<<Women of Sweida: Internet and cell services have been intentionally cut off
The internet and cell services in Sweida and its villages have been cut off since cables were stolen. Women of Sweida took to the streets to protest the situation.
Sweida- The internet and cell services in Sweida and its villages have been cut off since cables were stolen. The people of Sweida protested the situation in front of the building of the Communications Directorate on Monday.
'The theft was organized'
Nisreen Al-Mulhim, one of the protesters, accused the Syrian government of internationally cutting off the internet and cell services. <The theft was organized. Many people and equipment are needed to steal all the cables. Despite the price hike in internet cost, it has been cut off every day. The aim of cutting off the internet and cell services is to prevent people from participating in protests. I am one of the protesters gathering at Karama Square since August 17, 2023. We will keep taking to the streets until our demands are met.>
'We have no services for 10 days'
Rehab Kamal El-Din was another woman protesting the cutting off of the internet and cell services in front of the Communications Directorate. <The internet and cell services have been intentionally cut off. A team came and stole the cables after the internet and cell services were cut off. Stealing cables is a method of the regime to intimidate us. We have no services for 10 days.> The people of Sweida have been suffering from power and water outages for a long time. <For three months, the internet and cell services have been cut off. We cannot communicate with the people in many villages. We buy internet packages at high prices, but we cannot use them. All we demand is a life with dignity. We demand the internet and cell services be restored and those who are responsible for it be arrested.> >>

Jinha - Womens News Agency 12 Mar 2024 -
<<Italy launches 'Food For Gaza' initiative
Italy has launched a <Food For Gaza> initiative aimed at coordinating international humanitarian efforts to the people in the Gaza Strip.
News Center- On Monday, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, met with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Director-General Qu Dongyu, World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy H. McCain and the Deputy Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Xavier Castellanos to launch the <Food for Gaza> initiative.
The table will be open to all the national and International stakeholders
At the press release after the meeting at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani said, <it is an important initiative that aims to stop a further deterioration towards a predicted widespread famine. We decided to set up a permanent coordination technical table open to all the national and International stakeholders willing to contribute.> Antonio Tajani stated that they would inform G7 countries, European Union (EU) members, the Israeli government, the Palestine authority and Arab countries about the initiative. <It is not sufficient to drop aid from the sky. We spoke about that. It is important to increase the number of trucks since (there is) not enough food, disorder arises because everybody is looking for food; and everyone is trying to help children who are suffering.> In response to a question by a journalist about Italy's financial support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Antonio Tajani said that Italy would keep suspending financial support for the UNRWA until further announcement. FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu also spoke at the press release. <Today is the 1st day of the Ramadan so we have to put more efforts in any means to support the Gazan people; they are suffering while celebrating Ramadan this evening.> The executive director of the UN World Food Program, Cindy McCain said in her speech the UN World Food Program is ready to <to develop a strategy to strengthen humanitarian access to Gaza and get desperately needed food supply and supplies to people suffering from severe hunger.> <If we do not exponentially increase the size of aid going into the northern areas, famine is imminent. It is imminent. We are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to get sufficient food aid to people in northern Gaza. Road access and the use of existing ports and crossings is the only way to get food into Gaza at the scale that this is now required. We need 300 trucks of food entering Gaza every single day>>

Newroz celebration will kick off in Elazıg's Dep (Karakoçan) district, the hometown of Mazlum Dogan, a founding member of the PKK, on March 15 with the motto, <Rabe dema azadi u serkeftine ye (English: Rise up, it is the time of freedom and victory)>. The final Newroz celebration will take place in Amed on March 21, 2024.
Isolation, hunger strikes, attack policies
After the Newroz declaration was announced yesterday, the first Newroz fire was lit in Amed’s Bismil district. Dancing around the fire, the people chanted the <Long live the resistance in prisons' slogan. People of Amed wait excitedly for celebrating Newroz on March 21. Amed Newroz, which is attended and followed with great interest by thousands of guests from many countries every year, has been making history for years with its enthusiasm. In an interview with NuJINHA, the members of the Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinen Azad-TJA) said that the people of Amed would celebrate Newroz with the same enthusiasm this year.

'We will celebrate Newroz with the same enthusiasm'
This year, people will celebrate Newroz and raise their voices against the isolation to support the hunger strikes in prisons. <We always demand a democratic resolution to the Kurdish question. This year, we will demand it again. For eight years, we have faced more oppression and attacks for demanding a democratic resolution to the Kurdish question. Everyone sees and witnesses the oppression in the region today. We want to put an end to all kinds of oppression and intimidation policies against both women and young people. On March 21, we will show that these policies have failed. As women, we will celebrate Newroz with the same enthusiasm. We will show our stance against the increasing attacks.>

<<'Women in war zones should get psychological support'
Fadiya Al-Ewed, a psychologist at Martyr Amara Psychological Counseling Center, thinks that women in war zones should get psychological support to <struggle more. They should not hesitate to get psychological support.>
Hasakah- The Martyr Amara Psychological Counseling Center opened by the Women's Council of North and East Syria in the town of Til Temir, Jazira Canton, provides psychological support to women and girls. Fadiya Al-Ewed, a psychologist at the center, says women may need psychological support due to the negative effects of war.
'There is a need for counselors who can provide psychological support'
There is a need for counselors, who can provide psychological support to people in the region due to the ongoing war and attacks, Fadiya Al-Ewed said in an interview with NuJINHA. <All forms of violence and right violations caused by war, such as taken as captive, abduction, sexual abuse, negatively affect women. Recently, there is an increase in suicide death due to the ongoing Turkish attacks on the region.> Speaking about the revolution led by women in North and East Syria, she said, <Women led a revolution in North and East Syria despite oppression and attacks. They have been rebuilding their lives. This revolution shows that a safe life can be built and it becomes a source of strength, inspiration and hope for all women.> Calling on women to get psychological support from the Martyr Amara Psychological Counseling Center, Fadiya Al-Ewed said, <Because we live in an unstable situation due to the ongoing Turkish attacks. Women should not hesitate to get psychological support. Women may need psychological support to struggle more. Pınar Gayip
Jinha - Womens News Agency 11 Mar 2024 - by ELIF ÇETINER
<<Journalist Pınar Gayip: Women journalists are targeted by male-state violence
Women journalists are sometimes targeted by their male colleagues, sometimes by the police, and sometimes by the perpetrators, journalist Pınar Gayip said, calling on women journalists to unite and struggle against violence.
Istanbul- Women struggle against the ongoing exploitation of their labor in all spheres of life. If you are a women and journalist, you have to resist more. Women journalists keep struggling against both male-state violence and the difficulties of their profession. In an interview with NuJINHA, Pınar Gayip, an editor at Etkin News Agency (ETHA), talked about the challenges experienced by women journalists while reporting new stories.
'Women journalists experience serious problems'
Pointing out that women journalists are subjected to violence by their male colleagues, Pınar Gayip said:
<As women journalists, we experience serious problems. These problems are, of course, not like the problems that we experienced 10 or 15 years ago. Since we are shorter than them, they try to use us as tripods by placing their cameras on our heads or on our shoulders or they push us aside and tell us, 'Stay aside, this is a man's job. We do journalism, not you.' We always discuss.>
'We used self-defense against violence'
Women journalists resist violence by their male colleagues, Pınar Gayip said, <We make great efforts to end violence by our male colleagues and sometimes we use self-defense to protect ourselves. Sometimes, we expose the violent actions of our male colleagues. Male journalists try to use us to run errands to be visible in front of the camera.>
'We are subjected to police violence'
Women journalists are subjected to violence by not only by their male colleagues, but also by police, Pınar Gayip said and added, <We are also direct victims of police violence; we are subjected to harassment and threats by police officers while covering protests or news stories. When we cover news stories about sexual assault, harassment or rape against a woman, we are threatened by them saying, 'What happened to her will happen to you too, you will experience the same thing if you report'. For years, we have been struggling against both male and police violence.>
She was targeted for reporting on sexual abuse against a trainee lawyer
Pınar Gayip was once targeted for reporting on sexual abuse against a female trainee lawyer. <I interviewed this female trainee lawyer. She had evidence documented sexual abuse against her. It was not fake news. After my news article was published, I was threatened through fake accounts opened by the harasser. Then, I was accused of being a member of a (terrorist) organization by him. The man got a lighter prison sentence for sexual assault. However, he filed a criminal complaint against me because his son was seen very little in the photo that I used for the article. The prosecution decided not to prosecute the criminal complaint. Then, he filed a criminal complaint by accusing me of being a member of a (terrorist) organization. Although our news agency reports on women, LGBTI+ people, animals, laborers, ecology, etc... a lawsuit was opened against us. What I experienced and still have been experienced show misogynistic policies of the male-dominant system.>``
'We should be supported'
Emphasizing that women journalists report on gender-based violence, Pınar Gayip said, <We are targeted for our reports; sometimes by police, sometimes by the judiciary and sometimes by the families of the women. Our reports are based on the statements of women. Women journalists must be supported to unite and defend the people's right to receive information.> >>
