<<Narges Mohammadi Faces Potential Cancer Diagnosis
Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Narges Mohammadi
may have cancer while incarcerated in Iran's Evin Prison, according to
her lawyer. Mostafa Nili, Mohammadi's lawyer, reported that recent
medical tests revealed a potentially cancerous bone lesion in her lower
right leg. The discovery came after extensive advocacy efforts finally
secured her a hospital visit last week for a medical examination. "The
MRI results indicate that this lesion may be cancerous," Nili said,
adding that an urgent surgical biopsy is needed to determine whether the
lesion is malignant.
Mohammadi, awarded the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless work
defending women's rights and human rights in Iran, has spent more than a
decade in prison. Her imprisonment, which has included 135 days in
solitary confinement, is based on charges of <propaganda against the
Islamic Republic.> >>

News Center- Iranian authorities have allowed imprisoned Nobel Peace
Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi to be hospitalized after almost nine
weeks of feeling sick, the free Narges Coalition, a campaign group for
Narges Mohammadi, announced on Sunday. The campaign group called on
Iranian authorities to grant Narges Mohammadi a medical furlough to
receive comprehensive treatment for multiple conditions, saying, "Just
transferring her to the hospital will not address the severe health
issues caused by months of neglect and deprivation." In February 2022,
Narges Mohammadi was transferred to the hospital and underwent an
angiography. Since the main artery of her heart had 75% blockage, a
stent was placed in that artery.
Narges Mohammadi has been also suffering from acute back and knee pain,
including a herniated spinal disc.>>
