MOHSEN SHEKARI - 23
  Was hanged on December 8th 2022
<<Mohsen Shekari was accused of blocking a street and wounding a member of the pro-regime Basij militia on 25 September 2023, during the early phase of the protests triggered by the death in custody of Mahsa aka Jina Amini. His family waited outside the jail where he was executed, seeking news of his fate. Shekari's uncle Mahmoud Shekari told the Guardian from Denmark that authorities <have started a familiar game to torture his family> by not releasing his body, a complaint that tallies with the experiences of other families of dead protesters.

Rights groups have said Shekari was tortured and forced to confess. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the director of the Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights, called for a strong international reaction, <otherwise we will be facing daily executions of protesters>.>>

MAJIDREZA RAHNAVARD - 23
  was hanged at dawn on December 12 2023, only 23 days after his arrest.
<<Iran carries out second execution over protests. Iran says it has publicly hanged a 23-year-old in what is the second execution linked to the recent anti-government protests. Majidreza Rahnavard, 23, was hanged early on Monday in the city of Mashhad, the judiciary said. A court convicted him of <enmity against God> after finding he had stabbed to death two members of the paramilitary Basij Resistance Force. Rahnavard was hanged just 23 days after his arrest. Human rights groups have warned that protesters are being sentenced to death after sham trials with no due process. His mother was not told of the execution until after his death. His family were then given the name of a cemetery and a plot number. When they turned up, security agents were burying his body.>>

<<where on January 7th. 2023 executed for apparently killing a paramilitary force member in November 2022 during unprecedented protests sparked by Mahsa Amini's death in custody. <<Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini were executed. They were previously arrested at protests and sentenced to death in a legal case known as <the death of a Basij Militia force Ruhollah Ajamian.> A while ago, their sentences were confirmed by the Supreme Court of Iran.
According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Tasnim, on January 7, 2023, Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini were executed. Karami, age 22, a resident of Karaj, was a karateka with several top titles and championships. His lawyer recently informed HRANA that he went on a dry hunger strike last Wednesday. Also, Mohammad Hosseini's lawyer wrote on Twitter that his client had been tortured with iron bars and shockers.>>

<<Iran: 120 Baloch prisoners executed in 120 days
News center - The Iranian regime continues to use the death penalty to intimidate people. According to Haalvsh, a group that monitors rights violations against Baloch people in Iran, 81 Baloch prisoners were executed in Iran in the last 120 days. <81 Baloch people in Iran's different prisons were executed on false charges,> the group announced. The Baloch people, who live mainly in the Balochistan region of Iran, have been subjected to many rights violations, discrimination, execution, arrest and torture by the Iranian regime for years. The group called for solidarity with Baloch people, underlining that the Iranian regime tries to silence people against the executions.>>

Note from Gino d'Artali: The Baloch people have suffered discrimination, repression and marginalisation for many years under successive Iranian regimes. Sistan-and-Balochistan is the second largest but least developed and most deprived province of Iran. In the east, the province borders the contiguous Baloch regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan. During the late 19th century (1871-96), this part of Balochistan was split from the Baloch Khanate of Kalat by the British, who divided the country into British and Persian <spheres of influence>. However, Persia failed to establish its control over the area, and it continued to be ruled by local Baloch chiefdoms until its annexation by Persia in 1928 after a brutal military campaign. Since then, this region has remained in conflict with the Persian-Shia dominated centre.
Bloody Friday
A month after the assasination of Jina Mahsa Amani protests also continue in Iran's restive region of Balochistan, home to the Baloch-Sunni ethno-religious minority. Six more people, including three children, were reported to have been killed on Friday as Iranian security forces opened fire on the demonstrators in Zahedan, the capital of the south-eastern Sistan-and-Balochistan province. Earlier, security forces had killed at least 82 people in the city; 66 of them lost their lives in a single incident on 30 September, now known widely as <Bloody Friday>.
