iran's Central Bank Says Inflation Stood At 46.5 Percent Last Month
Iran recorded an annual inflation rate of 46.5 percent in the last
Iranian calendar month, which ended on March 21, according to the
central bank, amid a worsening economic situation triggered by years of
sanctions and political instability sparked by nationwide protests.
The official inflation rate announced on March 26 is among the highest
reported by the authorities in more than 30 years. The actual inflation
is believed to be higher. With such high inflation, Iranians have been
scrambling to convert their savings into hard currencies or gold.mThe US
dollar was trading at 512,200 rials on the open market on March 27.
Under a 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, most
international economic sanctions were scrapped in exchange for limits to
the Iranian nuclear program.>>

politics unless politics/politicians are co-predator concerning crimes
against women but.... the protesters will nuke khamenei to oblivion.

<<Prominent Iranian Lawyer Nemat Ahmadi Loses License
Iranian authorities have withdrawn the license of prominent lawyer Nemat
Ahmadi, according to the country’s lawyers' association, amid growing
pressure on attorneys who have represented protesters in recent months.
More than 50 defense attorneys have been arrested since the September
2022 death of a young woman, Mahsa Amini, in police custody triggered an
ongoing wave of nationwide anti-government protests. The authorities
have cracked down hard on the women-led protest movement, killing more
than 520 people and unlawfully detaining over 20,000, activists say.
Following biased trials, the judiciary has handed down stiff sentences,
including the death penalty, to protesters. Saleh Nikbakht, a lawyer
that has represented Amini's family, was summoned to the second
investigation branch of the Public Prosecutor's Office at Tehran's Evin
prison on March 14. He is accused of <propaganda against the regime,> a
charge that stems from an <interview with a media outlet outside of
Iran.> Amini's relatives are seeking justice and truth regarding the
death of the 22-year-old woman. Meanwhile, Amir Hossein Najafi, the son
of imprisoned lawyer Mohammad Najafi, announced on March 26 that his
father had been on a hunger strike for 22 consecutive days. The lawyer
was imprisoned after revealing the killing of a young protester, Vahid
Heydari, during the 2018 nationwide protests. Lawyer Fereshteh Tabanian
was arrested in December after participating in an investigation session
at the Ahvaz Prosecutor's Office and was released on bail in February.
She is accused of <propaganda activity against the regime,> <spreading
lies,> <association and collusion,> <membership in enemy groups> and
<insulting the leadership.> >>

<<Zahra Zehtabchi, a sociologist, is the mother of two daughters
Zahra Zehtabchi, 56, a sociologist and social science researcher, has
been imprisoned in Evin prison for nine and a half years. She is a
mother of two daughters named Narges and Mina. Her father, Ali Asghar
Zehtabchi, was executed in Evin prison on June 20, 1981, for supporting
the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
She also lost a number of her close relatives in the 80s. Zahra
Zehtabchi was arrested on the street by the Ministry of Information
agents on October 16, 2013. She was kept in solitary confinement and
under interrogation until September 2014, when her first court hearing
was held on August 11, 2014. After her arrest, Ms. Zehtabchi's husband,
Seyed Javad Khoshniyat Nikou, tried to discover her condition but was
also arrested and released after 22 days. Her sister Faezeh and her
20-year-old daughter, Narges, were also arrested. Narges Khoshniyat
Nikou was released after 24 hours, and Faezeh Zehtabchi was released
after a week. Zahra Zehtabchi's mother said that her daughter's first
court hearing was on August 11, 2014, and that <Zahra had a lawyer
designated by the government who was only able to meet and talk to her
half an hour before the court. Zahra's lawyer had told her to write
something, but Zahra replied that she cannot write a text that she does
not accept and asked why she should write a lie.> Her arrest was because
she had posted pictures of Mojahedin martyrs on the wall. After the
first court session, the presiding judge declared her accusation of
insul-ting Khamenei. In the first four months of her detention, Ms.
Zehtabchi was held incommunicado, and during this time, she was
pressured to do a television interview against herself. Zahra Zehtabchi
was finally sentenced to 10 years in prison on the charge of association
with the Mojahedin organization, which the appeal court upheld. The case
of Zahra Zehtabchi is an example of the violation of human rights in
Iran and the imprisonment of political prisoners without a fair trial.>>

<<The Plight of Zeinab Jalalian: A Woman's Struggle for Freedom and
Justice
Zeinab Jalalian, a Kurdish woman, has spent 15 years in prison in Iran
and is now entering her 16th year of imprisonment. She is the
longest-held and only female political prisoner with a life sentence in
Iran. During her imprisonment, she was tortured and deprived of her
right to leave, even for medical treatment. She has also been illegally
and violently moved between different prisons. This report pre-sents the
current situation of Zeinab Jalalian in Yazd prison.
Prison Transfers
Zeinab Jalalian was arrested in Kermanshah on February 26, 2008, and is
currently being held in Yazd prison. However, this Kurdish woman has
been illegally and violently moved between different prisons. About six
months before her transfer to Yazd prison, she was suddenly and without
any reason given by the security agents transferred from Khoy prison to
Qarchak prison. She was then transferred to Kerman prison after a hunger
strike with Covid-19 and requested to return to Khoy prison in West
Azerbaijan Province, NW Iran. She was then transferred to Kermanshah
prison, despite the officials of Kermanshah Women's Prison refusing to
take her in initially due to her serious health condition.
Health Condition
Zeinab Jalalian was infected with Covid-19 for a second time in Yazd
Prison and has developed lung and asthma problems during her recovery
due to a lack of medical care. Her physical condition and health have
deteriorated due to her previous diseases, including kidney and
digestive problems, oral thrush, eye pterygium, poor eyesight, tooth
infection, etc. Despite her deteriorating physical condition, she was
kept for a long time in a public room with people with addictions and
very bad health conditions and without necessary medical care. Legal
Status
According to Zeinab Jalalian’s lawyers, based on the new Islamic Penal
Law approved in 2013, her continued imprisonment is against the law and
should be released.
Arrest of Family Members
Security agents in Maku arrested Zeinab Jalalian's mother, father, and
three brothers named Pasha, Ibrahim, and Yousef last March in response
to a video message sent by Guzel Hajizadeh, Zeinab Jalalian's mother,
about her daughter’s condition. Although the family members were
released after one day and night, the Intelligence Department warned
them about any information and interviews with human rights
organizations and the media about Zeinab Jalalian’s condition. The
security agents also asked the family of this Kurdish woman to speak
against her activities and Kurdish opposition parties in a video
interview, which was rejected by their strong reaction.
Call to free Zeinab Jalalian
Zeinab Jalalian's 16th Nowruz in prison is a reminder of her continued
imprisonment and violation of her human rights.
....
The Iranian authorities must release Zeinab Jalalian immediately, and
her human rights and dignity must be respected.>>
