<<DEM Party: Kurdish journalists continue to pursue the truth
<Kurdish journalists continue to pursue the truth,> the DEM Party said in a written statement to mark the anniversary of the publication of the Kurdistan Newspaper.
News Center- The Peoples' Democracy and Equality Party (DEM Party) Press Commission has released a written statement to mark the 126th anniversary of the publication of the Kurdistan Newspaper. The journey of the Kurdistan Newspaper began 126 years ago in Cairo, Egypt and it was an important step in the Kurdish struggle for enlightenment, national consciousness, equality and freedom, the statement said. <Despite the ongoing attacks, obstacles, arrests and assimilation policies, thousands of Kurdish journalists have followed in the footsteps of Mikdad Midhad Bedir Khan and pursued the trust for 126 years. The Kurdistan Newspaper was not only a newspaper; it has become the name of a shining truth in the Middle East 126 years ago against denial and destruction policies. The history of the Kurdish press has proven that it is also an area of struggle and resistance and despite all the attacks, this enlightenment movement has expanded in the whole region.>
'Kurdish journalists played a leading role'
The Kurdish press workers were determined to carry the torch of enlightenment left by the Kurdistan Newspaper in the dark days of the 90s, the statement said. <And they played a leading role in the political and intellectual change in the 2000s. Many incidents that were tried to be kept in the dark and forgotten such as massacres, oppression and human rights violations were revealed by the Kurdish journalists. The Kurdish journalists were oppressed, tortured, attacked and arrested for struggling for truth.>
'They have been subjected to oppression, censorship and attacks'
Kurdish journalists have been subjected to a great wave of oppression, censorship and attack by the AKP government especially in the last 20 years, the statement added. <Many press outlets such as newspapers, news agencies, channels and radio stations, were closed down by an emergency decree in the aftermath of a failed coup in Turkey in 2016. The attacks on the Kurdish press and the Kurdish language are going on as a continuation of historical oppression and attacks. These attacks turned into annihilation attacks in the 90s. Today, massacres have been carried out against academics and journalists such as Nagihan Akarsel. Happy Kurdish Journalists Day to all Kurdish press workers and Mikdad Midhad Bedir Khan, the founder of the Kurdistan Newspaper. We commemorate all press martyrs in the person of Musa Anter, Gurbetelli Ersoz, Nagihan Akarsel, Hafız Akdemir and Huseyin Deniz. We always remember their legacy, struggle and resistance.> >>

Hundreds kidnapped in Idlib
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 22, 2024 - by SOHA ALI
<<Hundreds kidnapped in Idlib for criticizing HTS
People face rights violations in Idlib occupied by the Turkish state and its armed faction Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). According to the reports, hundreds were kidnapped in the city and secret executions took place in prisons.
Idlib- The number of rights violations in Idlib, occupied by the Turkish state and its armed faction Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) increases every day. In the city, where repressive policies such as detention, torture and arrest have increased, women recently protested these policies. Hundreds have been kidnapped and held in unofficial prisons called <al-Julani> and they have been held in prison for criticizing HTS leader Ahmed Hussein al-Shar'a, known by his nom de guerre as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, and the HTS.
People arrested for opposing the occupation
Zahide Al-Yakup has not known where her 27-year-old son is or whether he is alive or not since he was arrested for criticizing the policies carried out by the HTS. Zahida Al-Yakup has been looking for her son everywhere and now hopes that her son will find a way to reach her. Zahida Al-Yakup learned that her son is accused of <espionage>. <Everyone is accused of espionage for criticizing the HTS,> she told NuJINHA.
People executed and buried without informing their families
Since the occupation of Idlib, the prisons in the city are known as the places for ill-treatment and torture. Thousands of civilians are held in these prisons and many families confirm that many people, who were sentenced to death, have been executed and buried without informing their families. Many families receive no information about their children being held in prisons. Suad Al-Baterji has been struggling to survive with her four children in one of the IDPs camps in the district of Harem since her husband was arrested by the HTS. My husband has not appeared in court yet, Suad Al-Baterji said. <There is no human rights organization to investigate the rights violations in prisons.>
'We are controlled by brutality under the shadow of weapons'
In Idlib, there are many women, who cannot receive any information from their husbands and children. 41-year-old Zeina Al-Damur is one of them. <My son are subjected to torture in prison and his health is deteriorating,> she told NuJINHA. <My son was arrested for criticizing HTS leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani. We are controlled by brutality under the shadow of weapons. We have no law or organization that will demand our rights, reveal what is happening in prisons, and fight for the freedom of our children. We talk about a dictatorship that does not provide any information to families.> >>

Madlen El-Ibed
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 22, 2024 - by SORGUL ŞEXO
<<'A political solution has not been found for the Syrian crisis'
Madlen El-Ibed, Deputy Co-chair of the Til Temir (Tall Tamer) Town Council, calls on the Syrian government to sit at the table for a political solution, emphasizing that the Syrian crisis is deepening.
Hasakah- A new era began in Syria when a civil uprising started in March 2011. Although many meetings were held in different countries to resolve the Syrian crisis, no solution was achieved. During that time, the Turkish state occupied Jarablus in August 2016 and then Afrin, Serekaniye (Ras al-Ayn) and Gire Spi (Tell Abyad) while the fight against ISIS was taking place across North and East Syria.
NuJINHA spoke to Madlen El-Ibed, Deputy Co-chair of the Til Temir (Tall Tamer) Town Council, about the importance of the dialogue between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANED) and the Syrian government for a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
'The Syrian crisis has been deepening'
Madlen El-Ibed thinks that local and international forces have been involved in the Syrian civil war due to the weakening of the political situation of Syria. <The crisis that started in the country in 2011 has been deepening since the Turkish state occupied Serekaniye and Gire Spi. The aim of the Turkish occupation is to stop and paralyze life in North and East Syria and leave the region unsafe. The Turkish state targets civilian infrastructure and farmers in its attacks. Targeting civilian infrastructure and farmers is a crime against humanity. The attacks aim to depopulate the region.>
'The Turkish state supports ISIS'
Speaking about the recent attacks of ISIS in the region, she said, <The whole world knows that the beloved child of the Turkish state is ISIS and it supports ISIS. The Turkish state makes efforts to strengthen the armed factions in our region and occupied areas by creating instability. ISIS members organize themselves in the Syrian countryside and train children in al-Hol camp under the name of the Ashbal al-Khalifa (Cubs of the Caliphate, ISIS's brigade of boys aged between 10 and 15). The presence of ISIS poses a threat to our region and Syria in general. The reason why terrorism has become stronger again in Syria is that the Syrian crisis has not been resolved.>
'The Turkish state benefits from the crisis'
The Syrian crisis is being deepened by the hegemonic powers, Madlen El-Ibe emphasized. <There are powers benefiting from the crisis. The Turkish state benefits from the crisis by carrying its attacks and occupying cities in Syria. The Syrian people live all around the world. A political solution has not been found for the Syrian crisis yet. The Syrian people suffer in all facets of life, including in social life, politics and economy.>
'We demand a political solution'
Madlen El-Ibed believes that the Syrian crisis cannot be resolved through the military. <The Syrian crisis can be resolved only by a political solution. The Damascus government (Syrian government) claims that the AANES aims to divide Syria. But it should know very well that Syria has been already divided by the Turkish state. As the people living in Syria, we demand a political solution to the Syrian crisis. If the Syrian crisis is resolved by a political solution, people from all nationalities, religions and sects in Syria will live together in peace.> >>

Women journalists
Jinha - Womens News Agency - April 22, 2024
<<Women journalists face greater threats online
Women journalists face greater threats online in the course of their work, and the trend is increasing, Julie Posetti, research director of the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), said at an international journalism festival on Saturday.
News Center- <There is significant potential for online violence to escalate to offline harm,> Julie Posetti, research director of the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), said at the Perugia International Journalism Festival on Saturday. <Women tend to face greater threats online and the kind of threats they face are increasing,> she added. She accused Big Tech companies of <a failure to take responsibility>. In 2022, UNESCO and ICFJ conducted a joint study by UNESCO/ICFJ by interviewing 900 journalists from 125 countries. Nearly three-quarters of women journalists interviewed said they had experienced online violence or abuse in connection with their work. The online attacks against women journalists include insults, sexist and sexual comments, and physical threats, including death threats to journalists and their families.>>
