Demanding ban on FGM
Jinha - Womens News Agency 20 Mar 2024
<<Gambia votes to repeal its ban on FGM
Gambia's parliament voted Monday to repeal its ban on female genital mutilation (FGM).
News Center- Gambia has taken steps towards repealing a 2015 ban on female genital mutilation (FGM), a move that could make it the first country in the world to reverse legal protections against the practice for millions of women and girls. On Monday, Gambia's lawmakers voted 42 to four to send the bill to a committee before returning it to parliament for a third reading. FGM was outlawed in Gambia in 2015 under former president Yahya Jammeh who oversaw the imposition of fines and prison sentences of up to three years for individuals who engaged in the practice. The law also punished perpetrators with life imprisonment in instances where the practice led to death. Before the voting, a number of women and men gathered in front of Parliament to protest the bill while some supported the bill. According to human rights experts, lawyers and women's rights activists, if Gambia repeals its ban on FGM, it will significantly harm many years of efforts to end the practice. >>

Elmas Nayif, Co-mayor of the Siba Sheikh Khidir Municipality, calls on all Yazidis to return to Shengal in order to rebuild their homeland together.
Shengal (Sinjar)- Nine years have passed since ISIS committed a genocide against the Yazidi community in Shengal. The attacks of ISIS on Shengal killed and displaced thousands. In an interview with NuJINHA, Elmas Nayif, Co-mayor of the Siba Sheikh Khidir Municipality, called on all displaced Yazidis to return to Shengal.
'The KDP has carried out a special policy'
Pointing to the difficult living conditions faced by the Yazidis in IDPs camps in the Kurdistan Region, Elmas Nayif said, <The poor living conditions of the camps are unacceptable. Our people are subjected to all kinds of attacks in the camps. The KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) has carried out a special policy in the camps. It tells our people, 'Shengal is not a safe place. It is subjected to airstrikes every day' to prevent our people from returning to Shengal.>
'Our people should return'

Rihan Loqo
Jinha - Womens News Agency 20 Mar 2024 - by RONAHI NUDA
<<Rihan Loqo: We will demand the physical freedom of leader Apo at Newroz celebrations
At the Newroz celebrations to be held in seven places of Jazira Canton of North and East Syria, people will demand the physical freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Qamishlo- 2024 Newroz will be celebrated in North and East Syria with the motto, <Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, solution to the Kurdish question.> NuJINHA spoke to Kongra Star Spokesperson Rihan Loqo about Newroz celebrations in North and East Syria. <We first wish a happy Newroz to leader Apo, architect of freedom. This year, thousands of women from different ethnic groups such as Kurdish, Arab, Turkmen, Circassian, Syrian and Yazidi women, celebrated the International Women's Day on March 8 across North and East Syria with great enthusiasm. They vowed to ensure the physical freedom of leader Apo. At Newroz celebrations, we, as women of North and East Syria, will demand his physical freedom.>
'The conspiracy continues in different forms'
Pointing to the international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, she said, <The conspiracy against him for more than 25 years continues in different forms. He is subjected to disciplinary punishments every six months for different reasons. The isolation imposed on him has been intensified because his Democratic Nation Paradigm, ideology and philosophy based on equality have become a model for the whole world. Today, the democratic system of North and East Syria led by women has been building a free, democratic, equal and ecological society.>
'The more we achieve gains, the more attacks we are subjected to'
Emphasizing that a democratic system is being built in North and East Syria led by women, she said, <The system based on democracy spreads and becomes a model for the whole world. 'The AANES wages a historic struggle'
Speaking about the ongoing Turkish drone attacks targeting civilians, she said, <The attacks target children, women, the civilian infrastructure and the pioneers of the revolution. Due to the attacks, thousands have no electricity and water. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria develops alternatives to provide services to the people. The aim of the enemy is to annihilate the Kurdish people by intensifying the isolation imposed on leader Apo and carrying out genocidal attacks on four parts of Kurdistan. Everyone knows that the aim of the Turkish state is to destroy the Kurdish identity.>
