<<'We must turn the 21st century into a century of Jin,Jiyan, Azadi'
The Third World War has been taking place in the Middle East, said Rukiye Muhammed, member of the Zenubiya Women's Community, stressing that women are no longer "victims of war" but lead revolutions.
Manbij- The violent conflicts in the Middle East have intensified, turning into the Third World War. Although women and children are the most affected by these conflicts, they are completely ignored by the media. Women struggle to overcome challenges faced by them amid conflicts, said Rukiye Muhammed, coordinating members of the Zenubiya Women's Community. "Women play an active role in ending conflicts and building peace."
Call on women to unite
"Women living in the Middle Eastern countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, North and East Syria, and Iran have experienced the same things," Rukiye Muhammed said. "If women unite, they can build global peace. Despite all kinds of oppression, restrictions, women always rise like a phoenix from the ashes. For instance, women in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan started the "Jin,Jiyan, Azadi" revolution following the killing of Jina Amini."
Recalling the genocide committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community in Shengal (Sinjar), Rukiye Muhammed said, "Yazidi women were abducted, raped and sold in slave markets. But today, Yazidi women have participated in all facets of life, including politics and military. They have their own defense force and protect their people from a new genocide."
'Women are no longer victims of war'
Women in North and East Syria were subjected to the atrocity of ISIS, Ruken Muhammed said, "Many women were killed and stoned by ISIS. But today, these women participate in politics and the military to serve their people. These women are no longer victims of war, they fight to protect their people and build peace."
'The aim is to change the demographic structure'
Speaking about the ongoing Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, Ruken Muhammed criticized the international silence against the attacks. "The aim of these attacks is to change the demographic structure of the region. The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East kill and displace women and children. Women struggle to survive in silence."
Women's participation in peace processes
Rukiye Muhammed calls on women to participate in peace processes because "this is not a situation that men can solve. If women participate in peace processes, peace will become permanent. As women, we should break the patriarchy and bring peace and security to the Middle East. We must turn the 21st century into a century of Jin,Jiyan, Azadi." >>

<<Women executed in Idlib under false accusations and pretexts
Women are arrested and killed under false accusations and pretexts in the city of Idlib controlled by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
Idlib- Women living in Idlib, controlled by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed Hay'at al-Sham (HTS) face more oppression. Being treated as second-class citizens, women are subjected to rights violations every day. The situation of the women held in prison under false accusations and pretexts is worse. The women held in prison are subjected to torture, unfair trials and death sentences.
Her sister executed by HTS
The sister of Suad Al-Gharib (38) was accused of adultery and executed by the HTS. "Although my sister was innocent, she was forcibly arrested under false accusations because she refused to marry one of the members of HTS," Suad Al-Gharib told NuJINHA. Her sister was executed after a week in prison. "She did not have a lawyer to defend her. My family could not do anything in fear."
'My daughter was executed in a week'
The daughter of Rawaa Nassif (45) was arrested and executed by the HTS on charges of <collaborating with foreign organizations>. "My sister was a kind-hearted person. I do not understand how she was accused of something like this. My daughter was arrested by the members of the HTS without any explanation. We received no information from her for a week. Then, we were told that she had been executed. She was executed in a week."
Rawaa Nassif was not allowed to see her daughter for the last time and hold a funeral ceremony for her.
According to human rights activists, some of the charges against women by the HTS are <enmity against God,> or <insulting Islamic sanctities>, <cooperating with the Syrian government> or <cooperating with foreign powers> and <adultery>. "What is going on in Idlib is the exploitation of religious authority to impose absolute control over society," said human rights activist Rula Haj Ahmed. "The members of the HTS do not believe in the principles of justice, and what they do is to terrorize the entire society. They produce false accusations against women to control the entire society." >>

Female Awareness Ambassadors carry out activities such as seminars and meetings especially during election processes to advance women's political participation. "Female ambassadors in Sabha received a series of training. They know everything about election processes," said Zainab Misbah Al-Ahirsh, an employee of the Women's Support Unit in the city of Sabha. "The ambassadors in Sabha played an important role in promoting women's political participation at previous elections. We hope that they will play a more effective role in the upcoming elections." Speaking about the activities of the ambassadors, she said, "Despite all the challenges, they play an important role in raising awareness among women by distributing leaflets and holding awareness-raising seminars. Two of the 'Liberators of Shengal'
Jinha - Womens News Agency - Nov. 14, 2024 - by CILAN ROJ
<<Liberation of Shengal: 'I ran barefoot to my house with happiness'
Shengal (Sinjar) was liberated from ISIS on November 13, 2015. "I ran barefoot to my house with happiness," said one of the witnesses of the liberation of Shengal.
Shengal (Sinjar)- On August 4, 2014, ISIS started its genocidal attacks on Shengal. Shengal was liberated by freedom fighters on November 13, 2015, thanks to a great resistance. Following the liberation of Shengal from ISIS, many Yazidis returned to their homeland and rebuilt their lives with the paradigm of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan. On June 10, 2014, ISIS attacked Mosul and took control of the city in one day without facing any response. After occupying Mosul, ISIS headed to Shengal on August 3, 2014. Before ISIS started its genocidal attacks on Shengal, 12,000 KDP and Iraqi soldiers had left Shengal, leaving the Yazidis alone. Due to the betrayal of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), ISIS killed thousands of Yazidis, abducted thousands of women and children and sold Yazidi women in slave markets. The fighters of the HPG, YJA-STAR, YPJ and YPG went to Shengal and rescued thousands of Yazidis from genocide by opening a humanitarian corridor between Rojava and Shengal.
Yazidis formed their own defense forces
Yazidis formed their own militias- the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) and the Shengal Women's Units (YJŞ)- to liberate their hometown. The freedom fighters cleared Shengal of ISIS step by step. On November 13, 2015, the liberation of Shengal from ISIS was announced.
'We did not think we could see Shengal again'
NuJINHA spoke to women, who witnessed the liberation of Shengal. "We did not think we could see Shengal again," said Qimet Xwededa. "However, Shengal was liberated from ISIS thanks to the guerrillas. The guerrillas did everything to liberate Shengal. Many fighters were killed while fighting ISIS in Shengal."
'I ran barefoot to my house with happiness'
The number of freedom fighters in Shengal was few, Qimet Xwededa said. "The fighters and our children fought and liberated Shengal together. When I heard that Shengal was completely liberated from ISIS, I ran barefoot to my house in Xanesor with happiness."
'Yazidis must unite against the enemy'
Although 10 years have passed since the liberation of Shengal, dirty plans of Shengal continue, Qimet Xwededa told NuJINHA. "Yazidis in camps have not yet returned because of the dirty plans of the enemy. Yazidis must unite against the enemy."
'We felt happy and sad at the same time'
Pakiz Celal, member of the Council of Martyrs' Families in Shengal, was in the village of Gohbal when she heard the liberation of Shengal. "We felt happy and sad at the same time because many of our people were killed while fighting ISIS. After the liberation of Shengal, we went there; we found the bones of people killed by ISIS." Pointing to the situation of women after the genocide," she said, "Yazidi women have educated themselves with the thoughts and philosophy of leader Apo. There is no difference between men and women." Pakiz Celal thinks that the genocide against the Yazidi community has not ended yet. "The Barzani family sold us on the day of the genocide and now they attack us by cooperating with the enemy." >>

Afghan women express their solidarity
Jinha - Womens News Agency - Nov. 13, 2024 - BAHARIN LEHIB
<<Afghan women express their solidarity with Warisha Moradi
Afghan women call on the Iranian authorities to dismiss the death sentences for Warisha Moradi and Pakhshan Azizi, saying, "Condemning the death sentences is insufficient. A joint struggle is a must."
Kabul- The Iranian government keeps using the death penalty against women demanding freedom. On November 10, Warisha Moradi, a women's rights defender and member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR) who was arrested by Iranian security forces on August 1, 2023, was sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Tehran Islamic Revolutionary Court on charges of <armed rebellion> against the Iranian regime. Expressing their solidarity with the women in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan, Afghan women say "a joint struggle against the oppression of religious ideologies is a must."
'We suffer from the same oppression'
"The Iranian regime has sentenced Warisha Moradi and Pakhshan Azizi for defending women's rights," said Mina Askari, a children's rights activist in Afghanistan. "The aim is to silence the voices of those fighting for freedom. Women in Afghanistan and Iran suffer from the same oppression. We express our solidarity with Warisha Moradi, Pakhshan Azizi and all women political prisoners in Iran. We demand immediate release of all political prisoners. In Iran, women are targeted because they play an important role in uprisings," said Yalda Ahmed, an Afghan psychologist and women's rights activist. "The resistance and courage of Iranian women has become a role model for women fighting for freedom all around the world." >>

<<Yarsan community celebrate Khavandan amid marginalisation in Iran
The Yarsan community gathers to celebrate Khavandan, also known as Xawandkar or Xawenkar, a major festival of traditional music and vibrant cultural practices. Bringing Yarsanis together to honour their heritage, Khavandan highlights the deep cultural roots and unity of the community.
The ethno-religious Yarsan community, primarily based in western Iran and eastern Iraq, has gathered to celebrate Khavandan (also known as Xawandkar or Xawenkar), an annual festival held from late October to mid-November. This significant religious ceremony unites Yarsanis, predominantly Kurds, from the provinces of Kermanshah (Kirmansah), Lorestan, and Ilam in Iranian Kurdistan, as well as from Kirkuk (Kerkuk) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Khavandan, also known as the Festival of Friends, serves as both a spiritual and communal event where followers honour Khavandagar (comparable to the concept of God) and Sultan Sahak, a Kurdish mystic considered an incarnation of Khavandagar. According to Sar Anjam, the Yarsani Holy Book, the festival commemorates the release of Sultan Sahak and his companions from prison, marking a turning point in Yarsan history and a time of renewed devotion and unity. The Yarsan faith, also known as Ahl-e Haqq (People of Truth), is one of the oldest in the Middle East, with an estimated three million followers in Iran, mainly in the western, predominantly Kurdish provinces. A further 120,000 to 150,000 Yarsanis, commonly known as Kaka'i, live in Iraq. Identifying primarily with the Kurdish ethnicity, the Yarsan have preserved their distinctive cultural and spiritual practices over the centuries, with music deeply woven into their identity. Both women and men play central roles in these traditions, often performing with the tanbour and daf - sacred instruments - in Yarsan rituals. During Khavandan, the resonant sounds of the tanbour and the rhythmic beats of the daf fill the air with hymns that tell the stories of their faith, celebrating their heritage in music that is at once mournful and uplifting. The Yarsan community has long faced marginalisation due to their unique religious beliefs and culture. In Iran, where the government does not officially recognise the Yarsan religion, many Yarsanis have been prevented from openly practising their faith, making them vulnerable to discrimination. Yet the Yarsan community perseveres, holding on to their music, rituals and festivals as powerful expressions of their identity and heritage. For the Yarsan, the Khavandan festival is not only a spiritual celebration, but also an affirmation of cultural pride and resilience. The vibrant, traditional dress of Yarsan women and men, combined with the sounds of the tanbour and daf, highlight a culture that, though often suppressed, thrives in its vitality and endurance.>>

<<Amedspor releases new anthem symbolising Kurdish resilience amid supportive fan chants
Amedspor, the well-known football club of the Kurdish-majority city of Diyarbakır (Amed) in Turkey, has released a powerful new anthem, declaring itself "the hope and resistance of a people". At recent games, fans have chanted in solidarity with Kurdish towns faced with their elected mayors being replaced by government-appointed administrators or <trustees>, underlining Amedspor's role as more than a sports team and solidifiyng its position as a symbol of Kurdish identity and resilience. Amedspor, a prominent Kurdish-majority football club based in Diyarbakır (Amed) in Turkey, recently released a video introducing a new anthem that has gone viral on social media. The song, which is more than just a club chant, reflects the deeper identity and values associated with Amedspor: "You are not just a football club, you are the hope and resistance of a people." This statement captures the enduring symbolism of Amedspor within Turkey's Kurdish community, where the club is seen as an emblem of resilience and cultural pride. During a recent match against Keçiorengucu, Amedspor fans voiced their support for the ongoing resistance against the government's appointment of administrators, or <trustees> in place of elected mayors in Kurdish-majority communities. Cities in Turkey are recognised by all by their vehicle registration codes. The code for Şanlıurfa (Riha), where Halfeti (Xelfetî) is located, is 63, and that of Batman (Elih) is 72. In the 63rd minute, the fans chanted "Xelfeti" and in the 72nd minute they chanted, "Everywhere is Batman, everywhere is resistance", in a powerful statement of their support of the communities of these two places, where the elected mayors have been deposed and replaced, reflecting solidarity with other Kurdish cities and protest against Turkey's trustee policy. Amedspor, formally known as Amed Sportif Faaliyetler, is a focal point of both pride and controversy. Known for its cultural and political significance in the Kurdish majority regions of Turkey, the club represents more than sport - it symbolises Kurdish identity, resilience and the struggle against political repression. The club's name change to 'Amed', the Kurdish name for Diyarbakır, in 2015 was a pivotal moment that further cemented the club as a cultural icon, but also led to increased nationalist and racist backlash, sometimes culminating in violent incidents on and off the pitch. The football club's commitment to its Kurdish roots has sometimes put it at odds with national authorities. Expressions of Kurdish identity at Amedspor's games, including political statements, have often led to sanctions from the Turkish Football Federation. Both players and fans have faced discriminatory treatment, ranging from hostile environments in away matches to racial abuse from opposing fans and disproportionate disciplinary measures. Despite these challenges, Amedspor continues to foster unity and advocate for equality, using its platform in Turkish football to emphasise Kurdish cultural pride and resilience. After a triumphant season, Amedspor secured a place in Turkey's First League in April 2024, marking a significant achievement for the club. As the team continues to face challenges, its supporters remain steadfast, rallying behind the anthem's message of hope and perseverance.>>

<<'Turkish attacks aim to revive ISIS'
The Turkish attacks on North and East Syria aim to "revive ISIS", said Asya Gharbi, member of the Syrian Women’s Council. "If ISIS is revived, it will pose a threat to the whole world."
Raqqa- The Turkish state has intensified its attacks on North and East Syria while the international silence against the attacks continues.
'Turkish attacks aim to revive ISIS'
"The ongoing Turkish attacks on North and East Syria aim to sabotage the stability and to revive ISIS," said Asya Gharbi, member of the Syrian Women's Council. "Since the establishment of the system based on democracy in North and East Syria, the Turkish state has been attacking the region to destroy our system. The Turkish attacks target critical civilian infrastructure, including power and oil plants and water facilities."
'The security of the whole world is at stake'
Noting that the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) aims to end the Syrian crisis and to ensure the unity of Syria, Asya Gharbi said, "The policies pursued by ISIS against the people and women when it controlled the region are the same as the policies pursued by the Turkish state today. What has been going on shows that the Turkish state financially supports ISIS. The increase in the attacks on North and East Syria aim to revive ISIS. The security of the whole world is at stake." Calling on the international community to break its silence, Asya Gharbi said, "Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the international community has remained silent against the Turkish attacks, giving green light to the Turkish occupation. The Turkish occupation poses a threat not only to North and East Syria, but also to the whole world. We call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by putting pressure on the Turkish state to stop its occupation in North and East Syria.">>

Narin Guran
Medyanews - Nov. 11, 2024
<<Turkey: Four defendants remain in custody at start of Narin Guran murder trial
The first hearing in the murder trial of eight-year-old Narin Guran has concluded with four defendants remaining in custody amid contradictory testimonies and unanswered questions. Contradictory testimonies and evasive answers marked the first hearing of the Narin Güran murder trial at Diyarbakır (Amed) High Criminal Court, as four defendants face potential life sentences for the murder of the eight-year-old. The court confirmed on Saturday the continued remand in custody of mother Yuksel Guran, brother Enes Guran, uncle Salim Guran and neighbour Nevzat Bahtiyar at the end of the three-day hearing. The case involves 22 defendants in total, with prosecutors seeking life imprisonment for four of them. Narin Guran was murdered on 21 August in the village of Tavşantepe (Çuli), Diyarbakır. During the hearing, defendants repeatedly responded with <I don't know> or <I don't remember> to crucial questions about the circumstances of her death. The case has drawn nationwide attention, with protesters across Turkey demanding transparency in the investigation. Allegations of evidence tampering by state officials have fuelled concerns about the integrity of the case. The family's connection to the Free Cause Party (HUDA-PAR) has introduced political dimensions to the investigation and raised questions about potential motives behind the murder.>>

<<Human rights groups demand release of severely ill prisoners in Turkey
Rights activists in İstanbul and Ankara have staged protests calling for the release of two critically ill prisoners with disability ratings over 80%, who remain in jail despite medical advice, raising further concerns about health care in prisons. Human rights defenders in Turkey are demanding the immediate release of two severely ill political prisoners who require constant medical care, one of whom is barely able to walk, the other unable to recognise family members. Dede Anıl, a 98% disabled political prisoner held in Marmara No 1 L-Type Prison, was the focus of the 659th 'F Sit-in' protest (named for F-type prisons, now called L-type) outside the office of the Human Rights Association (İHD) in Beyoglu, İstanbul, while activists in Ankara drew attention to the condition of Melek Akgun in Kayseri Women's Prison in their 531st weekly demonstration. Anıl suffers from heart failure, COPD and fibromyalgia, along with partial paralysis and severe brain damage, according to former political prisoner Nevzat Açan. Anıl's former wife said after visiting him, "He's like a half-dead person. He doesn't remember our 20-year marriage and cries like a child constantly." Ignoring an 82% disability report issued by a state hospital for Anıl on 24 January, Turkey's Forensic Medicine Institute ruled on 22 July that he was fit to remain in detention. Akgun (58), who was arrested on 6 February 2024, likewise received an 82% disability rating, due to multiple conditions including heart disease, COPD and chronic kidney failure. In an interview with Mezopotamya Agency on Sunday, the İHD's Hakkari (Colemerg) Branch Co-Chair Sibel Çapraz highlighted that the Prison Administration and Observation Board has blocked the release of 8,521 prisoners, including those with severe illnesses. "The Board makes completely arbitrary decisions, preventing the release of prisoners who have completed their sentences, using fabricated pretexts to justify the decisions. The decisions made by the board are not fair. The Prison Administration and Observation Board must be closed immediately," she said. "According to İHD data, there are 1,517 ill prisoners, of whom 651 are in a critical condition," said Nuray Çevirmen, İHD Central Executive Board member. "The state is responsible for protecting the right to life both under domestic law and under international conventions that Turkey has signed.">>

<<Women in Elih welcome November 25 fighting against usurpation of their will
Women of Elih welcome November 25, fighting against the usurpation of their will. "We will take to the streets the appointed trustees targeting women."
Elih (Batman)- Women in Kurdistan and Turkiye have already kicked off their activities and events to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25. Inspired by the Mirabal sisters' resistance, the women will take to the streets to protest all forms of gender-based violence. The protests that sparked in Elih (Batman) following the removal of elected co-mayors from office on November 4, continues while the women of Elih welcome November 25, fighting against the usurpation of their will. "Our city was governed by appointed trustees for eight years," said Çigdem Bilen, a city council member. "For eight years, no activities were organized for women. What the appointed trustees did in eight years was to close down women's organizations and to destroy women's gains." The People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) won Kurdish municipalities in the local elections held on March 31, 2024. However, Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs removed the elected co-mayors of Mardin, Elih (Batman) and Xelfeti (Halfeti), three municipalities run by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), from office and appointed trustees in their place. "As women, we fight against the usurpation of our will, instead of preparing a program for November 25," Çigdem Bilen said.
"We struggle to take our municipality back. The appointment of non-elected trustees to municipalities is also a form of violence against women, usurping women's right to elect and be elected."
'We will resist like the Mirabal sisters'
Women fight against the appointed trustees, said Gulnur Deli, another city council member. "The will of the people has been ignored once again. But everyone should know very well that we will resist like the Mirabal sisters, who resisted fascism and dictatorship. We welcome November 25 by fighting against usurpation of our will. The trustee was appointed to our municipality while we were visiting neighborhoods and inviting people to participate in our activities to eliminate violence against women," said Tuba Demir. "Today, we protest the usurpation of our will and we will protest the usurpation of our will and violence against women on November 25. We will break this patriarchal mindset together. I call on all women to be in solidarity with us." >>
