{In Support of Her Cause… An Italian City Grants Honorary
Citizenship to Risha Moradi
Italy’s Buggibonsi City Council voted to grant honorary
citizenship to women’s rights activist Risha Moradi, sentenced
to death, as a significant gesture of solidarity with her case
and support for her fight for freedom and human rights.
News Center — Risha Moradi dedicated her efforts to supporting
women’s issues, defending their rights, and advocating for them.
However, she was arrested, imprisoned, and sentenced to death,
turning her case into a symbol of international solidarity with
victims of oppression and discrimination. On Monday, December 1,
an official ceremony was held in Buggibonsi, Italy, where
honorary citizenship was granted to women’s rights activist and
political prisoner Risha Moradi. She was represented at the
ceremony by Shiva Mahbubi, spokesperson for the “Freedom for
Risha Moradi” campaign, who received the citizenship on her
behalf. The campaign expressed its appreciation to Mayor Susanna
Cini of Buggibonsi for this initiative, which was seen as a
symbolic step supporting Risha Moradi’s cause and human rights
in Iran. The campaign also thanked organizations such as Women
for Freedom – Florence and the Association of Free Iranian Women
– Florence, which played key roles in achieving this citizenship
through their ongoing support and efforts. Mayor Susanna Cini
posted on her social media account “X” (formerly Twitter):
"I write now with great emotion: the Buggibonsi city council
unanimously approved granting honorary citizenship to Risha
Moradi, a women’s rights activist and Kurdish political prisoner
supporting women affected by the ISIS war in Syria."
Risha Moradi was arrested in August 2023, tortured, and faces
the risk of execution. Mayor Cini thanked the council members
for their support and the associations that proposed and
endorsed the initiative, noting efforts to inform Moradi of the
decision and monitor her situation. Risha Moradi, a Kurdish
political prisoner sentenced to death, suffers from several
medical conditions, including a cervical disc tear and spinal
canal stenosis, and continues to be denied medical services. She
was arrested by the intelligence ministry forces at the entrance
of Sanandaj, transferred after 13 days of detention to Ward 209
in Evin Prison, Tehran, where she was pressured and tortured to
force a confession. After five months in solitary confinement,
she was moved to the women’s ward of Evin Prison. A hearing
regarding the charges against Risha Moradi was held at Branch 15
of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by
Judge Abu al-Qasim Solavati. Her lawyer was informed of the
death sentence, and her lawyers appealed, referring the case to

intelligence agents. Meysam Beyg Mohammadi was detained at night
at his home in Abbas Abad, a city in northern Mazandaran
province, by agents from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
Intelligence Organization. He was alone at the time of his
arrest. Beyg Mohammadi is currently being held in solitary
confinement at Sari prison, according to reports. No official
has publicly commented on or confirmed the reason for his
detention. The artist has previous convictions in Iran’s
judicial system. In 2009, a judge sentenced him to one year in
prison for his activities. He served the full sentence at Evin
prison in Tehran. Last year, Beyg Mohammadi was sentenced to
three months in prison on charges of “insulting the Supreme
Leader of the Islamic Republic through a social media post.” The
judiciary agreed to convert that sentence to electronic
monitoring with an ankle bracelet. Iranian authorities routinely

Air Pollution
Iranfocus - Dec 3, 2025 - By Sia Rajabi
{357 Dead From Air Pollution In Tehran In One Week
With the continued inability of Iran’s regime to control
pollution sources, air pollution has kept many Iranian cities in
a state of crisis.
Mohammad-Esmaeil Tavakoli, the head of Tehran’s emergency
services, told the state-run ISNA news agency on November 30:
“Of the 57,000 calls over the past eight days, 31% were related
to respiratory and cardiac problems caused by air pollution.
This means every three minutes one person has called 115 because
of Tehran’s toxic air. In November, 22% of the 93,000 emergency
missions were for the same reason. Iran’s regime still avoids
closing schools and factories because it will not halt the
production of even dirtier petrochemical gasoline. In the past
eight days, 357 people have lost their lives due to
complications from air pollution.” A shortage of four hundred
emergency bases and five hundred ambulances
Tavakoli stated plainly: “Tehran is short four hundred emergency
bases and five hundred ambulances. When one ambulance is
stationed in Vanak Square, seven million people fall out of the
service radius. Iran’s regime has not had the money to purchase
ambulances for years, but it doubles the budget for building
intercontinental ballistic missiles every year.” On Monday,
December 1, Tehran’s air quality was again in the red zone for
the tenth consecutive day, and two-thirds of government offices
in the capital were rendered inactive. According to reports,
from March 21 to November 25, Tehran experienced six clean days,
123 acceptable days, 106 unhealthy days for sensitive groups, 16
unhealthy days, two very unhealthy days, and two hazardous days.
Sadegh Hassanvand, head of the Air Pollution Research Center at
the University of Tehran, told the state-run outlet Eghtesad120
that the power plants in Alborz and Qazvin provinces use fuels
that have deadly effects on public health. He added: “The sulfur
standard for power-plant fuel is fifty, but the power plants
around Tehran burn horrifying fuels with sulfur levels of thirty
thousand, which are extremely harmful to public health.” Despite
the persistence of this crisis, officials of Iran’s regime have
still not introduced or implemented any effective or lasting
solutions to reduce air pollution in the capital or other major
cities, continuing instead to rely on temporary closures and
short-term decisions. At the same time, the director-general of
crisis management in Hormozgan Province announced that on
Wednesday, December 3, government offices were closed due to
rising cases of influenza. In Kurdistan Province, the spread of
influenza also led to the closure of schools and universities on
December 3.} Source: https://iranfocus.com/iran/56203-357-dead-from-air-pollution-in-tehran-in-one-week/

{Iranian Blogger Ordered to Prison on Charges of ‘Pro-Israel
Propaganda’
An Iranian blogger has been ordered to report to prison to serve
a three-and-a-half-year sentence for propaganda against the
state, she said in social media posts. Donya Hosseini said she
was summoned on November 30 to the judicial enforcement branch
to begin serving the sentence. She received a travel ban notice
on December 1. Hosseini was convicted of “propaganda against the
system in the direction of strengthening the Zionist regime.”
Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge
Iman Afshari, issued the verdict. Branch 36 upheld it on appeal
without any changes, Hosseini said. She said her case was
referred directly to the Revolutionary Court without a police
report, and her defenses were ignored. Hosseini, 35, is
originally from Khuzestan province and lives in Tehran. She was
active on Instagram under the name Donya Azad. She was
previously held at Evin prison for about four months before
being released in 2023. Security forces arrested her on August
12, 2023, and confiscated electronic devices and handwritten
notes. Hosseini said she has faced three cases over the past
three years. The first, in 2022, ended without prosecution. The
second, in 2023, resulted in a five-year suspended sentence and
a fine. A hijab-related case in 2023 also ended without
prosecution. She said the prison sentence will disrupt her plans
to open a café after a year of preparation. Hosseini was among

{Iran Executes Man Convicted of Wife's Murder in Public
A man convicted of murdering his wife was publicly hanged on
Tuesday morning in Semnan province, the provincial judiciary
chief announced. Mohammad Sadegh Akbari, head of the Semnan
provincial judiciary, said the man was convicted of the
premeditated murder of his wife. The case began in 2020 when a
medical center reported her death, prompting police and
prosecutors in Semnan to launch an investigation. Akbari said
the convicted man had staged the death scene to make it appear
natural or the result of a non-criminal accident in an attempt
to mislead investigators. “This effort failed through scientific
investigation, precise scene reconstruction, and multi-layered
analysis of documents,” Akbari said. Branch 1 of the Semnan
Provincial Criminal Court found the man guilty and sentenced him
to death. Iran’s Supreme Court upheld the verdict after review.

{The controversy over mandatory hijab continues, and women are
resisting
The streets of Tehran and the major cities reveal a new social
reality that refuses to submit, affirming that women’s will is
stronger than the punitive measures the conservative parliament
is trying to revive.
News Center — The debate in Iran over the mandatory hijab law,
imposed since 1979, continues. More than half of the members of
parliament have criticized the judiciary, accusing it of being
“lenient” in enforcing the law. But behind these accusations, it
becomes clear that the issue is no longer merely a legal
discussion, but a daily battle fought by women in defense of
their right to choice and personal freedom. Since the 2022
protests following the death of the young woman Jina Amini while
in custody for an “improper hijab,” the hijab issue has
transformed into a symbol of women’s resistance against the
oppression imposed on their bodies and lives. The demand made by
155 MPs on Tuesday, December 2, calling on the head of the
judiciary to tighten punishments, reflects the political
establishment’s insistence on denying a new social reality in
which increasing numbers of women refuse to submit to a law that
restricts their basic freedoms. Meanwhile, the conservative
parliament seeks to revive tools of repression by imposing
harsher penalties, exposing the deep divide between the
authorities and the public. The recent punitive measures—such as
shutting down cafés and restaurants under the pretext of not
enforcing the hijab or serving prohibited drinks—reveal that the
authorities are using economic and social pressure to control
society. Yet they are failing to stop the wave of change led by
women. The issue is no longer simply about “observing the
hijab,” but an open struggle between a state seeking to control
women’s bodies and women demanding their right to freedom and
dignity. The parliament’s insistence on harsher punishments
reflects a fear of losing control, while the streets of Tehran
and other major cities clearly show that women have chosen the
path of freedom—and they will not turn back.} Source:

complementary penalties
Iran’s judiciary has sentenced political prisoner Sajjad Fathi,
held in Evin Prison, to five years in prison and additional
social penalties for filming the destruction of his own home
during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran. According to
information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights,
Fathi, 39, married and the father of one child, has recently
been sentenced by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court,
presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati. He received a
five-year prison sentence on the charge of “propaganda against
the Islamic Republic in favour of Israel through filming
restricted areas”. The political prisoner was also handed two
years of travel ban, a two-year prohibition on social-media
activity and political-party membership, and his mobile phone
was confiscated in favour of the state. The sentence has been
upheld by the Court of Appeal. According to informed sources,
the court cited a report by the IRGC’s Sarallah Headquarters in

Fathi. This is despite the fact that the individual had only
filmed his own residence, which had been destroyed during the
war between Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Fathi was

No to Execution Tuesdays
Iranfocus - Dec 2, 2025 - By Sia Rajabi
{97th Week of Iran’s ‘No To Execution Tuesdays’ Campaign in
Fifty-Five Prisons
The ninety-seventh week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays”
campaign is continuing in fifty-five prisons across the country
with prisoners on hunger strike. This week, marked by a sharp
rise in executions, has been one of the bloodiest periods of
2025, with nearly 100 prisoners executed in a ten-day span.
Political prisoners in Iran’s prisons, referring to the
approaching Iran’s Student Day (December 7), emphasized that
repression, imprisonment, and executions have not been able to
stop students from pursuing the struggle for freedom. They
stressed that once again, universities have become targets of
authoritarian attacks, and this time the political prisoner
Ehsan Faridi, a twenty-three-year-old student, is facing a
potential death sentence on charges of advocating freedom,
placing his life in grave danger.
The full text of this statement is provided below:
Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign in the
ninety-seventh week across fifty-five prisons
We begin the ninety-seventh week of the “No to Execution
Tuesdays” campaign on the eve of December 7, Student Day. Since
December 7, 1953, universities have remained the beating heart
and the vanguard of the struggle against dictatorship. On this
day, we honor the memory of all those who lost their lives for
freedom, especially students who became victims of enforced
disappearance, including Saeed Zeinali, who disappeared
following the 1999 attack on the Tehran University dormitory and
has never been seen again. This is one example among hundreds of
students and citizens who have been victimized by authoritarian
rulers — an immense injustice inflicted upon their families and
grieving mothers. Yet repression, imprisonment, and executions
have not managed to stop students from their pursuit of freedom.
And now, once again during these days, universities have come
under attack by authoritarian forces, with political prisoner
Ehsan Faridi, a twenty-three-year-old student, facing a
potential death sentence on charges of advocating freedom,
placing his life at serious risk. In the past week, we witnessed
an expanding wave of executions, with nearly 100 prisoners
executed in the past ten days, including two women. One
execution was even carried out in public to spread fear among
the population. With this, the number of executions since March
21, 2025, has reached 1,564 — an unprecedented figure in the
past three decades, triggering global outrage against the
regime’s criminal use of the death penalty. Now, with this
sweeping wave of executions, it is expected that the political
community, student activists, and all awakened consciences will
join in supporting prisoners sentenced to death and stand with
the families seeking justice. They must raise the voice of “No
to Executions” in every possible way so that the regime’s main
tool of repression is taken away from the ruling clerical
authority, clearing the path toward freedom and the people’s
right to self-determination.

Deliberate poisoning of girls
Iranwire - Dec 2, 2025
{Iranian Student Activist Released After 20 Months in Prison
Iranian student activist Zia Nabavi was released from Evin
Prison on Monday after serving one year and eight months, his
lawyer said. Amir Raisian confirmed to Shargh newspaper that
Nabavi completed his sentence and was freed. Nabavi was
transferred to Evin in April to serve a one-year sentence
related to protesting the serial poisoning of schoolgirls. A
second one-year sentence for protesting the downing of a
Ukrainian passenger plane was carried out simultaneously,
Raisian said. A directive issued in September reduced sentences
by four months. With that reduction applied, Nabavi was released
after 20 months in prison. While behind bars, Nabavi took the
doctoral entrance examination and ranked second nationally. He
was admitted to Tarbiat Modares University's political sociology
program for the current academic year. Nabavi and his family
requested leave so he could attend classes beginning in late
September. Authorities denied the request, Raisian said. The
lawyer said he had attempted to overturn the rulings four times
through different branches of Iran's Supreme Court. All efforts
were rejected.a Nabavi previously served eight years and eight
months in prison on charges linked to the Council for the
Defense of the Right to Education. He had been sentenced to 10
years in 2009 but was released in 2017 after a retrial reduced
his sentence by five years. As many as 13,000 pupils reportedly
suffered symptoms including nausea, fainting, headaches,
coughing, breathing difficulties, and heart palpitations, with
many requiring hospital treatment in late 2022 and early 2023.

Jafar Panahi
Iranwire - Dec 2, 2025
{Iranian Filmmaker Jafar Panahi Sentenced to Prison While Abroad
Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi has been sentenced to one year in
prison by an Islamic Revolutionary Court, his lawyer announced.
The trial was held in his absence while he was abroad. Mostafa
Nili, Panahi's lawyer, said Branch 26 of Tehran's Islamic
Revolutionary Court has also banned the 65-year-old filmmaker
from leaving Iran for two years and prohibited him from joining
political or social groups. "We will take the necessary legal
steps to appeal this verdict within the legal timeframe," Nili
wrote on X. The sentence comes months after Panahi's film won
the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. "It was just an
accident" was made without official permits and features female
actors without the mandatory hijab. Panahi was arrested in 2022
and held in Tehran's Evin Prison for nearly seven months. He was
temporarily released on bail after a hunger strike. The
filmmaker has faced government restrictions for years, including
previous travel bans. In the days leading up to the Cannes
festival, Iranian security forces reportedly increased pressure

Arrest of Prominent Actors
Iranwire - Dec 1, 2025
{Iranian Authorities Arrest Prominent Actors at Birthday Party
Iranian authorities arrested 21 people, including several
prominent actors, during a raid on a birthday party, state media
reported. The party was held at the home of actor Ali Shadman.
Those arrested included actors Parsa Pirouzfar, Setareh Pesyani,
Sahar Dolatshahi, Mehran Modiri and Ahmad Sa’atchi. All
detainees except Shadman and Pesyani have been released on bail.
Pirouzfar became ill during the raid and was hospitalized,
sources said. Fars News Agency described the arrests as an
intelligence “operation.” Six people face charges of “damaging
public chastity,” “promoting prostitution,” “drinking alcohol”
and “possessing alcoholic beverages,” according to reports.
Separate cases were opened at the Ershad prosecutor’s office for
other detainees, mostly cinema and theater actors. Shadman
dedicated a jury prize at the Negah Festival in September to
imprisoned theater actor Hossein Mohammadi, who was arrested
during the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom protests. Some social media
users described the raid as retaliation for that gesture, saying
Shadman has faced security pressure since. Alcohol consumption
and production are banned under Iranian law.} Source: https://iranwire.com/en/news/146690-iranian-authorities-arrest-prominent-actors-at-birthday-party/

{Iranian Comedian, 7 Crew Members Arrested Over Internet Show
Iranian authorities arrested stand-up comedian Ali Sabouri and
seven crew members of his internet show over content officials
deemed “immoral,” the judiciary announced on Saturday. The
judiciary’s media center said the show “Nesf-e-Shab” (Midnight)
was targeted for “content contrary to social norms.” Sabouri and
several crew members were detained and referred to an
investigator. The show, which featured live studio audiences and
direct interaction with viewers, was broadcast for several
episodes before Sabouri’s arrest. The judiciary said the program
was stopped for what it called “creating content for
visibility.” Some crew members were released on bail after
charges were filed, but several remain in detention, the
judiciary said. It provided no details about specific charges.
Sabouri is a stand-up comedian who has performed in Iran’s
entertainment scene. The arrest marks the latest case of

Parastoo Jamalzaei
Iranwire - Dec 1, 2025
{Iranian Woman Faces Security Charges for Social Media Activity
A 32-year-old Iranian woman faces criminal and security charges
over her social media posts and participation in protest
movements. Parastoo Jamalzaei of central Arak was charged with
spreading lies, “propaganda against the system,” and producing
and distributing content authorities deemed “obscene through
computer and telecommunications systems.” A criminal court in
Arak convicted Jamalzaei on charges of “spreading lies and
publishing indecent images” and imposed a fine in a verdict
issued last week. The ruling is currently suspended. Jamalzaei
also faces separate charges of “propaganda against the system”
in the Arak Revolutionary Court. That trial was held on November
29, and a verdict is pending. Sources told IranWire that
Jamalzaei has been a civil activist in Arak for years, posting
critical content about government policies on social media.
Intelligence Ministry agents now control her Instagram account,
which has more than 20,000 followers. Part of the charges relate
to personal photos she posted on the account. Despite previous
summons and threats, Jamalzaei received no formal court notice
until after military confrontations between Iran and Israel in
June. She is currently free on bail pending sentencing. Iranian
authorities arrested or filed security charges against numerous
citizens following the June war, particularly those with prior
summons histories.} Source: https://iranwire.com/en/women/146681-iranian-woman-faces-security-charges-for-social-media-activity/

Red Signs Sweep London
Quds News - Dec 1, 2025
{Red Signs Sweep London in Campaign to Free Palestinian Hostages
Red signs and ribbons spread across London as activists launch a
new campaign demanding freedom for thousands of Palestinian
hostages held in Israeli jails.
London (QNN)- Bold red signs have taken over the streets of
Westminster in central London. The new symbolic campaign, titled
“Free Palestinian Hostages,” aims to highlight the ongoing
suffering of thousands of Palestinian hostages and detainees
held by Israel. Organizers say the campaign reminds the world
that around 9,100 Palestinian hostages remain inside Israeli
jails. The figures include 3,544 administrative detainees, 400
children, 53 women, 16 doctors, and 300 prisoners serving life
sentences. The campaign features red ribbons and information
boards placed in central locations across London. It also
includes short videos that tell the stories of histages and
detainees. Supporters plan to spread these videos across media
outlets and social platforms to build global momentum. The
initiative focuses first on Palestinian hostages who are
doctors, women, and children. Organizers say their stories offer
a human and shocking picture of life inside Israeli detention.
Campaign coordinators chose the color red as the unified visual
symbol. They describe it as a global sign that reflects
Palestinian blood and the pain of hostages. They argue that
other colors once used in human rights movements have lost their
impact. Red, one of the colors of the Palestinian flag, now
represents both suffering and resilience. Organizers hope the
color will grow into a worldwide symbol for the Palestinian
detainees’ cause. They believe it can help unite solidarity
efforts in different countries, similar to how other colors
became international markers for major humanitarian struggles in
recent history. The campaign does not belong to any specific
group. It remains open for anyone who wants to join or
volunteer, both inside and outside the United Kingdom. At its
final stage, the organizers want the issue of Palestinian
detainees to evolve into a global movement that crosses borders
and politics. They aim to refocus attention on the thousands of
families waiting for their loved ones behind bars.} Source: https://qudsnen.co/post?id=66812&slug=red-signs-sweep-london-in-campaign-to-free-palestinian-hostages
