When one hurts or kills a women
one hurts or kills hummanity and is an antrocitie.
Gino d'Artali
and: My mother (1931-1997) always said to me <Mi
figlio, non esistono notizie <vecchie> perche puoi imparare qualcosa da
qualsiasi notizia.> Translated: <My son, there is no such thing as so
called 'old' news because you can learn something from any news.>
Gianna d'Artali.
Preface by Gino d'Artali: israel is now in its 6th. month in its cruel
and inhuman war and attempts to genocide the Palestinian people in their
stolen land and most of the time the rest of the world is just watching
and doing nothing to prevent it happening and most likely will say
afterwards, and even already now, 'wir haben es nicht gewuescht',
translated 'we didn't know', and just like the Germans said during and
after WW2 and the holocaust. Thing is it will have probably have an
enormous backlash where we are now at the brink of the start of WW3.
But... the women-led revolutions in the Middle-east do continue because
it are always the women who know not only what the real facts are but
moreso what they are fighting for, namely Freedom from dictators and
chauvinist perpetrators in general who have one goal only: to suppress
women and reduce them to even less than salt of the earth. But Victory
will prevail. For the Palestinian people and all women for whom the word
'impossible' is no part of their dictionary. Read more about their
struggles below and about the Palestenian struggle here:

<<Victim of child marriage: Women should trust themselves
The increase in child marriage in Syria, where conflict and political
instability have continued for more than 13 years, is at alarming level.
Aya Qatini, victim of child marriage, calls on women to trust
themselves.
Sweida- Due to the conflict and political instability that has been
going on in Syria for more than 13 years, women and girls suffer from
many problems such as gender-based violence, child and forced marriage,
economic crisis and the lack of healthcare services and security. The
patriarchal mindset in society forms the basis for oppressive policies,
particularly against women and girls. The increase in child marriage,
which is a violation of human rights, is at alarming level in Syria. Aya
Qatini, who is from Sweida's Raymah Hazem village, is one of the victims
of child marriage; she was forced into child marriage when she was 14.
She gave birth to her first child at the age of 15
Aya Qatini gave birth to her first child when she was just 15. She had
to shoulder all the responsibility while she was also a child because
her husband went to different countries to work. She was diagnosed with
cancer six months after giving birth to her first child. <I had many
dreams but the reality prevented me from realizing them. I was diagnosed
with nasopharyngeal cancer six months after I gave birth to my first
child. Since I couldn't take care of my son, I sent him to my family. As
my health was deteriorating, my husband asked a divorce. I got divorced
and returned to my family. I received psychological support for a long
time but I stopped receiving psychological support because my ex-husband
did not cover our son's expenses.> Aya Qatini can now buy her
medications with the support of some aid organizations. She called on
parents not to marry off their daughters and on women to <trust
themselves>.>>

<<Kongra Star Economy Committee creates new workplaces for women
Kongra Star Economy Committee provides employment opportunities to women
by creating new workplaces for women in the city of Hasakah,
northeastern Syria.
Hasakah- Since the revolution that started in North and East Syria on
July 19, 2012, women have been participating in all facets of life,
including the labor force. Being excluded from working life before the
revolution, the women now play important roles in promoting regional and
local production.
Kongra Star Economy Committee in Hasakah provides employment
opportunities to women by developing projects despite the ongoing siege
imposed by the Syrian government and the Turkish attacks. It also
promotes women’s participation in the labor force to secure their
financial future. The committee has opened sewing workshops and
established a factory employing more than 35 women. It promotes women’s
labor force participation by opening bakeries in IDPs camps such as
Washokani Camp and Al-Talea Camp.
'We aim to reveal the collective spirit'
The aim of our projects is to increase women's independence and
participation in the labor force, said Salma Ahmed, member of the
committee. <The main purpose of our projects is to empower women and
support them to get their economic independence without depending on
anyone. We aim to reveal the collective spirit by making women partners
of the projects.>
'Women should participate in the labor force'
In Hasakah, women take part in many projects developed by the committee
about agriculture, carpet weaving, bakery, sewing and gardening. <25
women work in the sewing workshop. This project will continue for a
year,> said Salma Ahmed, who also talked about the projects that they
want to realize soon. <Wells will be dug for irrigation. In addition,
there is a need for women, who can work as carpet cleaners. We will hold
meetings with communes to reach women. During the meetings, we will give
information about cooperatives.> Salma Ahmed believes that women should
participate in the labor force to get their economic independence and
support their families. <Women should take part in the projects of the
committee because these projects will prevent women from being exploited
by men.> >>

Forced marriage victims
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 17, 2024 - by BAHARIN LEHIB
<<Survivor of forced marriage becomes lawyer to support victims
Mehtab Karim is an Afghan lawyer and survivor of child marriage. When
she was 15, she ran away from home not to be forced into a child
marriage and took shelter in a women's shelter.
Kabul- Child and forced marriage is a violation of human rights still
practiced all over the world. Each year, 12 million girls are married
before the age of 18. Afghanistan is one of the countries where this
phenomenon is still common. 183 child marriages were registered over
2018 and 2019 in Herat and Baghdis provinces alone, according to a
report released by UNICEF. 28 percent of Afghan women aged 15-49 years
were married before the age of 18, the report said. Afghan women's
organizations made great efforts to end child and forced marriage. They
launched a campaign called, <Running away from home is not a crime> for
those who had to run away from their homes not to be forced into child
marriage. The women's organizations also opened women's shelters for the
survivors of child marriage. In addition, they made great efforts to put
pressure on the government for passing a law combating violence against
women.
578 reports of forced marriage
After the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, they closed
down all organizations defending women’s rights and women’s shelters.
The Taliban issued a series of decrees and guidelines that violate the
human rights of women and girls and set the legal age of marriage for
girls as 9 within the framework of Sharia law. The Taliban closed down
the women’s shelters and arrested the women, who had taken shelters
there. According to a report released by the Special Inspector General
for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), there were 578 reports of forced
marriage, including 361 child marriages in Afghanistan between December
2022 and February 2023.
She ran away from home not to marry a 60-year-old man
Mehtab Karim is one of the survivors of forced marriage in Afghanistan.
When she was 15, her parents tried to force her to marry a 60-year-old
man as a third wife. She ran away from home and took shelter in one of
the women's shelters. <I felt very angry. I cried a lot but no one heard
me. In 2008, I eventually got engaged to this man who was older than my
father. On my wedding night, I wore the clothes of my brother and cut my
hair,> Mehtab Karim told NuJINHA. <Then, I left home in Paktika Province
to Kabul with very little money. Everyone thought I was a boy. When I
arrived in Kabul, I met a woman and she helped me to go to the Ministry
of Women's Affairs. Then, I was taken to a women's shelter.>
'I have become a lawyer and helped many victims'
While staying in the women's shelter, Mehtab Karim continued her
education and became a lawyer. <I have become a lawyer and helped many
victims and survivors of forced marriage.> Speaking about the Taliban's
ban on girls' education, she said, <We are the only people who can save
ourselves from this misery. If I had remained silent, I would have a bad
life now. I did my best to build a future for myself. There were many
girls survivors of domestic violence and forced marriage in the women's
shelter. They all completed their education. I even saved my cousin's
two daughters from child marriage. If Afghan women unite, we will
destroy the Taliban and establish our own republic.> >>

We return to Afrin
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 16, 2024 - by HESNA MIHEMED
<<'We will resist in Shahba until we return to Afrin'
<We will resist until we return to Afrin,> say displaced people of
Afrin, who take shelter in Shahba but face displacement in Shahba due to
the ongoing Turkish attacks and the siege imposed by the Syrian
government.
Shahba- Six years have passed since Afrin, a Kurdish city in
northeastern Syria, was occupied by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed
factions on March 18, 2018. After resisting the Turkish attacks for 58
days, thousands of people in Afrin were forcibly displaced. Most of them
took shelter in Shahba. For six years, they have been resisting the
ongoing Turkish attacks and the siege imposed by the Syrian government
so that they will return to Afrin one day. NuJINHA spoke to women of
Afrin living in Shahba about the Turkish attacks and the siege imposed
by the Syrian government aiming to displace them again.
'We will stay in Shahba until we return to Afrin'
Emina Şexo, a displaced woman of Afrin living in Shahba, thinks that the
aim of the ongoing attacks on Shahba is to displace them again. <We are
subjected to the Turkish attacks every day. The Damascus government
(Syrian government) has been imposing a siege on Shahba while it should
stand with us. Their aim is to displace us from here. We will stay in
Shahba until we return to Afrin.>
'Nothing can break our resistance'
<Neither attacks nor siege can break our resistance,> said Fatime
Mihemed, who is determined to resist in Shahba until she returns to
Afrin. <We will resist to the end. We have been resisting in Shahba for
six years. We will resist in Shahba until we return to Afrin.> >>
