<<Ongoing war in Sudan blocks healthcare access
Women displaced by the ongoing civil war in Sudan cannot access healthcare services. Especially pregnant women and babies are at risk since many hospitals are out of service.
Sudan- The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan also affect healthcare services. Looting and destruction of health centers have affected women, especially pregnant women in Sudan. Healthcare services are deteriorating since many hospitals are out of service. Due to armed conflict, maternal mortality rates and child deaths are on the rise in the country. According to reports, the armed conflict has already internally displaced more than 220,000 pregnant women because the armed conflict parties violate the provisions of the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
'I am seeking a safe place'
<I have no future. We suffer from health and education crises due to the conflict. My children are deprived of education,> said Nana Ali, one of the displaced pregnant women in Sudan. <I am seeking a safe place to give birth. Doctors told me that my baby would need an incubator; however, I will not be able to find an incubator in the current situation.>
She was worried about her children
Sabreen Siddiq was internally displaced twice while she was pregnant. <I first went to the city of Khartoum and then to the town of Merowe. I did not want to leave my home but I had to due to intense oppression. I was worried about my children and my unborn baby due to the clashes. Then, my husband also came to Merowe. My husband works now to earn a living for us. Our house was broken into after we left it. I gave birth to my child before my pregnancy was completed. Due to our poor financial condition, I could not access healthcare services.> >>

'Every day should be a day of struggle and resistance'
Indicating that they hold many activities every year to mark the International Women's Day, Rihan Loqo said, <Every day should be a day of struggle and resistance to make the 21st century a century of women. We will strengthen our women's struggle in this century.>
Multi-language statement
Speaking about the press statement in three languages by the platform, she said, <We had many meetings with women’s movements and organizations before kicking off the activities for IWD. In an interview with NuJINHA, Najat Outgardi, general supervisor of Dar Moustaqbel, said, <The Moustaqbel Foundation was founded by Hanneke Ouwehand-Van Hooff in 2016. Many restoration and rehabilitation works were carried out to host female students living in villages and rural areas, especially those whose families cannot effort to provide a shelter for them or cover their education expenses.> Dar Moustaqbel provides shelter to 54 female students from Al Haouz, Essaouira, Ouarzazate, Rehamna, Tinghir, Tata and Safi. It provides a safe home, meals, a library and all the materials to female students. <Dar Moustaqbel strives to give disadvantaged girls from Moroccan rural areas an equal opportunity to pursue further education,> said Najat Outgardi. <They sleep, eat, study and participate in lessons provided by us and activities.>
The selection process
Speaking about the selection process, she said, <Only students with a good plan and a track record that proves their commitment to their careers, in addition to a weak financial position, are selected.>
'Girls should be given the chance'
One of the main goals of Dar Moustaqbel is to support girls living in villages and rural areas so that they can continue their education. <Many girls have to drop out of school due to financial difficulties faced by their families. They share their experiences with students
In addition to providing a safe home to female students, Dar Moustaqbel support students for their careers or search for a job or an internship after having obtained a diploma. <The students also benefit from training courses. She told us that she could continue her education thanks to Dar Moustaqbel. <The earthquake that hit Morocco in September affected us. The foundation provides shelter to me so that I can continue my education now. We study hard to have a better future.>

I studied hard to pass the exam and I passed it,> she told us. Salma Ait Slimane studies Arabic at university. She is from Moulay Brahim, a small town and rural commune in Al Haouz Province, and stays at the shelter. She thinks Dar Moustaqbel gives her the opportunity to continue her education. <Dar Moustaqbel provides us with spaces for our hobbies. My hobby is drawing and I have a space to practice my hobby.
