More than 50,000 child migrants disappeared
Jinha - Womens News Agency - May 1, 2024
<<More than 50,000 child migrants disappeared in Europe
More than 50,000 child migrants went missing after their arrival in
Europe between 2021 and the end of 2023, according to new research by
cross-border journalism collective Lost in Europe.
News Center- More than 50,000 child migrants went missing upon arrival
in Europe between 2021 and the end of 2023, according to new research by
cross-border journalism collective Lost in Europe. At least 51,433
unaccompanied refugee minors were registered as missing between 2021 and
the end of 2023, according to data requested from 31 European countries,
including Austria, Germany, and Italy.
Numbers substantially increase
In 2021, Lost in Europe found that at least 18,000 unaccompanied minors
had disappeared after arriving in Europe between 2018 and 2020. Their
latest data in 2024 shows that the numbers have substantially increased.
According to the research, Italy has the highest number of registered
missing unaccompanied minors, with 22,899, followed by Austria (20,077),
Belgium (2,241), Germany (2,005), and Switzerland (1,226). <The number
of missing children may be even higher because the data is often
inconsistent and incomplete, and many countries in Europe do not even
collect data on missing unaccompanied minors,> Lost in Europe said.
These figures have been described as <worrying> by Aagje Ieven,
Secretary General of Missing Children Europe. <The increased number of
reports on missing unaccompanied minors serves as a sharp reminder of
the giant iceberg that looms beneath the surface,> AAgje Ieven told Lost
in Europe.>>

Displaced women of Serekaniye
Jinha - Womens News Agency - May 1, 2024 - by RONIDA HACI
<<Displaced women of Serekaniye: Our resistance will continue
Displaced women of Serekaniye (Ras al-Ayn), who live in Washokani camp,
say their resistance will continue until they return to their hometown.
Hasakah- Since the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions occupied
Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ayn), a city in northeastern Syria, thousands of
people were forcibly displaced and some live in the Washokani camp, an
informal internally displaced person (IDP) camp in Hasakah. The
displaced women of Serekaniye want to return to their hometown.
'We want to return to our hometown'
The Turkish state violated international law by occupying our city, said
Şemsa Eli, one of displaced women living in the camp. <We have been
resisting in the Washokani camp for five years. Women are the ones who
suffer the most and who struggle the most. We had houses and
agricultural lands in Serekaniye. We made great efforts there. The
occupation of our city destroyed all of our efforts. The Turkish state
underestimates people and their dignity,> said Şemsa Eli, criticizing
the silence of the international community against Turkish occupation.
<On the occasion of the International Workers' Day, I would like to say
that we want to return to our hometown.>
'We will keep resisting'
<Our presence in the camp is important for returning to our hometown,>
said Cemila Mihemed, another displaced woman living in the camp. No one
should talk about human rights or the International Workers' Day because
everyone remained silent while we were displaced from our hometown. No
humanitarian organizations have provided support to us until now. Only
the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has provided
support to us. It keeps providing support to us despite all the attacks
on North and East Syria.> Cemila Mihemed told us that their living
conditions in the camp deteriorated in summer. <We expect nothing from
anyone. We resist and will resist until we return to our hometown.> >>

Taliban issue orders to violate human rights
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 30, 2024
<<Taliban issue over 200 decrees, orders violating human rights since
2021
The Taliban have issued over 200 decrees and orders that violate human
rights since August 2021, according to a report released by human rights
organizations.
News Center- The Taliban have issued over 200 decrees and orders that
violate the rights of the Afghan people, especially women, since the
Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in August 2021, said a report
released by human rights organizations on Monday. <From August 2021 and
October 2023, the Taliban issued over 200 decrees and orders that

Review (UPR) Working Group held in Geneva on the human rights situations
in Afghanistan, the report said, <The Taliban have enacted laws banning

TJK-E
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 30, 2024
<<TJK-E calls on all women to take to streets on May 1
The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) has released a statement
calling on all women to take to the streets on May 1, International
Workers' Day, against wars, genocidal attacks and capitalism.
News Center- The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) has released
a written statement to mark the International Workers' Day, annually
celebrated on May 1.
'Women are exploited and made invisible'
The capitalist system makes women invisible in politics and social life
by exploiting their labor, the statement said. <This system does not see
women as equal, normalizes violence, harassment and rape and paves the
way for femicide.>
Pointing to gender inequality in all facets of life, including politics,
social and cultural life, the statement said, <The capital's unlimited
profit aim, the attacks on people and nature, the exploitation of cheap
labor and labor exploitation, high inflation and the rise in energy,
food and rent prices cause people to suffer from financial
difficulties.> Despite everything, women keep ruining the plans of the
system by developing themselves and struggling, the TJK-E said in the
statement. <Women have become more visible today and started a war
against the sexist attitudes developed against labor and the principle
of freedom and equality. In order to make women more visible, women
should play leading roles in syndicates. The syndicates should implement
the co- representation system so that the role of women does not remain
behind the scenes. This will also pave the way for equality, the fight
against sexist attitudes and breaking the patriarchal system.>
'We call on all women to take to the streets on May 1'
Emphasizing the struggle of Kurdish women and the perspective of 'Jin,
Jiyan, Azadi (English: Women, Life, Freedom)', the statement said:
<Leader Apo (Abdullah Ocalan) has shown that women can change their
societies by playing their leading role in all facets of life and
struggling against the system of oppression. Women's struggle can build
a free and democratic life and the 21st century will be the century of
women. On the International Workers' Day, we will unite for our own
identity, language, culture and the freedom of our leader and say 'No'
to the capitalist system. We will grow our struggle against genocidal
policies with the motto, 'Our Leader's Freedom is Our Freedom'. We call
on all women to take to the streets on May 1 with their colors and
flags.> >>

Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 30, 2024 - by BERJIN KARA
<<Jineology Committee in Makhmour aims to change mindset through
education
The Jineology Committee in Makhmour Refugee Camp aims to change mindset
by periodically holding training and research courses for eight years.
<Courses are important to build a free society,> said Rojin Turan, a
member of the committee.
Makhmour- The Jineology Committee was established in the Makhmour Martyr
Rustem Cudi Camp (Makhmour Refugee Camp) in 2016. Since it was
established, the committee has been carrying out many awareness-raising
activities for women. Conducting research on women's history, writing,
political, social and economic participation, the committee has been
organizing training courses for its members twice a week for three
years.
Courses in neighborhoods and schools
NuJINHA spoke to Filiz Budak, Co-chair of the People's Assembly and one
of the administrators of the committee, about the committees purpose
and activities. The committee organizes courses in neighborhoods and
schools, she said. <The committee organizes training courses on the
system based on democracy, writings of leader Apo (Abdullah Ocalan),
women's history, the reality of women and women's roles in society.>
'The committee aims to change mindset'
The Jineology Committee in Makhmour Refugee Camp published a book
telling the lives of women in the camp.
<We also organize courses on Jineology and womens history. It has been
organizing training courses for its members twice a week for three
years. The committee aims to change mindset by organizing
awareness-raising activities and courses in the camp. The women
attending the courses watch documentaries and films on womens history,
struggle and existence.>
Research on the history of Kurdistan
The women attending the courses also read books on the history of
Kurdistan, Filiz Budak told us. <During our last course, women read and
discussed Martyr Helmet's book on the history of Kurdistan. The book is
about the Kurdish language, the Kurdish struggle for freedom and Kurdish
uprisings in the history and the history of the PKK. At the courses,
women discuss how Kurdish political parties and organizations rose up
and the roles of women in those uprisings. They also discuss the
policies carried out in Kurdistan and how women have struggled against
these policies.>
'Education is a step towards freedom'
Rojin Turan, a member of the Jineology Committee in Makhmour, thinks
that education is an important role towards freedom. <It is an important
step towards freedom, especially for womens freedom. The education
programs on Jineology help women make a difference in their lives
because Jineology literally means the science of women. Jineology aims
to take back the stolen rights of women.> Rojin Turan also told us why
she decided to be a member of the committee. <I saw how women were
oppressed in society so I decided to be a member of the committee to
change this. I attended the courses of the committee so that I would not
be a slave to this system and the patriarchal mindset.>
'All women should attend the courses'
Rojin Turan called on all women to attend the courses organized by the
committee and said, <Women learn how to express themselves without fear.
We, as a group of young women, have been attending the courses for about
two months. Now, we know more things about ourselves and our society.
All women should attend the courses to improve themselves.> >>
