<<Nasrin Javadi's Health Neglected in Evin Prison
Nasrin Javadi, a labor activist imprisoned in Evin prison, has been
deprived of proper medical care despite her physical condition. Nasrin
Javadi (Azam Khezri Javadi), 65, suffers from several diseases,
including osteoporosis. Despite Mrs. Javadi's repeated requests to be
sent on medical leave, the relevant authorities use various excuses to
prevent her from being sent to the hospital. At the same time, she
seriously needs to be sent on medical leave to receive specialized
treatment and get injected with osteoporosis drugs. Nasrin Javadi has
had physical problems many times in prison. Still, the prison’s
dispensary or the emergency forces suffice to give her an IV injection
to improve her physical condition. Ms. Javadi was summoned to Tehran's
Public and Revolutionary Court in 2022 to serve her 5-year sentence.
Meanwhile, she suffers from many diseases and takes medicine frequently
due to her old age. Her lawyer also submitted a doctor’s certificate to
the court stating that she could not bear her imprisonment. Nasrin
Javadi finally went to Evin prison on July 2, 2022, to serve her
sentence. Nasrin Javadi is a former employee of the Medical Equipment
Distribution company, a social security retiree, a member of the
founding board of the Labor Council of Social Security Retirees (BASTA),
and a member of the Free Union of Iranian Workers. Nasrin Javadi spent
50 days in solitary confinement.>>

<<EU Reporter: <The Iranian people are ready to overthrow the regime>,
opposition leader tells MEPs
The EU Reporter reported on May 24, 2023, on a conference at the
European Parliament featuring Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of
the National Council of Resistance of Iran, who briefed MEPs on the
situation in Iran and the future prospects. Following is the EU
Reporters' report by Nick Powell. The President-elect of the National
Council of Resistance of Iran, Maryam Rajavi, has urged MEPs to support
a much tougher stance by the EU and its member states against the
theocratic regime in Tehran. She said the people of her country had
risen against religious fascism and she criticised European inaction in
response to the executions of protesters, writes Political Editor Nick
Powell. Maryam Rajavi returned to the European Parliament four years
after her last visit, a period that has seen a massive growth in popular
resistance to the rule of the mullahs in lran. She is now
President-elect of the preeminent opposition body, the National Council
of Resistance of Iran. Her struggle has lasted a lifetime, since she
took part in student protests against the dictatorial rule of the last
Shah. Dozens of MEPs from different political groups came to hear Maryam
Rajavi. She said 112 prisoners had been executed by the regime since the
beginning of May, in an attempt to create an atmosphere of terror to
prevent further uprisings. The people had responded with protests
against these brutal killings but Europe's response had been
disappointing. <Unfortunately, we are witnessing a lack of action from
the European Union and its member states,> she said. <Isn't opposing
executions one of the well-known principles of the European Union? So
why when it comes to Iran, economic interests and political
considerations downplay the importance of the human rights situation?>
<I am here today to be the voice of the protesters in Iran, especially
women, who have risen up against religious dictatorship,” she added,
saying that her message was that the Iranian people have risen to
overthrow religious fascism. <They reject tyranny in all its forms and
will persist in their fight until they achieve freedom and democracy.>
Stanislav Polcak from the EPP group said the European Parliament must
support the creation of a democratic and secular republic in Iran and
described the National Council of Resistance as the only active
opposition to the regime. Another EPP MEP, Ivan Stefanec, said that
under Maryam Rajavi's leadership, people in Iran are <closer than ever
to their freedom.> He urged those who still thought it possible for the
EU to have a constructive relationship with the regime to remember the
lesson of history that <when facing fascism, appeasement does not work>.
....
Inside Iran, organised resistance is growing. The National Council of
Resistance and its core constituent, the People's Mojahedin Organisation
(MEK), has tirelessly sought democratic change. Its 10-point programme
calls for a republic with separation of religion and state, full
individual and social freedoms, gender equality, autonomy for ethnic
nationalities, elimination of the death penalty, an independent
judiciary, a free market, dissolving the Revolutionary Guard, and a
non-nuclear Iran with international and regional coexistence and
cooperation. Maryam Rajavi called on the European Union to include the
Revolutionary Guard in its list of terrorist organisations, to trigger
the so-called 'snapback mechanism' in the 2016 Iran nuclear deal that
would restore UN sanctions against the regime, to designate the regime
as a serious threat to global peace and security and to recognise the
Iranian people’s right to struggle to overthrow the regime, as well as
what she called <Iranian youth's legitimate struggle> against the
Revolutionary Guard. The protests, she said, had rejected both the
present clerical dictatorship and the Shah's dictatorship which preceded
it; they were false alternatives. <The Iranian people are ready to
overthrow the regime.> >>

<<Controversial <Chastity and Hijab> Bill Presented to Parliament
The Iranian news website Entekhab published the complete text of the
<Chastity and Hijab> bill, sparking heated debate among the public about
personal liberties, women's rights and the extent of government control.
The bill, which was presented to parliament on May 24 by the government
of Ebrahim Raisi, outlines severe penalties for women who violate
mandatory headscarf rules. Non-compliance with the Islamic Republic's
strict dress code is deemed as <nudity.> Offenders could face fines of
up to 8 million tomans ($150), with the fines being doubled if not paid
within a month, lose their jobs and be banned from social media
activities for up to one year. And repeat offenders would face
imprisonment from six months to three years. The <Chastity and Hijab>
bill has gained support from some officials of the Islamic Republic who
consider the hijab a <red line.> Detractors argue that the proposed law
focuses on punitive measures, restricts personal freedoms and unjustly
interferes with individuals' clothing choices. The controversial bill
was drafted following months-long nationwide protests demanding more
freedoms and women's rights. All women in Iran must conceal their hair
with a headscarf and wear loose fitting trousers under their coats while
in public, but a growing number of Iranian women have appeared in public
without head coverings. In response, authorities have closed down
hundreds of businesses due to the failure of owners or managers to
observe hijab rules, and taxi drivers have been fined for transporting
women without headscarves. Police and volunteers issue warnings in
subways, airports and other public places. Text messages have targeted
drivers who had women without head covering in their vehicles.>>

<< <Iran-Run> Islamic Charity in London Closes Doors
A British charity run by a representative of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
shut its doors on May 24, after the charity regulator tried to take
control and media investigations exposed hate speech among its speakers.
A notice posted on the Islamic Centre of England's (ICE) closed gates
said, <It is with great sadness that we have to inform our Congregation
& Community that due to the unforeseen circumstances, all programs
including daily prayers are suspended until further notice.> The message
was later removed. An employee at the ICE told The Telegraph that the
charity will be closed for the next two to three days. The Charity
Commission, which registers and regulates charities in England and
Wales, launched an inquiry into the ICE in November last year over
<serious governance concerns.> Earlier this month, the commission
appointed a senior partner at an international law firm as manager <due
to the trustees' failure to comply with their legal duties and
responsibilities and their failure to protect the charity's assets.> The
watchdog said the interim manager <will conduct a review of the
charity's governance and administration and make recommendations to the
Commission based on her findings.> A Charity Commission spokesman said
on May 24, <We are aware of the developments at the charity. Our inquiry
is ongoing, and we remain in close contact with the interim manager we
appointed to the charity earlier this month. We can't comment further at
this time.> Senior UK politicians have called for the controversial
charity, comprising a religious and cultural center, to be shut down. It
has been described as the <London offic> of the Iranian regime by MP
Alicia Kearns, chair the foreign affairs select committee. Theresa
Villiers, who sits on the intelligence and security select committee,
called the charity <the voice> of Khamenei in the UK. Concerns were
raised after The Telegraph revealed the center had hosted a vigil for
General Ghasem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps' expeditionary Quds Force, who had been killed in a US drone
strike in Baghdad in January 2020. The ICE's director Seyed Hashem
Moosavi praised Soleimani as a <great martyr.> The IRGC funds and
directs terror groups abroad that are linked to the Islamic Republic.
Also, analysis of the sheikhs listed as speakers at the ICE shows that
some have called for <academic jihad> in schools, the eradication of
Western <empires> and the <compassionate> killing of gay people, the
Times newspaper reported. Islamic scholars promoted by the center have
also delivered sermons to crowds that chanted <death to England.> >>

<<Paris Garden Renamed after Mahsa Amini
Authorities in the French capital have renamed a garden after a young
Iranian woman whose death in police custody in September last year
sparked months-long anti-government protests. <In tribute to this
Iranian Kurdish student who died at the age of 22 after being arrested
by police for having worn her hijab improperly, the Jardin Villemin was
renamed <Jardin Villemin - Mahsa Jîna Amini,> the town hall of Paris's
10th district said on its Twitter account on May 23. Anger over Amini's
death in Tehran prompted Iranians to take to the streets nationwide to
demand fundamental economic, social and political changes. The security
forces have unleashed a brutal clampdown on the women-led protest
movement, killing more than 520 people during demonstrations and
unlawfully detaining over 20,000 others, activists say. Following biased
trials, the judiciary has handed down stiff sentences, including the
death penalty, to protesters.>>

Four Tortured Protesters Face Death Penalty over Alleged 'Killing' of
Basij Member
On November 16 last year, three men named Ali Abbasi, Morad Bahramian
and Muslem Hoshangi were shot and killed by security agents during mass
protests in Samirom, a city in Isfahan province. On December 31, which
coincided with mourning ceremonies marking 40th days since their death,
the streets of Samirom witnessed a surge of protests against the Islamic
Republic amid heavy presence of security and military forces throughout
the city. Clashes resulted in the alleged death of Mohsen Rezaei, a
member of the paramilitary Basij force. In response, hundreds of special
police forces were deployed to various points across Samirom starting
from the morning of January 1, according to information received by
IranWire. Raids were conducted on the homes of some of the victims'
families and arrested a number of people, including Abbasi's sister and
Bahramian's two brothers.
IranWire understands that four people arrested for participating in the
protests face the death penalty.
Since the November 16 incident in Samirom, security forces have
intensified pressure on the families of the deceased and other
demonstrators. On the morning of January 1, alongside reports of arrests
in Samirom, Morteza Amomehedi, the deputy commander of the Isfahan
Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed that a Basij member named Mohsen
Rezaei had been killed during the previous night's protests. The
authorities alleged that the arrests were made in connection with this
incident.
What Happened in Samirom on December 31?
During the first months of the <Women, Life, Freedom> protest movement,
Samirom was the scene of widespread street protests. On December 31,
while mourners were gathered at the grave of Abbasi, his sister compared
the youth of Iran to a resilient <phoenix.> <It's hard to believe, Ali,
that no one has had the courage to hang your obituary on the door or the
wall yet. Just a few days ago, your Mandatory Military Service
Completion Card arrived by mail,> she said.
<But now the drums of war have started to beat.>
A resident of Samirom told IranWire that a large crowd attended the
mourning ceremony for Abbasi. <The following day, a significant number
of citizens gathered in front of the governor's office to protest
against the killings and oppression of the people.> <At around 5 a.m.,
security forces launched an attack on Ali Abbasi's house with the
intention of arresting his sister, who had delivered a speech at the
gravesite. However, Ali's uncle resisted their actions. Mr. Shiri, Ali
Abbasi's uncle, managed to help his sister escape, but during the
confrontation with the officers, they threw him from the roof, resulting
in a broken arm and leg.> According to the witness, Ali Abbasi's uncle
was transported to Samirom Hospital by his relatives, but the hospital
was swiftly surrounded by security forces. The witness added that the
authorities <attempted to apprehend Mr. Shiri....but the people
prevented them from entering the hospital.> <Mr. Shiri underwent surgery
that night. However, on the same night, the agents arrested the two
brothers of Murad Bahramian, who had lost his life during the recent
protests.>
What is the condition of the detainees?
According to IranWire’s source, Fazel and Mehran Bahramian, the brothers
of Murad Bahramian, a close relative named Younes Bahramian and another
man named Dariush Saadi have been subjected to torture to extract
confessions related to the alleged murder of the Basij militiaman.
<Nearly 1,000 security forces and special units were dispatched from
Isfahan to Semirom to apprehend these individuals, outnumbering the
protesters on the streets,> the source said. The Chief of Justice of
Isfahan province claimed that Mohsen Rezaei was killed during <illegal>
gatherings in front of the Semirom governorate. <These citizens are
well-known and highly respected in Semirom,> an informed source told
IranWire. <The families of the victims are grieving and outraged over
the killing of Mahsa Amini and the spilt blood of their loved ones.> The
bereaved families remain silent, fearing for the lives of those
arrested. They are not allowed to hire legal representation. The
authorities informed them that their sentences have not been announced
to avoid further disturbance in Semirom. Based on information received
by IranWire, Fazel and Mehran Bahramian were transferred to solitary
cells at the Isfahan IRGC Intelligence Department, located in Dolat
Abad, 10 days after their arrest. According to a reliable source, the
two prisoners endured severe torture until March 19, after which they
were moved to Ward A of Dastgerd prison in Isfahan.
....
Both men are currently held in solitary confinement at the IRGC
intelligence detention center in Dolat Abad, Isfahan province, with
limited communication permitted with their relatives. <Although no trial
has taken place for these four individuals, the interrogators have
informed them verbally that they are accused of waging war and
corruption, leaving them with no choice but to confess to the charges
leveled against them,> a source told IranWire. Both charges carry a
death sentence. <The people of Samirom are deeply concerned for the fate
of their fellow citizens and urgently call upon freedom advocates
worldwide to amplify their voices in support of these detainees before
it is too late,> the source said.>>

In the ongoing wave of suppression of students by the intelligence and
security institutions of the Mullah regime, eight medical students in
Tabriz have been sentenced to academic suspension and exile to the
cities of Ahvaz, Semnan, Kashan, Urmia, and Ardabil. These unjust
verdicts were issued after these students protested the widespread
poisoning of schools during a gathering on March 7, 2023. Mir-Mehdi
Mousavian, a medical student, has been sentenced to a 2-year academic
suspension and exile to Semnan. Mohammad-Amin Soltanzadeh, a medical
student at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, has been sentenced by
the Central Disciplinary Council of the Ministry of Health to a 3-term
academic suspension and educational exile to the city of Kashan. Sohila
Sepidedam, a pharmacy student, has been sentenced to a 4-term academic
suspension and educational exile to Ahvaz.

Opinion by Gino d'Artali to the below: I simply had the urge to include
the below quote and url to the actual article because first of I highly
and deeply solidarize with the Palestinians because I've been there and
was a witness of the heinous crimes of the fascist israeli armee and
today the latter's crimes are even more heinous because even more
directed at innocent children. And it makes me think of the heinousity
of the fascist iranian mullah's who are on a hanging spree of innocent
children because to a mother a son or daughter is or will always be her
baby. Here goes:
MEMO - Middle East Monitor -
<<Gaza: Israel confesses to intentionally killing children to pressure
resistance
May 13, 2023
While the Israeli occupation boasts about targeting military leaders of
the Palestinian resistance, the photos and field reports in the Gaza
Strip reveal that the assassinations also caused the deaths of dozens of
Palestinian civilians, including women and children. Yossi Klein, a
writer for Israel's Haaretz newspaper, wrote: <There's nothing like
killing children for bringing together hearts and minds. For the past 18
weeks, Israelis have been fighting each other, unable to find anything
to bring us closer together. Then came the killing of the children in
the Gaza Strip and proved that we're brothers, after all.> Klein added
in an article translated by Arabi21: <Barriers fell, and ill will was
forgotten. Yair Lapid placed a consoling arm on Benjamin Netanyahu's
shoulder, while Benny Gantz leaned his head against May Golan, and it
was surprising that the entire Knesset didn't stand up and spontaneously
break out to sing 'Hatikva'. It must be admitted, killing children is
the most heinous of crimes. There is no crime more contemptible; in that
lies its despicableness and its power. It acts as a deterrent, it's
effective, and streams fresh, new blood to flow into our arteries.>
Klein noted: <If anyone had any doubt that the air force is strong and
threatening, the childrens' killing went and proved that it's too early
to say any eulogies for it. It's strong, it's terrifying and it's
confronting an army of about 30,000 soldiers who lack the means for
aerial combat,> pointing out that: <The killing of children and the
bombing of civilians are of greater deterrence and effectiveness than
any 'target bank', the infamous 'collapsing' of buildings, or any
attempt to 'eradicate the foundations of terrorism once and for
all.'>The writer conveyed: <Killing children is designed to cause pain,
to strike the most sensitive place of all. It isn't designed to stop
terrorism; it's designed to deter the terrorists and make us happy. When
Itamar Ben-Gvir talks about 'a painful blow,' I imagine that he's
referring precisely to that. In fact, he should change his election
slogan - not '50 dead terrorists for every missile,' but rather '50 dead
children for every missile,'> noting that killing Palestinian children
is an effective step engraved in the memory of Israeli public opinion.
Klein stressed: <The pictures of eight-year-old Ali Izzeldeen and his
12-year-old sister, Miar, are impossible to forget. They look too
similar to our own children - after all, everyone knows a child of a
similar age - and the thought that we killed them should give us no
rest. These thoughts will always continue to haunt us because these
pictures are not the result of just a minor misstep. It's not like a
pilot arrives, boards a plane, kills whatever number of nameless,
faceless human beings and returns for lunch. Here, with the dead
children from Gaza, these are pictures that will haunt him all his life
and appear in his nightmares. I'm sure that in the pilots' training
course they prepare cadets for such a situation - a case in which their
personal conscience stands in contradiction with their professional
duty.> These Israeli confessions may find their way to publication in
time. It holds the occupation army responsible for committing violent
massacres against Palestinian civilians, especially children, under the
pretext of deterring the Palestinian resistance, which has proven, in
all operations, its moral superiority over the occupation when it
avoided targeting women and children. Unlike the Israelis - by their own
admission.>>
