<<More than 100 people killed in Gaza since ceasefire agreed
Israel's war in Gaza has killed at least 46,788 Palestinians and wounded
110,453 since October 7, 2023.
More than 100 people killed in Gaza since truce deal
At least 103 Palestinians have been killed and more than 264 wounded by
Israeli attacks in Gaza since the announcement of the recent ceasefire
agreement. According to Mahmoud Basal, Gaza’s civil defence service
spokesperson, the latest casualty figures include 31 women and 27
children.
The fatalities came after the Wednesday announcement of a ceasefire
agreement scheduled to take effect on Sunday. Basal confirmed that 82 of
the total casualties were killed in Gaza's northern governorates, while
16 took place in the southern regions, including 14 in Khan Younis and
two in Rafah. The remaining five people were killed in the central
governorate of Gaza. Israel's war in Gaza has killed at least 46,788
Palestinians and wounded 110,453 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,139
people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and
more than 200 were taken captive. The war has left more than 11,000
people missing, with widespread destruction and a humanitarian crisis
that has killed many elderly people and children in one of the worst
global humanitarian disasters ever.>>

<<ICC chief prosecutor says Israel made 'no real effort' to probe Gaza
crimes
Karim Khan's defence of Gaza war crimes allegations against Netanyahu
comes amid delays over ceasefire ratification.
Can the ceasefire agreement lead to lasting peace in Gaza?
The International Criminal Court (ICC) chief prosecutor has defended the
organisation's issuing of arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister
and former defence chief, adding that the country failed to probe war
crimes allegations itself. Karim Khan, speaking in an interview on
Thursday with the Reuters news agency, said the ICC had not seen "any
real effort" by Israel to take "action that would meet the established
jurisprudence", adding that he hoped the situation would change. ICC
judges issued arrest warrants last November for Benjamin Netanyahu and
Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during
Israel's war on Gaza. An Israeli investigation could have led to the
case being handed back to Israeli courts under so-called complementary
principles. Khan said Israel could still demonstrate its willingness to
investigate, even after warrants were issued. This seems unlikely since
Israel has rejected the jurisdiction of the Hague-based ICC, denying war
crimes despite its apparent failure to investigate the claims. The
United States, Israel's main ally, is also not a member of the ICC. Last
week, the US Congress voted to sanction the court in protest against the
warrants, a move Khan described as "unwanted and unwelcome". Khan said
Israel had very good legal expertise, but had not used its judges,
prosecutors and legal instruments "to properly scrutinise the
allegations that we've seen in the occupied Palestinian territories".
'Manipulation and procrastination'
Khan's comments came a day after Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire
deal in Gaza following more than 460 days of war.
Under pressure from hardliners in his government, who say the war has
not achieved its objective of wiping out Hamas, Netanyahu delayed key
meetings of the security cabinet and the cabinet, which were supposed to
vote on the deal on Thursday. On Friday, Netanyahu's office said
approval was imminent, with the security cabinet voting on the ceasefire
accord that day, paving the way for government ministers to give it
their final assent in a full cabinet meeting. However, a report in The
Times of Israel said the second meeting would only be held on Saturday
night, with full ratification coming after a mandatory 24-hour grace
period to raise objections, raising the possibility that the ceasefire
will not come into effect on Sunday as initially planned. Mustafa
Barghouti, the secretary-general of political party the Palestinian
National Initiative, told Al Jazeera that Netanyahu ran out of options
to stop a ceasefire from being implemented. "He manipulated and tried to
postpone it and to procrastinate because his main goal is to keep his
government together. But it is very clear now that he cannot manoeuvre
any more," he said.>>

<<Health worker: Everyone in Gaza must receive first aid training
Yusra Hasballah, a health worker in Gaza, thinks that everyone in Gaza
should know the essential rules of first aid "because first aid saves
lives. Everyone in the city must receive first aid training."
Gaza- At least 10 people are injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza
Strip every hour. Since the health system in the city of Gaza has
already collapsed, medical teams cannot provide health service to the
most of the injured people and this causes civilians to help the injured
people; however, the wrong medical intervention mostly leads to the
deaths of the injured people.
'First aid saves lives'
Many ambulances have been destroyed in the ongoing Israeli bombardment,
said Yusra Hasballah, a health worker and volunteer at the Palestine Red
Crescent Society (PRCS). "There are some undestroyed ambulances but they
are insufficient to reach all injured people. Some parts of the city are
'red zones', making the ambulances impossible to reach the injured
people. Passersby try to help the injured people; however, they do not
know anything about the essential rules of first aid. Everyone in the
city must receive first aid training to prevent deaths." Yusra Hasballah
stressed the importance of first aid courses in the city. "Knowing the
essential rules of first aid is important because people are injured in
the ongoing attacks on the city so that medical intervention can be
practiced without transferring the people suffering from not serious
injuries to a hospital. First aid saves lives. If everyone knows the
rules of first aid, they will know how to stop the bleeding."
'Raising awareness is important to save lives'
Speaking about the consequences of wrong medical interventions, she
said, "They may cause complications that require surgical intervention.
However, the city suffers from the inadequacy of operating rooms. I have
been a health worker for years and I know how raising awareness is
important to save lives. I do my best to tell the displaced people in
shelter centers and schools how first aid is important and the
consequences of wrong medical interventions."
'Everyone in Gaza is at risk of being injured'
People in the Gaza Strip are interested in learning the essential rules
of first aid because, "everyone in Gaza is at risk of being injured at
any moment," Yusra Hasballah said. "Everyone in Gaza must learn the
essential rules of first aid. If they learn these rules, they can help
their family members and neighbors when they are injured." >>

Israeli forces have stepped up attacks on Gaza, bombing a
school-turned-shelter and several homes across the Strip, and killing at
least 24 people since the early hours of this morning. The attacks come
despite mediators saying a ceasefire agreement is closer than ever, with
US President Joe Biden and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al Sisi
issuing a joint call on Israel and Hamas to conclude the deal.>>

<<Israel maintains furious rate of attacks on Gaza amid hopes for
ceasefire
Israeli attacks kill at least 32 Palestinians in Gaza on Tuesday,
raising death toll since October 7, 2023 to 46,645.
Gaza death toll since dawn rises to 32
At least 32 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds of others injured
in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since dawn on Tuesday, the
enclave’s health authorities said, even as ceasefire negotiations
between Israel and Hamas appear to be gaining momentum. Civil defence
spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said the attacks primarily targeted the
cities of Deir el-Balah, Gaza City and Khan Younis. Ten people,
including a one-year-old girl, were killed when the home of the Abed
family in the al-Manara area of Khan Younis was hit by an Israeli
attack, Basal said. The child's parents, grandfather and uncle were also
killed in the attack, he said. In a separate attack, four children were
killed when a home belonging to the Abu al-Shaar family in the Daraj
neighbourhood of Gaza City was struck, Basal said. Another attack hit a
tent filled with displaced Palestinians, killing three people in Deir
el-Balah, he added. Witnesses said an Apache helicopter fired on areas
of Jabalia in northern Gaza, where Israeli forces have been conducting
an intensified offensive since October. The latest attacks occurred as
talks to reach a truce and captive release deal are under way in Qatar.
Israel's war in Gaza has killed at least 46,645 Palestinians and wounded
110,012 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,139 people were killed in
Israel during the Hamas-led-attacks that day and more than 200 were
taken captive.>>
