Women's Transnational Democratic Platform
Jinha - Womens News Agency - Oct 23, 2024
<<Social media campaign to support Warisha Moradi
The Women's Transnational Democratic Platform has launched a social
media campaign calling on everyone to publish videos on social media
platforms to demand the release of Warisha Moradi.
News Center- The Women's Transnational Democratic Platform has launched
a social media campaign demanding the release of Warisha Moradi, who has
been on a hunger strike in Evin prison since October 10, 2024 to protest
the death penalty in Iran. The platform calls on all activists, human
rights organizations and women all around the world to publish videos on
social media platforms, demanding the release of Warisha Moradi. Many
activists and women all around the world have published videos of
themselves on social media platforms, demanding the release of Warisha
Moradi.
"We know that Warisha is a successor of Shirin Alam Holi and Zeynab
Jalalian and will never surrender," Rozma, a member of the Revolutionary
Association of the Women of Afghanistan, said in a video on social
media. A video published by a human rights activist says, "Your eyes are
full of the passion of resistance and the light of life, you are the
meaning of resistance." "The voice for freedom cannot be silenced," said
another woman, demanding the release of Warisha Moradi. "Warisha Moradi
is a fighter who has turned prison into a center for the struggle
against the Islamic Republic," said another activist in her video
message. Warisha Moradi, a women's rights defender and member of the
East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR), was arrested and taken to an
unknown location by the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
(IRGC) in Sanandaj on August 1, 2023. After a four-month interrogation
period, she was transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran. She faces charges
of <armed rebellion against the state>. She started a hunger strike on
the World Day against the Death Penalty, annually observed on October
10, to protest the death penalty in Iran.>>

Pakhshan Azizi, Varisheh Moradi, Narges Mohammadi, Mahboubeh Rezai, and
Parivash Moslemi
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - 22 Sept 2024
<<Evin, Tehran, Iran: Five Female Political Prisoners Sentenced to 27
Months of Imprisonment
Pakhshan Azizi, Varisheh Moradi, Narges Mohammadi, Mahboubeh Rezai, and
Parivash Moslemi, five political prisoners held in Evin Prison, have
been sentenced to an additional total of 27 months and one day of
imprisonment in connection with a case opened due to the women's ward
protest against the execution of Reza Rasaei. According to a report
received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Pakhshan Azizi,
Varisheh Moradi, Narges Mohammadi, Mahboubeh Rezai, and Parivash Moslemi
were recently sentenced to 27 months and one day of imprisonment by the
Branch 2 Criminal Court of Quds Judicial Complex in Tehran, presided
over by Judge Abolfazl Amiri Shahrabi. The case charged them with
<assaulting an officer and defiance.> The verdict was communicated to
them on Saturday, October 18, 2024. As per the ruling, Pakhshan Azizi, a
political prisoner sentenced to death, and Varisheh Moradi, a political
prisoner accused of rebellion, were each sentenced to six months in
prison, while Narges Mohammadi and Mahboubeh Rezai were also sentenced
to six months each, and Parivash Moslemi received three months and one
day. In total, the five women were sentenced to 27 months and one day of
imprisonment. According to informed sources, Parivash Moslemi was
acquitted of the charge of <disrupting prison order,> and the other
prisoners were acquitted of <property damage.> Parivash Moslemi was
present in court, while the other prisoners refused to attend the
session. It is worth noting that this case was opened on August 6
following a protest by several female prisoners in Evin against the
execution of Reza Rasaei's death sentence, who had been arrested during
the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, which led to a confrontation with
the prison guards. As a result, these prisoners were temporarily
stripped of their right to make phone calls and meet with their families
by the prison's disciplinary committee.>>

Four Sunni prisoners
Iranwire - Oct 25, 2024
<<Iran's Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentences for Four Sunni Prisoners
The Supreme Court of Iran has confirmed death sentences for four Sunni
prisoners currently incarcerated at Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj. Eido
Shahbakhsh, Abdolghani Shahbakhsh, Abdolrahim Ghanbarzehi Gorgij, and
Soleiman Shahbakhsh were sentenced to death by Tehran's Revolutionary
Court on February 4 for alleged armed rebellion and membership in
opposition groups. The case dates back to 2012 and has been marred by
procedural irregularities, including multiple transfers between courts
in Zahedan and Tehran. Despite being initially acquitted by the Zahedan
Revolutionary Court, the defendants were rearrested in 2016 after
objections from security agencies. According to the HRANA human rights
news agency, at least one defendant, Abdolrahim Ghanbarzehi, was coerced
into making confessions while detained at the IRGC's Salman Detention
Center in Zahedan. The death sentences have now been referred to Branch
1 of the Tehran Security Prosecutor's Office for execution. Family
members of the prisoners maintain their innocence and assert that the
judicial process has violated both Iranian constitutional law and
international human rights conventions. According to Amnesty
International, in 2023 alone, the Islamic Republic's judiciary executed
853 people, marking the highest number of executions in the country in
the last eight years. Of those executed, 481 were convicted of
drug-related crimes, representing an 89 percent increase compared to
2022, when 255 people were executed. The latest figures also show a
staggering 264 percent increase>>

Leaders of Iran's Green Movement
Iranwire - Oct 24, 2024
<<Leaders of Iran's Green Movement Reach 5,000 Days Under House Arrest
The house arrest of Iranian Green Movement leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi,
Zahra Rahnavard and Mehdi Karroubi has now reached 5,000 days. In a
joint Instagram post, Mousavi’s daughters, Zahra and Narges, emphasized
that their parents, along with fellow opposition figure Karroubi, "have
remained faithful to their pledge to the people and have not compromised
on the people’s rights" throughout their prolonged confinement. "The
house arrest of Zahra Rahnavard, Mehdi Karroubi, and Mir Hossein Mousavi
has reached 5,000 days," they wrote. "This absolute injustice,
illegality, and complete isolation from society have truly been hard,"
they added. They highlighted the ongoing surveillance and security
controls around the residence, where Zahra Rahnavard and Mir Hossein
Mousavi are held under house arrest. They described the residence as "a
security prison out of public oversight, with the doors remaining locked
by the jailers." The sisters expressed hope for the release of all
prisoners in Iran, adding: "May the doors of all prisons one day open,
and no freedom-loving patriot remain imprisoned." Zahra Rahnavard, Mir
Hossein Mousavi, and Mehdi Karroubi have been under house arrest since
2009, following protests against the presidential election results and
public demonstrations. The detention was ordered by the Islamic

Saman Yasin
Iranwire - Oct 24, 2024
<<Iranian Protest Singer Saman Yasin Released on Medical Furlough
Iranian protest singer Saman Yasin has been released on medical
furlough, his lawyer announced on Wednesday. Yasin's lawyer, Ramin
Safarnia, confirmed on social media that his client was granted
temporary release from Ghezelhesar Prison on bail. "Today, my client,
Saman Yasin, after enduring around 26 months in prison, was released on
medical leave following the recommendation of a medical commission and
with the judiciary's approval, after posting bail of 4 billion tomans
[$59,000]," Safarnia said. Legal expert Ali Mojtahedzadeh suggested that
Yasin's temporary release could lead to permanent freedom, noting that
his case falls under the 2022 amnesty order by Supreme Leader Ali
Khamenei. Yasin, a vocal critic of Iran's clerical establishment, was
arrested on October 2, 2022, and reportedly tortured during his
detention. He was sentenced to death on October 29 for <waging war
against God.> However, the Supreme Court later overturned the sentence.
In a letter earlier this year, Yasin highlighted his ongoing struggles
with mental and physical health issues, stating, "I continue to suffer,
yet incompetent officials cannot even facilitate my access to medical
care. Please inform me of the crime I have committed. If I am found
guilty, then imprison me; if not, then acquit me," he wrote.>>

Suzan Eid Mohammadzadegan and Niousha Badi'i Sabt
Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - Oct 24, 2024
<<Two baha'i women sentenced to imprisonment
Two Baha'i women, Suzan Eid Mohammadzadegan and Niousha Badi'i Sabt,
have been sentenced to a total of ten years in prison by the Islamic
Republic of Iran judiciary. According to a report received by the Hengaw
Organization for Human Rights, Niousha Badi'i Sabt, a 39-year-old
translator, and Suzan Eid Mohammadzadegan were each sentenced to five
years in prison by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Babol. The
court convicted them of <engaging in educational and promotional
activities contrary to Islamic principles.> Additionally, both women
have been prohibited from participating in any educational or training
activities for 18 months as part of their supplementary punishment. In
September 2023, the judiciary in Mazandaran Province announced the
closure of two schools and several educational and sports centers in
Babol, alleging that the Baha'i faith was being promoted at these
locations. Despite the accusations, the institutions involved were
preschools, and the accused have denied any religious indoctrination.

NCRI - Womens committee - 23 Oct 2024 - in Women's News
<<Protest by Families of Death Row Inmates in the 39th Week of the "No
to Executions Tuesdays" Campaign
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, families of death row inmates gathered in
front of the mullahs' Parliament in Tehran to protest during the 39th
week of the "No to Executions Tuesdays" campaign. Chanting "Stop the
executions," they voiced their opposition to the death sentences and the
imminent execution of their children. It is noteworthy that similar
protests were held in Tehran and Karaj in October and November 2023, but
security forces violently suppressed them. This protest marks another
step in expanding the "No to Executions" campaign beyond the prison
walls.
Expansion of the Campaign of "No to Executions Tuesdays" to 23 Prisons
On October 22, 2024, the 39th week of the "No to Executions Tuesdays"
continued in 23 prisons nationwide. Inmates in Ahvaz's Sheiban Prison
issued a statement announcing their participation in the campaign. The
statement of the 39th Week of the campaign highlighted the alarming rise
in executions, with more than 140 individuals, including 5 women, hanged
from September 22 until October 21. The campaign condemned these
systematic executions and called on political activists, civil and human
rights organizations, and conscientious people worldwide to stand
against this oppression. This week, members of the campaign went on
hunger strike in 23 prisons, including the women's wards of Evin and
Lakan prisons, as well as female political prisoners in the Central
Prison of Tabriz and other jails.>>
