Preface: the murdering of Jina Amini in september '21 by the basij for
apparently wearing her hijab wrongfully led to the women-led revolution
'Zan, Zendegi, Azadi (in English Woman, Life, Freedom' against the
mullahs' regime. A revolution which, despite the immense crackdown by
the iranian forces and the hundreds of dissent people being killed,
blinded, tortured and jailed, to this very day the revolution has not
been silenced and in all force continues under the motto "Give in or go
Away".
This special wants to highlight 3 very, in my opinion, important
'spokeswomen' who very much stand out for their bravery if not heroism
as they relentlessly, and knowing they are risking limb and life, keep
fighting against the regime and this because they know they're not
alone.
In other words: its a Sisters 4 Each other, Sisters 4 All struggle which
for sure will lead to the downfall of the regime.

Narges Mohammadi
Jinha - Womens News Agency - March 16, 2025
<<Narges Mohammadi urges UN to give special attention to Iran’s
violations
Nobel Laureate Narges Mohammadi has sent an open letter to UN bodies,
urging them to give special attention to “the Islamic Republic’s use of
execution, assassination, murder, and enforced disappearance of its
opponents through agents.”
News Center- Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian human rights activist and
Nobel laureate, has sent an open letter to UN bodies on executions,
assassinations, and disappearances of opponents in Iran over the past 46
years. In the letter, Narges Mohammadi recalled that a court in the
United States recently convicted two individuals on all charges,
including murder-for-hire, illegal possession of firearms, and
conspiracy to launder money, in connection with a plot to assassinate
Masih Alinejad, an Iranian-American journalist and political activist.
“Documenting these assassinations and attempts to kill dissidents is
essential for a peaceful democratic transition and for ending 46 years
of theocratic and misogynistic religious tyranny.”
She also urged UN bodies to “give special attention to the Islamic
Republic’s use of execution, assassination, murder, and enforced
disappearance of its opponents through agents.”>>

Golrokh Iraee
Iranwire - April 17, 2025
<<Political Prisoner Warns About Rise in Executions
Political prisoner Golrokh Iraee has warned about the increase in
execution sentences from Evin Prison, particularly highlighting the case
of Hamid Hoseinnejad. In a letter, Iraee addressed Hoseinnejad's
imminent execution and society’s silence regarding ongoing death
sentences. “We have become numb to execution orders. We look on. A sigh,
a regret. Sometimes eyes fill with tears - but we easily make excuses to
calm our conscience,” she wrote. Iraee criticized “the inaction of
execution opponents behind their safe phones” and stated, “To end the
cycle of systematic killing, which is one of the pillars of the Islamic
Republic, we must line up outside prisons and shout ‘no to execution’
face-to-face with the dictator.” She condemned society’s indifference to
recent executions, including the execution of 21 Baluch citizens in a
single week. “We prove that even if their dawns begin with thousands of
gallows, we will not stand in their way,” Iraee wrote. She added, “We,
the awakened consciences of the virtual space who boast in our poems and
slogans, have become numb to the regime’s killings.” Iran executed at
least 169 people in January and February, according to Mai Sato, the UN
Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran. During her first
presentation to the UN Human Rights Council, Sato warned that if the
current pace continues, Iran could carry out more than 1,000 executions
this year. “I am very concerned about the rapid rise in the number of
executions, especially in just the last two months,” Sato told IranWire
in an exclusive interview following her presentation. “I believe,
looking at last year’s patterns, January and February are usually quiet
months, but we’ve already identified at least 169 executions,” she
added.>>

NRCI - April 12, 2025 - In Documents
<<Iranian Women’s Struggle: A Global Call for Solidarity
In a powerful statement of unity, 651 prominent women leaders, including
former heads of state, ministers, jurists, and human rights defenders
from over 80 countries, have expressed their unwavering support for
Iranian women’s struggle for freedom, democracy, and human rights. This
statement, presented to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the
National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), during a major event on
International Women’s Day 2025, calls for global action against the
Iranian regime’s oppressive “Chastity and Hijab” law. The world is
rallying behind the courageous Iranian women who, for decades, have led
the fight against dictatorship, injustice, and gender-based repression.
Their slogan—“No to compulsory veil, no to compulsory religion, and no
to compulsory government”—resonates louder than ever.
Below is the full text of this historic statement and the names of its
signatories.
Call to Action: Solidarity with the Brave Women of Iran
No to compulsory veil, No to compulsory religion, and No to compulsory
government
Join the global movement to stand with Iranian women and girls against
the repressive “Chastity and Hijab” law.[1] This law is not only an
assault on women’s fundamental freedoms but also enforces a police-state
apparatus across society. It constitutes a blatant violation of
international human rights standards aimed at crushing dissent and
silencing those who fight for equality and justice. The condemnation of
the Iranian regime’s misogynistic policies and systematic oppression of
women is a demand shared by women’s rights advocates, human rights
organizations, and freedom-loving individuals worldwide. This law has
been described as “criminal, inhumane, and anti-Islamic” by Mrs. Maryam
Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of
Iran (NCRI). She emphasizes the Iranian Resistance’s longstanding slogan
and demand: “No to compulsory veil, No to compulsory religion, and No to
compulsory government.” She highlights that women have been at the
forefront of the struggle for democracy, human rights, and justice, with
thousands executed over the past four decades in the fight against the
religious dictatorship. Nearly a thousand women in Ashraf 3, members of
the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), have become symbols
of freedom-seeking Iranian women. Mrs. Rajavi urges all freedom-loving
people worldwide to stand in solidarity with Iranian women under the
banner of “Woman, Resistance, Freedom.”
We call on women’s rights advocates, human rights organizations, and
freedom-loving individuals worldwide to amplify their voices and
pressure international institutions to demand the abolition of this
inhumane law and hold the regime accountable for its human rights
violations.

The sanctity of life
Medyanews - April 10, 2025
The sanctity of life is under pressure
Fréderike Geerdink condemns the rising global use of the death penalty,
particularly in Iran, where Kurds face disproportionate executions. She
argues against state-sanctioned killings, emphasizing that life is
sacred and should not be subjected to repressive regimes.
Fréderike Geerdink
We need to speak out against the death penalty more. The number of
countries still using this barbaric punishment is at an all-time low,
but the number of executions is actually rising. And my bet is that this
is the start of a global trend. After all, the death penalty is a handy
tool in the hands of fascists, a particular kind of leader that is
rapidly gaining global momentum. The latest horror story about the death
penalty comes from Iran, and it’s about a Kurdish man. Both are not
coincidences. Iran is again the country that has carried out the most
death penalties worldwide in 2024, Amnesty concluded in a report.
Minorities, among whom Kurds, are disproportionally affected. The story
revolves around a man named Hamid Huseynnejad Heyderanlu. He is from
Rojhilat (Kurdistan in Iran), but his mother’s family is originally from
Bakur (in Turkey), the province of Van, bordering Iran. He was sentenced
to death for a crime – it’s unknown which crime – that was committed
while he was visiting his family in Bakur. His mother has given details
in a video message. There are phone records that prove where he was, and
there is a stamp in his passport saying he left the country for a trip
before the date of the crime.
Children
Initially, the family didn’t make the case public. But now they are
desperate. Hamid, who is married and has three children, has been in
prison for two years now, of which one year in full isolation. He was
forced to confess to the crime under heavy torture. Hamid’s mother calls
on human rights organisations and the general public to stand with her,
and demand her son’s release. Hopefully, publicity helps and Hamid’s
life will be saved. Hopefully, this will also work for three Kurdish
women on death row. They are Warisheh Moradi, Pakhshan Azizi and
Sharifeh Mohammedi. They are political prisoners and sentenced for the
crime of standing up for humanity. There has been quite a lot of public
attention for their cases already, including from Amnesty International
and Human Rights Watch. So far, the regime doesn’t blink an eye, but
hope hasn’t been lost yet. Authors Abbas Alizadeh and Soran Mansournia
have phrased it well here on Medya News: “Defending their lives is not
just about individual justice; it is a stand for the fundamental belief
that peaceful activism and the pursuit of human rights should never be
punishable.”
Sympathy
But I want to speak out too for those who have committed a crime. Hengaw
often has news about Kurds and other minorities, like Baloch citizens,
being hanged for crimes like murder or drugs trafficking. These people
usually attract far less sympathy from the public. They knew the
punishment for what they did, so they brought it on themselves, right?
Probably, they knew, but that’s the thing with the death penalty:
research has shown again and again that the death penalty doesn’t help
bring crime down. If it has any effect on crime rates, it works the
other way around: the more violent the state, the more violent the
citizens. But such statistics are, eventually, irrelevant. Because the
state should not have the right to take anybody’s life. Life is sacred,
and the right to life is unconditional. The latter means that whatever
you do, even taking somebody’s life, it does mean you lose your right to
life. In short, the death penalty should be abolished everywhere for
every crime. It’s merely a tool of repressive regimes to keep the
citizens under control and to intimidate them. Which is why I am
worried. For many years, the trend has been that one country after the
other abolished the death penalty. With authoritarianism on the rise, it
could very well be that the trend will be reversed. Or that the number
of crimes you can get the death penalty for, goes up.
Kurds
The signs are there. The most worrying sign is the blatant disrespect
for human life. It’s easy to point at Iran or China (the latter doesn’t
publish numbers about executions so it might be much higher than Iran),
or name the US as one of the few western nations that still carry out
the death penalty, but Europe isn’t much better. For example my country,
the Netherlands, has long since abolished the death penalty, but it is
supporting the genocide in Gaza and doesn’t hold Turkey to account for
its ongoing repression, including murder, of Kurds. Turkey has abolished
the death penalty but it doesn’t shy away from extrajudicial murders in
Rojava (Kurdistan in Syria) and Başur (in Iraq). As always, I plea for
looking at the larger picture. The right to life and the sanctity of
life are under pressure. In Iran, the lives of Hamid Huseynnejad
Heyderanlu, Warisheh Moradi, Pakhshan Azizi and Sharifeh Mohammedi are
at stake. I deeply hope their lives will be saved. But if that happens,
please don’t stop worrying about life.
