hospitalized. Information received by Hengaw Organization for
Human Rights indicates that the assault took place on
Saturday, December 20, 2025. Bazvand was subjected to severe
physical violence by her brother, who struck her repeatedly on
the head with a vacuum cleaner handle, causing critical
injuries that left her in a coma. An informed source told
Hengaw that the attack was carried out under the pretext that
"the food had not been prepared on time." The same source

Armin Khodayari
Hengaw - Dec 20, 2025
{Former political prisoner Armin Khodayari detained after
opposing death sentences
Armin (Ehsan) Khodayari, a former Turkish political prisoner
from Zanjan, was arrested by government forces in Rasht after
publicly opposing recently issued death sentences. He was
transferred to an undisclosed location. According to
information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights,
Khodayari, 20, was arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025,
while in the city. Sources familiar with the case said that
Khodayari’s mobile phone had been confiscated by government
forces during an earlier conviction. He was recently summoned
under the pretext of retrieving the device. After traveling to
Rasht and failing to appear as instructed, he was arrested and
taken to an unknown location. About two weeks earlier,
Khodayari released a video condemning the death sentences
issued against several of his former fellow prisoners. In the
video, he opposed the death penalty and called for the
annulment of the sentences handed down to Karim Khojasteh,
Peyman Farahavar, and Manouchehr Fallah. Khodayari had
previously been convicted by the Revolutionary Court of Rasht
on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting
the Supreme Leader” and sentenced to one year in prison. He
was released from Lakan Prison in Rasht after serving his
sentence. He was also arrested in September 2024 for
publishing a call to commemorate the second anniversary of the
death of Jina Amini. After nearly two months of detention in
the detention facility of Prison No. 2 in Rasht, he was
transferred to Lakan Prison in late December of the same year.

The life of Mehreb Abdollahzadeh, a Kurdish man from Urmia is
in serious danger following the confirmation of his death
sentence by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He
was arrested during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan,
Azadi) uprising, According to information received by the
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the death sentence of
27-year-old Abdollahzadeh has recently been fully upheld by
Branch 9 of Iran’s Supreme Court. On Thursday, December 18,
the ruling was officially communicated to him, and he has
since been instructed to submit a “request for pardon.” Last
summer, Abdollahzadeh was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of
the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge
Najafzadeh, on the charge of “baghi” (armed rebellion). Hengaw
previously reported that the case against Abdollahzadeh
includes allegations linking him to the killing of a Basij
member, on the basis of which he was prosecuted on charges of
“baghi.” Abdollahzadeh was abducted by state forces in autumn
2022 during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising and transferred
to a security detention facility in Urmia. After months of

Iran Threatens Families of Detained Protesters With Arrest,
Relatives Say
Iranian authorities have threatened to arrest family members
of protesters detained at a memorial service, according to
relatives who say they are facing mounting pressure to stop
speaking publicly. Marzieh Adinehzadeh said on Sunday that an
investigator warned her family of possible arrest after they
inquired about her father’s detention. Her father, Ali
Adinehzadeh, was among dozens arrested on December 12
following a seven-day memorial ceremony in Mashhad for lawyer
Khosrow Alikordi. Adinehzadeh said her father was beaten
during his arrest and has since been held in solitary
confinement without access to family members or a lawyer.
Authorities also confiscated his bank cards and have refused
to return them despite repeated requests, she said. According
to Adinehzadeh, Judge Gholamreza Akbari Moghaddam of Branch
One of the Revolutionary Court approved the detention without
providing a clear justification. Adinehzadeh’s brother,
Abolfazl, was killed during the 2022 protests. Separately,
Mahshid Nazemi said security agents contacted the families of
several detainees on Sunday and ordered them to stop sharing
information about their relatives’ conditions. The agents said
detained women are being held in solitary confinement and are
in “good” condition, according to Nazemi, whose mother, Pouran
Nazemi, was arrested at the memorial. However, families
questioned why detainees have not made any direct contact
after more than 10 days. Iranian authorities have confirmed
the arrest of 39 people following the memorial service, but
human rights activists say the actual number exceeds 50. The
arrests have drawn widespread condemnation. More than 1,000
political, social, cultural, and artistic activists have
signed a joint statement calling for the immediate and
unconditional release of all detainees. Khosrow Alikordi died
under suspicious circumstances earlier this month in Mashhad.
His memorial service attracted civil activists and families of
other victims.{} Source: https://iranwire.com/en/news/147102-iran-threatens-families-of-detained-protesters-with-arrest-relatives-say/

Families of Slain Iranian Protesters Gather

{Families of Slain Iranian Protesters Gather at Cemetery on
Yalda Night Eve
Families of Iranians killed during the 2022 Woman, Life,
Freedom protests gathered at a cemetery on Sunday to
commemorate their loved ones and protest deteriorating
economic conditions on the eve of the traditional Yalda Night
celebration. The families gathered at Beheshti Mohammadi
Cemetery in Sanandaj, holding placards and chanting slogans
about economic hardship. “No to empty tables,” protesters
chanted, according to reports from the gathering, linking
their demands for justice with the widespread economic
struggles facing ordinary Iranians. The families blamed the
Islamic Republic for a deepening economic crisis marked by
high inflation, unemployment, and poverty. The demonstration
connected their grief over lost relatives with broader
dissatisfaction over living conditions in Iran. The timing of
the protest carried symbolic weight, taking place on one of
Iran’s most significant cultural occasions. Yalda Night,
celebrated on the winter solstice, traditionally brings
Iranian families together to feast and mark the longest night
of the year. The 2022 protests erupted after the death of
22-year-old Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish woman from nearby Saqqez,
who died in police custody after being arrested for allegedly
violating Iran’s mandatory hijab rules. The demonstrations
spread nationwide under the slogan Woman, Life, Freedom and
represented the most serious challenge to Iran’s government in
years.} Source: https://iranwire.com/en/news/147100-families-of-slain-iranian-protesters-gather-at-cemetery-on-yalda-night-eve/

{Tehran Man Dies After Argument Over Pomegranate Prices
A middle-aged man died on Saturday after arguing with a street
vendor over pomegranate prices on the eve of the Yalda Night
celebration, authorities said, prompting a police
investigation. The man, identified only as Khosrow, collapsed
and lost consciousness moments after the dispute in south
Tehran, according to local reports. He died after being taken
to a hospital. Police have classified the death as suspicious
and are searching for the vendor, who fled the scene in his
truck. The confrontation occurred on Saturday evening as
Iranians prepared to celebrate Yalda Night, an ancient winter
solstice tradition during which families gather to eat
pomegranates and other foods. Khosrow had stopped at the
vendor’s truck to buy fruit when he objected to the high
prices. “The argument was about the high price of
pomegranates,” an eyewitness said. “Suddenly, the man’s
condition worsened, and he fell to the ground. The seller
panicked and drove away in his truck.” Bystanders called
emergency services and transported Khosrow to a hospital,
where he was pronounced dead. Initial hospital examinations
determined the cause of death to be a heart attack. However,
Tehran’s homicide unit opened an investigation given the
circumstances surrounding the argument, and authorities
ordered additional forensic tests. Medical examiners will
determine whether stress from the confrontation contributed to
the fatal heart attack, police said. Detectives are working to
identify and arrest the vendor. Iran has faced severe economic
pressure in recent years due to international sanctions and
high inflation, driving up food prices.} Source: https://iranwire.com/en/news/147098-tehran-man-dies-after-argument-over-pomegranate-prices/

Ali Mohammadi
Hengaw - Dec 22, 2025
{Update on Ali Mohammadi, detained father of ‘Woman, Life,
Freedom’ protest victim
Ali Mohammadi, a member of Kurdistan’s justice-seeking
families and the father of Shahriar Mohammadi, has been
detained for 44 days after being arrested by Iranian
government forces and transferred to Bukan Central Prison. He
is facing what authorities have described as
“security-related” charges. Information received by Hengaw
Organization for Human Rights indicates that Ali Mohammadi,
56, a resident of Bukan, has been charged by the Public and
Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Bukan with accusations
including “separatism,” “affiliation with Komala,” and
“communication with terrorist groups.” The attribution of
these charges comes despite statements from those close to
Mohammadi, who say that this justice-seeking father has never
been a member of any political party or organization. They
describe the accusations as an attempt to fabricate a case
against him in connection with his pursuit of justice. Ali
Mohammadi is currently being held in Ward 1, Section 8 of
Bukan Central Prison, and his case has reportedly been
assigned to Judge Fakhri. Shahriar Mohammadi, Ali Mohammadi’s
son, was killed at the age of 29 on the evening of Friday,
November 18, 2022, after being shot directly by Iranian
government forces during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” (Jin,

{Iranian government forces detain Sadegh Mansouri in Mashhad
Iranian government forces have detained Sadegh Mansouri, a
resident of Mashhad, and transferred him to an undisclosed
location. His arrest is linked to his attendance at the
memorial ceremony for the late Kurdish lawyer Khosrow
Alikordi. According to information received by the Hengaw
Organization for Human Rights, Mansouri — a calligraphy
instructor at the Mashhad Calligraphers Association — was
arrested during a raid on his home on Saturday, December 21,
2025, and taken to an unknown location. Sources told Hengaw
that government agents cited Mansouri’s participation in the
seventh-day memorial ceremony for Khosrow Alikordi as the
reason for his detention. Mansouri has previously been
detained on security-related grounds. Iranian security forces
have arrested several participants who attended the
seventh-day memorial ceremony for Alikordi, which was held on
Friday, December 12, 2025, with the presence of civil rights
activists and former political prisoners. No information has
been made available regarding the formal charges against
Mansouri, his place of detention, or his current condition.

Iranfocus - Dec 22, 2025 Mehdi Hosseini
{Rising Food Prices Threaten Health of Iran’s Population
Ahmad Esmailzadeh, director general of the Community Nutrition
Improvement Office at the Health Ministry of the Iranian
regime, warned about the negative consequences of rising food
prices—especially dairy products and protein sources—on the
nutritional health of Iran’s population. In an interview with
ISNA, a state-run news agency, on Sunday, December 21,
Esmailzadeh referred to the continued price hikes in the
country and said: “In recent months, concerns about people’s
nutrition have multiplied, and there is a fear that people may
suffer from nutrient deficiencies.” He added that the Health
Ministry has repeatedly warned that rising food prices could
lead to people’s “malnutrition,” because “even middle and
higher income deciles” under current conditions have reduced
their consumption of dairy and protein. In recent weeks, an
unprecedented rise in food prices and basic goods in Iran has
placed heavy pressure on citizens’ lives. Experts and social
activists have warned that the continuation of this trend
could have serious consequences, including damage to public
health, the spread of malnutrition, and intensified
psychological pressure on society.
The need to allocate subsidies for people’s nutrition
Continuing his interview, Esmailzadeh called for the
allocation of subsidies in the field of nutrition and stressed
that such a subsidy is “not a waste of resources.” He said: “A
subsidy for the nutrition sector is a form of prevention
against the emergence of chronic diseases in the coming years,
which costs far less than treatment.” According to this Health
Ministry official of the regime, if the government allocates
“one percent of the taxes from food factories” to the
Community Nutrition Improvement Office, these resources “could
significantly reduce the burden on the country’s healthcare
system in the coming years.” On October 20, the Rouydad24 news
website reported that with the intensification of the economic
crisis and a sharp decline in people’s purchasing power, a
growing number of Iranian citizens have lost the ability to
secure essential food items, and malnutrition has now become a
factor in about 35% of deaths in the country.
Warning about the consequences of malnutrition
Esmailzadeh also warned about the long-term consequences of
the food crisis in the country and said: “Suffering from
malnutrition leads to a reduction in the workforce in the
future.” He added: “The effects of reduced consumption of
dairy, fruits, vegetables, and legumes will appear in the form
of increased chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases,
strokes, osteoporosis, fractures, and other health problems.”
According to Esmailzadeh, the burden resulting from such
conditions “will fall on this ministry,” forcing it to spend
more on treatment. Following the Iranian regime’s ineffective
policies in economic, domestic, and foreign affairs over
recent decades, runaway inflation has severely affected
citizens’ lives, and the prices of basic goods have faced an
unprecedented surge. This comes as Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh,
the agriculture minister of the Iranian regime, on October 8
described the trend of rising prices in the country as
“logical” and said that food prices in Iran are “cheap even
compared to global prices.”
Criticism over the lack of practical action to improve
conditions
Esmailzadeh stated that if resources are allocated to the
Community Nutrition Improvement Office of the Health Ministry,
programs such as the distribution of milk in schools would be
implemented. At the same time, he acknowledged: “The current
situation is such that we constantly have to talk about the
worsening of malnutrition or point to the reduction in calcium
and protein consumption. Unfortunately, many issues remain
only at the level of words and talk, and there is no practical
action beyond that.” In November, media in Iran reported that
despite the Education Ministry’s promise to distribute milk in
Iranian schools, the plan has been implemented in only four
provinces. This is while in the current year’s budget, 65
trillion rials (approximately 50 million dollars) had been
allocated for the implementation of this plan.} Source: https://iranfocus.com/economy/56431-rising-food-prices-threaten-health-of-irans-population/

{Iranian Workers Have No Table to Put Food on as Poverty and
Destitution Intensify
At the same time as the deterioration of living conditions for
working-class households and wages falling far behind living
costs, an inspector from the Iranian regime’s Supreme Council
of Islamic Labor Councils said that with this runaway
inflation and soaring prices, there is no longer any table
left for workers. Habib Sadeghzadeh Tabrizi told ILNA, a
state-run news agency, on Sunday, December 21: “One gram of
gold is equivalent to about one month of a worker’s minimum
wage,” describing this as indicative of the deep gap between
wages approved by the Supreme Labor Council and the real cost
of living. Currently, the base wage for workers covered by the
Labor Law is close to 110 million rials (approximately 85
dollars) per month. This amount, including benefits, reaches
about 150 million rials (approximately 115 dollars) per month.
In contrast, some government-aligned labor groups have said
that the monthly cost-of-living basket has reached 580 million
rials (approximately 654 dollars). Previously, the Haft-Tappeh
Sugarcane Workers’ Syndicate, the Coordinating Committee to
Help Form Labor Organizations, Khuzestan retired workers, and
the Eighth of Azar Retirees’ اتحاد group had stressed in a
joint statement that the minimum wage for the coming year
should be 600 million rials (approximately 462 dollars). These
independent labor and retiree groups had called in 2024 for
setting a wage of 400 to 450 million rials (approximately 308
to 346 dollars) for the current year. Referring to Article 41
of the Labor Law, adopted in 1990, Sadeghzadeh Tabrizi said
that this legal article, which was supposed to set wages based
on inflation and living costs, has today turned into an
ineffective text. The two notes of Article 41 of the Labor Law
stress that the minimum wage for workers must be set based on
the inflation rate and the cost of living of a working-class
household. However, over the years, members of the Supreme
Labor Council have ignored the second note and set the
following year’s wage at a level that has been even lower than
that same year’s living costs. Labor activists and independent
labor organizations have described this approach as a policy
of “wage suppression.” Sadeghzadeh Tabrizi added in his
interview with ILNA that the Supreme Labor Council sets wages
at the end of each year, but those wages lose their value even
before being deposited into workers’ accounts. He added that
the wage for 2025 was set based on a dollar exchange rate of
850,000 rials, while now, with only three months remaining
until the end of the year (the Iranian New Year begins on
March 21, 2026), the dollar has reached a rate of 1.31 million
rials. Sadeghzadeh Tabrizi pointed out that the stark gap
between official decisions and economic realities has placed
workers in a situation where they no longer have the ability
to plan their daily lives. In this regard, Majid Rahmati, a
board member of the Islamic Labor Council Association of
Tehran Province, told ILNA on Friday, December 19: “According
to a report by the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social
Welfare that I reviewed in Azar, household calorie consumption
has dropped by about 30% compared to ten years ago.”
Emphasizing that reduced consumption of dairy products and
basic food items carries social consequences and serious
health impacts, he said: “When a family cannot provide an
adequate food basket, especially for its child or infant, the
ground is effectively laid for illness and malnutrition.” Also
according to ILNA, Sadeghzadeh Tabrizi in part of his remarks
referred to workers paying taxes and stressed: “Workers whose
wages do not even cover basic living expenses should not be
subjected to additional tax pressure.” Earlier, Somayeh
Golpour, head of the Supreme Association of Workers’ Trade
Unions, had suggested to the Eghtesadnews website on Friday,
December 19 that because inflation for 2026 is not considered
in the cost-of-living basket, “the equivalent of one and a
half grams of gold per month from Farvardin to Esfand should
form the basis of the minimum wage.” She added that this
measure should “also include those who work in contracting
jobs, employees who receive the minimum wage, and retirees who
are affected.” Golpour also said that another proposal is for
the constitutional legal obligations—namely the provision of
housing, full and free healthcare, free education, and free
transportation—to be implemented. According to her, these are
matters that “have existed in the heart of the constitution
for years, and deprived groups, lower deciles, workers, and
retirees have suffered from their non-implementation.” Golpour
noted in this interview that 80% of workers’ wages are spent
on housing costs. At the same time as criticism mounts over
the living conditions of workers and other wage earners, the
government of Iranian regime president Masoud Pezeshkian is
seeking, through parliament, to amend Article 41 of the Labor
Law by removing the “cost of living” criterion from minimum
wage calculations and limiting wage increases solely to the
official inflation rate. Ahmad Meydari, the minister of
Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, said on Wednesday,
December 17 about the government’s plan to raise workers’
wages next year: “A law is under review in parliament
according to which wage increases must be at least in line
with inflation, which we are also taking into account, and
after reviewing all these issues, it will become clear how the
matter can be pursued with workers and employers.” In this
way, the Pezeshkian government is seeking to remove the second
note—namely “living costs”—from wage determination
calculations. The publication of these remarks has sparked
criticism from users in workers’ Telegram groups, with one
user describing the labor minister’s proposed move as
“decision-making against the people.”} Source: https://iranfocus.com/economy/56429-iranian-workers-have-no-table-to-put-food-on-as-poverty-and-destitution-intensify/

Mahmoud Baluchi Razi
Iranfocus - Dec 20, 2025 Jubin Katiraie
{Amnesty International Calls for Immediate Release of
Imprisoned 16-Year-Old Baluch Child
Amnesty International urged the authorities of Iran’s regime
to immediately release Mahmoud Baluchi Razi, a
sixteen-year-old child. According to the human rights
organization, he was arbitrarily arrested about two weeks ago
and subjected to torture and other ill-treatment in order to
force his father to surrender. In a statement issued on
Friday, December 19, Amnesty International referred to the
arrest of Baluchi Razi at his school in Nikshahr County in
Sistan and Baluchestan province by agents of the Ministry of
Intelligence, Iran’s main intelligence agency, on December 7,
writing that by refusing for several days to disclose his fate
and place of detention to his family, the authorities exposed
him to enforced disappearance. According to the statement,
Amnesty International researchers learned that interrogators
subjected Baluchi Razi to “beatings” and forced him to contact
his family and tell them that his father must surrender in
order to secure his son’s release. Amnesty International noted
that Baluchi Razi has been denied access to a lawyer and
stated that he is being held in a juvenile detention center in
Kerman province, about 800 kilometers away from his family’s
place of residence. The organization called for him to be
protected against torture and any further ill-treatment and to
be granted immediate access to his family and a lawyer. The
human rights organizations had previously reported that the
arrest of Baluchi Razi, a sixteen-year-old Baluch child, was
carried out by forces of the Intelligence Department of Kerman
province through a raid on his school in the village of Chanf,
located in Nikshahr County. The organization added that the
arrest was carried out “without presenting a judicial
warrant.” According to the reports, security institutions of
the Iranian regime have repeatedly used the arrest of children
and relatives of wanted individuals or dissidents as a means
of pressure, and this practice has a long history in Sistan
and Baluchestan province and has consistently raised concern
among human rights organizations. Iran’s regime repeatedly
uses pressure on the families and children of political
activists and opponents as a tool of repression. This method
has intensified in recent years and is employed to force
detainees into cooperation or televised forced confessions.}

Malala and Narges

{The Re-arrest of Narges Mohammadi Is Political Retaliation and
an Attempt to Silence the Voice of Justice.
Pakistani activist Malala Yousfzai affirmed that the re-arrest
of women’s right activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges
Mohammadi constitues a violation of human right values
News Center — The arrest of activist Narges Mohammadi has
sparked a wide wave of international reactions, as human rights
organizations described it as a blatant violation of freedom of
expression and the defense of human dignity. Activists have also
expressed solidarity with her. Last week, the body of lawyer
Khosrow Ali Kordi, aged 46, was found in his office. His family
stated that Iranian security forces confiscated surveillance
camera recordings showing activists who attended his memorial
ceremony, including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi.
Pakistani women’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai stated that
Narges Mohammadi has the courage to demand the release of
political prisoners, emphasizing that her only “crime” was
defending the rights of citizens and women and standing up for
human dignity. She called for Mohammadi’s immediate release.
Yousafzai said that the re-arrest of Narges Mohammadi is not an
application of the law, but rather political retaliation for
speaking the truth and a clear attempt to silence the voice of
justice, adding: “Her imprisonment is a disgrace to human
rights.” She urged the international community and human rights
organizations to break their silence regarding this flagrant
violation of freedom of expression and personal security. Narges
Mohammadi, a 52-year-old human rights activist and Nobel Peace
Prize laureate, has spent more than 10 years in prison over the
past two decades. She has been detained in Evin Prison since
November 2021 and was sentenced to an additional year in prison
in June of last year. She also underwent surgery to remove a
bone tumor in her thigh and was released under conditional terms
for three weeks, in addition to being permanently banned from
travel.} Source: https://jinhaagency.com/en/actual/the-re-arrest-of-narges-mohammadi-is-political-retaliation-and-an-attempt-to-silence-the-voice-of-justice-38185
