Sarina Saedi
NCRI - Womens committee - 27 Oct 2024 - in The Fallen for Freedom
<<Sarina Saedi
A Bright, Hopeful Girl who Dreamed of Freedom
Sarina Saedi was born on October 11, 2007, in Sanandaj, a city in Iran's
western Kurdish region. During the 2022 nationwide uprising in Iran,
Sarina Saedi joined protests on October 26 in her hometown's Naysar
neighborhood. During the demonstrations, Iranian security forces struck
her repeatedly on the head with batons, inflicting severe trauma that
led to brain hemorrhaging. She was hospitalized immediately but
tragically passed away the next day, October 27, 2022, in Sanandaj's
Towhid Hospital. Sarina's funeral was conducted under heavy security,
with only a few family members permitted to attend. Though doctors at
the hospital had informed Sarina's family that her injuries resulted
from baton strikes, authorities forced her father to appear on state
television that night, declaring her death a suicide. This coerced
statement was the only condition under which her family was allowed to
receive her body for burial.>>

The Tragic Killing of a Young Girl for Tearing a Photo
Parmis Hamnava, a 14-year-old student in the third grade of middle
school at Parvin Etesami School in Iranshahr, a city in southeastern
Iran, was an innocent young girl whose life was tragically cut short by
the Iranian regime. On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, security forces
stormed Parmis’s school, searching through each student’s books. Parmis
had torn out a picture of Khomeini, the mullah's former supreme leader,
from her textbook and discarded it-a small, symbolic act. But for this
<offense,> she was brutally beaten in front of her classmates. The
assault was so severe that she began bleeding from her nose and was then
taken to Iranshahr Hospital. The following day, on Wednesday, October
26, 2022, Parmis passed away. Her body was taken to Zahedan, the capital
of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, for burial. After her death,
security forces threatened Parmis's family, teachers, and classmates,
demanding that no one speak of her case. Under this condition, her body
was eventually released to her family. They even collected all photos of
Parmis from the school to erase traces of her presence and story.
Parmis Hamnava with her horse
Six days later, on November 1, 2022, local state television attempted to
deny Parmis’s death. To mislead the public, they aired an interview with
a different student, a girl named Parmis Bameri, claiming she was the
real Parmis Hamnava, alive and well. This was an attempt to frame the
news of Parmis’s death as <anti-regime propaganda.> However, the
deception was poorly crafted-Parmis Hamnava had attended the afternoon
session, while Parmis Bameri was a morning student. Parmis's untimely
death is one among many tragedies during the protests in Iran, where
young lives are claimed by a regime intolerant of even the smallest
defiance. She was a young girl who, like so many others, wanted to live
in a society that respected her desire for freedom, but her life was
stolen simply for an act of innocence and courage.>>

Mona Naghib

<<Mona Naghib
The Innocent Child Whose Life Was Taken in the Struggle for Freedom
Mona Naghib, an 8-year-old girl from Saravan, a city in the southeastern
province of Sistan and Baluchestan, was one of the innocent victims of
the nationwide protests in 2022. This tragic event unfolded in Aspich, a
district near Saravan, where Mona was fatally shot. Her death occurred
on either October 23 or 24, 2022. On that day, Mona Naghib and her older
sister, Maryam, were on their way to school. It is reported that agents
from Saravan’s Intelligence Department, in pursuit of two young Baloch
men, opened fire, and Mona Naghib was caught in the crossfire. Maryam,
Mona's sister, recalls the devastating moment: "Suddenly, I felt Mona's
hand slip from mine, and she fell. I asked her why she had fallen, and
she said, 'They shot me...' I carried her on my back for part of the way
but got tired. I put her down for a moment, then carried her again. A
man came, and I asked if he had a phone, but he didn't. I asked another
person, and he did. I called my father and said, 'Come quickly. They
shot my sister.'"
Mona Naghib
According to news reports, following the incident, Saravan's
Intelligence agents summoned Mona's father, Morad, and threatened him to
remain silent.>>

Arnika Qaem Maghami
NCRI - Womens committee - 24 Oct 2024 - in The Fallen for Freedom
<<Arnika Qaem Maghami
Daring to raise her voice for freedom
Arnika Qaem Maghami was born on December 11, 2005.
This 17-year-old girl was tragically killed during the nationwide
protests that swept Iran in 2022. While protesting for freedom, she was
brutally attacked by the security forces of the Iranian regime. Arnika
was repeatedly struck on the head and face with batons. She slipped into
a coma and spent 10 days in a military hospital in Tehran, where she
eventually succumbed to her injuries on October 22, 2022, due to brain
damage. Despite the clear circumstances of her death, Arnika's father
was coerced by security agents to publicly claim that his daughter had
died after falling from the fourth floor of their home. This false
narrative was designed to cover up the regime's violent actions.
Several leaked documents provide more insight into the tragic death of
Arnika Qaem Maghami:
Arnika was admitted to the Golestan Army Hospital, where her condition
was falsely attributed to drug poisoning. This conflicts with her
father's statement that she had never taken any medication. Arnika was
admitted to the hospital on October 15, 2022, which contradicts her
father's later account of events. None of Arnika's injuries - such as
swelling, fractures, or bruises - were consistent with a fall from a
four-story building.
A photograph shows Arnika making a victory sign with her friends at
school, disproving her father's claim that she hadn’t participated in
protests.
A CT scan of her brain and expert medical analysis found no evidence of
the skull fractures typical of a fall from over 20 feet. Instead, the
swelling at the back of her head indicated trauma caused by a hard
object. The blunt force trauma to the left side of Arnika's head caused
extensive damage to her brain, resulting in severe hemorrhaging. These
revelations show that the stories of pre-existing conditions, suicide,
or falling from a height were all fabricated to cover up the real cause
of her death. Arnika Qaem Maghami, a bright and hopeful young woman, had
her life violently taken from her for daring to raise her voice for
freedom.>>

Sadaf Movahedi
NCRI - Womens committee - 17 Oct 2024 - in The Fallen for Freedom
<<Sadaf Movahedi
A spirit that did not back down, despite the risks
Sadaf Movahedi was born on December 28, 2003. She was the only child in
her family and lived in west Tehran. Sadaf attended 22 Bahman High
School in the Jannat Abad neighborhood of Tehran, a district in the
western part of the capital. She initially studied graphic design but
later switched to humanities. She was passing her final year of high
school. During the nationwide protests of 2022, Sadaf Movahedi played an
active role in leading her schoolmates in demonstrations. The protests
were part of a broader uprising against the Iranian regime, sparked by
the death of Mahsa Amini, and were especially powerful among young women
and students. On Monday, October 17, 2022, after school ended, Sadaf was
on her way home when security forces attacked her in an alley. She was
beaten with batons, suffering severe head injuries that caused fatal
brain trauma.
Due to pressure and threats from the security forces, Sadaf Movahedi's
family was forced to publicly state that her death was caused by a
<heart attack.>
Two days later, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, she was laid to rest in
Behesht Zahra Cemetery, Tehran's largest burial ground.
The tragedy of Sadaf Movahedi's death is a heartbreaking reminder of the
price Iranian women are paying for their pursuit of freedom. Her
courage, leadership, and dedication to her fellow students reflect a
spirit that would not back down, despite the risks.>>

Marzieh Doshman Ziari
NCRI - Womens committee - 17 Oct 2024 - in The Fallen for Freedom
<<Marzieh Doshman Ziari
A Promising Young Woman Killed for Her Dream of Freedom
Marzieh Doshman Ziari, born on February 14, 2001, in Deylam,
southwestern Iran, was a dedicated and bright student of Business
Management at the Pardis Sadra branch of Azad University in Shiraz, a
prominent city in southern Iran. Known for her dedication, Marzieh was
an exemplary student driven by her ambition to become a successful
businesswoman one day. Following the tragic death of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini
at the hands of the regime's morality police-a death that sparked a
nationwide uprising in 2022-Marzieh Doshman Ziari took a resolute stand.
She actively participated in protests across Shiraz, joining countless
others across Iran in their call for justice and freedom. Marzieh's
commitment was firm; she yearned for a better, freer Iran. Reportedly,
on October 15, 2022, just days before her death, Marzieh discussed with
a friend the idea of distributing a statement at her university. This
final conversation was a testament to her courage and determination.
Tragically, on October 17, 2022, Marzieh was struck down while attending
a protest in Shiraz, sustaining repeated baton blows to her head at the
hands of security forces. Her life, filled with promise and potential,
was abruptly taken from her. After the death of Marzieh Doshman Ziari,
officials attempted to erase the truth. Her body was seized by
authorities who, instead of allowing her family a peaceful farewell,
called Marzieh's father and coerced the family into signing a document
that claimed her death was the result of a car accident. Authorities
also threatened the students in Marzieh's dormitory, warning them to
stay silent about her passing.
On the early morning of October 19, 2022, Marzieh Doshman Ziari was
quietly laid to rest, surrounded by secrecy and sorrow.
In commemorating Marzieh's life, we remember her as a symbol of Iran's
youth-brave, ambitious, and unrelenting in their pursuit of freedom. Her
life, so full of potential, was taken because she dared to dream of a
future free from repression. Her memory lives on as a testament to the
spirit of resistance and the high cost of yearning for justice in
Iran.>>
