{No essential supplies in truce: Gaza’s healthcare system broken by
Israel
Israel is not allowing antibiotics, IV solutions or surgical material to
enter besieged Gaza despite the 2-month ceasefire.
After being relentlessly decimated by bombs and starved of medical aid
during Israel’s genocidal war, Gaza’s healthcare system remains on the
brink of collapse despite nearly two months of a ceasefire. Doctors in
the war-ravaged, besieged enclave say they are struggling to save lives
because Israel is not allowing the most essential medical supplies in.
Sweets, mobile phones and even electric bicycles are permitted to enter,
but antibiotics, IV solutions and surgical materials are banned.

“We are facing a situation in which 54 percent of essential medicines
are unavailable, and 40 percent of the drugs for surgeries and emergency
care – the very medications we rely on to treat the wounded – are
missing,” Dr Munir al-Bursh, the director general of Gaza’s Ministry of
Health, told Al Jazeera. The ministry describes the shortages as
unprecedented, stating that Israel is allowing just five trucks carrying
medical supplies into Gaza a week. Three trucks deliver supplies to
international organisations such as the UN and its partners, and just
two to government-run hospitals. That number is a tiny fraction of the
aid Israel is obligated to supply Gaza under the ceasefire agreement –
affecting other areas of Palestinian lives. Israel’s genocidal war on
Gaza continues unabated, with some 600 violations of the ceasefire in
the two months. “At least 600 trucks should be entering the Gaza Strip
every single day, but what is entering is very little,” said Al
Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary, reporting from Gaza City. “Cooking gas is only
at 16 percent of what is needed; there is a shortage of shelters, tents,
tarps and everything Palestinians need to shelter from the rain. We see
Palestinians collecting wood, cartons and anything they can light up a
fire with.” People living with chronic illnesses are bearing the burden
of such restrictions. Naif Musbah, 68, who lives in the Nuseirat refugee
camp, has colon cancer – and the supplies he needs to be treated are not
available. “I need colostomy bases and bags so I can attach them to the
stomach and the device in order to be able to pass stools. They are not
available, nor are the bases, and we end up soiling ourselves. The
situation is extremely difficult. There’s also no gauze, cold packs,
adhesive tape, gloves or disinfectant solution – nothing,” Musbah told
Al Jazeera. With no way to manage his condition, the sick Palestinian
man says he feels as if the war has robbed him of his dignity.
Meanwhile, doctors have been improvising with what little they have
left, while the families of patients search for simple items to make the
lives of their loved ones easier – items, they say, that should not be
this hard to find. During Israel’s genocidal war – which has spanned
more than two years – nearly all of Gaza’s hospitals and healthcare
facilities were attacked, with at least 125 health facilities damaged,
including 34 hospitals. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than
1,700 healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses and paramedics, have
also been killed in Israeli attacks.} Video - Source: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/12/7/no-gauze-no-gloves-israels-severe-restrictions-on-medical-aid-to-gaza

{Qatar’s PM calls for inclusive engagement to achieve elusive regional
peace
Speaking at the Doha Forum, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin
Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani says you cannot resolve a conflict ‘if
you have no one speaking to non-state actors’.
Doha, Qatar – The prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin
Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has called for inclusive engagement,
including with non-state actors such as the Palestinian group Hamas, as
the only viable route to regional peace. Speaking to United States
journalist Tucker Carlson on Sunday at the Doha Forum, Sheikh Mohammed
said you cannot resolve or reach a solution “if you have no one speaking
to non-state actors”. The start of Qatar’s relationship with Hamas goes
back more than 10 years, he said, adding that opening the group’s office
in the country came at the request of the US, aiming to enhance
communications with the armed group. “When they [Hamas] moved their
office back in 2012 here [Qatar], it was used only for communication and
to facilitate ceasefires and aid to Gaza,” Sheikh Mohammed, who is also
the foreign minister, said. Qatar has also hosted the Taliban’s
political office since 2013, during the group’s war with the US and the
former Afghan government. The office was also established at
Washington’s request to create a venue for potential peace negotiations.
Sheikh Mohammed refuted allegations that any money going to Gaza went to
Hamas, insisting it goes to the Palestinian people. “Politicians are
trying to use this for short-term political gains … to fuel their
narratives,” the prime minister stated. “All our aid, financing, and all
our support … went to the people in Gaza, and was a very transparent
process that the United States is very aware of … [and] Israel was the
one facilitating. “This communication has led to ceasefires, has led to
the release of hostages, has led to alleviating the suffering of the
people over there,” he added.
Israeli attack on Qatar ‘unethical’
Discussing Israel’s shocking attack on Qatar in September, Sheikh
Mohammed described it as an “unethical move”. “The concept of mediation
is like having a safe place for conflicted parties to achieve a deal, to
end wars and to end conflicts,” he said. “The mediator being bombed by
one of the parties – this has been unprecedented.” The prime minister
revealed that US President Donald Trump was caught off guard by Israel’s
actions. “President Trump was very clear from the beginning… When he was
informed about the attack, he assigned one of his advisers to reach out
to us immediately. He expressed his frustration, his disappointment,
because he knows everything about the process and how helpful we were
throughout,” he said. “He made it very clear for everyone that this is
like the red line, that he doesn’t want anyone to cross.”
Reconstructing Gaza
On the reconstruction of a devastated Gaza, following Israel’s ongoing
two-year genocidal war, Sheikh Mohammed said Qatar would “continue
supporting the Palestinian people”. “We will do whatever to alleviate
their suffering,” he emphasised. However, he said Qatar “will not write
the cheque for what others destroyed”. “When it comes to the
Russia-Ukraine conflict, we hear that Russia should fund all the
reconstruction, and their assets should be seized to fund all the
reconstruction of Ukraine,” he pointed out. “[But] when you are talking
about Israel … and you say that Israel has the responsibility to rebuild
what is destroyed, they will tell you no. It’s really a very ironic
double standard. “Our position is that our payments will go only to help
the Palestinian people, if we see that the help coming to them is
insufficient,” Sheikh Mohammed added. According to UN estimates, 92
percent of all residential buildings in Gaza have been damaged or
destroyed since Israel’s war on the besieged enclave began on October 7,
2023, producing between 55-60 million tonnes of rubble. It has been
estimated by the UN that it will take decades to rebuild. Moreover, the
prime minister firmly opposed any forced displacement of Palestinians in
Gaza by Israel. “It’s hurting us when we hear people talking about the
people of Gaza as some sort of different people,” he said. “They have
the choice where to go, and they don’t want to leave their country,” he
added. “I don’t see anyone has the right to deport them or to force them
to go somewhere else.”} Video - Source: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/12/7/qatars-pm-calls-for-inclusive-engagement-to-achieve-elusive-peace

{Abu Shabab’s death signals the inevitable failure of Israel’s plan for
Gaza
The Israeli efforts to establish Palestinian rule in Gaza loyal to the
occupation are doomed.
“[The death of Yasser Abu Shabab] marks the end of a dark chapter – one
that did not reflect our tribe’s history and principles …The Tarabin
tribe stands with the Palestinian resistance in all its factions … it
refuses to let our tribe’s name or members be exploited to form militias
that work for the benefit of the occupation.” This is what Gaza’s
Tarabin tribe said in a statement following the killing of its member
Yasser Abu Shabab on December 4. There have been conflicting reports
about how he died and who killed him. Some have said it was Hamas
fighters who shot him, others that members of his own tribe did.
Reportedly, he was taken to an Israeli hospital, where he died of his
wounds. Israel framed the killing as a “tribal dispute” rather than
retribution for his collaboration; this was also the position of the
Popular Forces militia, which Abu Shabab commanded. This narrative, of
course, ignores the fact that his own tribe saw him as a collaborator
and welcomed his death. Throughout the war, Abu Shabab’s name was
synonymous with collaboration with Israel. He was a key partner in Gaza
in securing safe passage for Israeli troops, searching for Israeli
captives, killing Palestinian resistance members, and, most infamously,
looting aid trucks. Before he was killed, Abu Shabab was reportedly
being considered for the position of governor of Rafah to be appointed
by Israel. His death deals a massive blow to Israel’s efforts to
establish a new Palestinian administration in Gaza that responds to its
wishes and oppresses the Palestinians. It is yet another proof that the
Palestinian people will never accept colonial rule. For decades, Israel
has used collaborators to undermine Palestinian unity and governance. In
the early 1980s, it spearheaded the creation of so-called “village
leagues” in the occupied West Bank. These represented institutions of
local rule headed by individuals funded and protected by Israel in
exchange for their loyalty. The aim was to diminish the influence of the
Palestine Liberation Organization and spread disunity. However, the
leagues were rejected by the Palestinians as illegitimate, and the whole
initiative collapsed within a few years.
Now Israel is trying to replicate the same model in Gaza. Funding and
arming Abu Shabab was supposed to create a centre of coercive power in
Gaza, which would have been fully loyal to Israel. It would have allowed
the Israeli occupation to come after the resistance, exterminating its
fighters, without having to get its soldiers involved any more or
bearing the diplomatic cost of doing so. Even if Abu Shabab had not
succeeded in establishing control over Rafah or the whole of Gaza,
sowing internal conflict would have been beneficial enough for Israel.
It would have undermined internal security in Gaza, damaging the
cohesion of the Palestinian society and encouraging people to leave.
But just like in the past, Israel’s plan was doomed to fail.
Although Abu Shabab had significant financial and military support from
the occupation, he could not convince his tribe to follow him or the
people of Rafah to join him. He was only able to recruit takfiri
extremists, criminals and formerly imprisoned collaborators. The vast
majority of Palestinians saw him as a collaborator. Abu Shabab could not
recruit even among those who oppose or dislike the resistance factions
because they too would not sell out their principles and work for the
genocidal power killing Palestinians every day. While Abu Shabab
provided Israel with security and technical services on the ground, his
power was built entirely on crimes and theft, which made him just a
hated traitor, not a leader. Despite bragging in videos about giving
away stolen aid to the poor or building tent camps with looted tents, he
was unable to rally people behind himself. The Israeli plan to make Abu
Shabab into a governor failed because it failed to take into account
that one cannot build legitimate governance on crimes. As much as Israel
tried to protect him, his death was inevitable. His tribe and others in
Rafah could not accept his collaboration with the occupation, which hurt
their honour and longstanding moral ground. When news of Abu Shabab’s
death spread, people in Gaza celebrated, going out into the streets and
distributing sweets. Palestinians who had different perspectives about
Hamas’s actions were united in their joy. Israel’s attempt to put its
hand on Gaza’s future was severed. Abu Shabab’s death, in the end, sent
a powerful message: that any collaborator is a target and no
collaborator can achieve legitimacy. After more than two years of
genocide, the Palestinian people’s spirit has not broken; they have not
given up on their land and on their just cause. The views expressed in
this article are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect Al
Jazeera’s editorial stance.} Video - Source: https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2025/12/7/abu-shababs-death-signals-the-inevitable-failure-of-israels-plan-for-gaza

{Israel Showcases Arms Tested in Gaza Genocide to European and Asian

Israeli defense companies showcased battlefield technology, tested

London (QNN)- Israeli defense companies showcased battlefield
technology, tested during the two-year genocide in Gaza, at a conference
last week attended by dozens of European and Asian countries. A video of
two Israeli attack drones striking a building in Gaza before plumes of
smoke emerged was shown. According to The Wall Street Journal, Israel’s
Defense Tech Week took place on Monday and Tuesday. It was sponsored in
part by the Israeli defence ministry along with Tel Aviv University. One
video was shown at the event of two Israeli attack drones flying into a
building in Gaza before plumes of smoke emerged. Israel's
conference drew over 2,000 participants, including officials from
Germany, Norway, the UK, India, Uzbekistan, Singapore, Canada, and
Norway. A delegation from the European Union mingled in the same room
with uniformed Israeli military generals and fighter pilots who took
part in the genocide, the report said. “You see the first one hitting on
the left side…and then the second one goes to its own target,” Ran
Gozali, CEO of UVision Air, an Israeli defense-technology company, told
the audience.“These are some of the clips that we were approved to
share.” “Israel in the war, for good or for bad, proved what worked and
what didn’t,” said Alon Lifshitz, founding partner of Aurelius Capital,
a venture-capital firm based in Tel Aviv and New York that specializes
in dual-use technologies and cybersecurity for national-security
applications. Many European states imposed arms embargoes on Israeli
companies during the genocide, fully or partially limiting military
imports and exports, over the genocide which has killed more than 70,000
in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. However,
following the fragile ceasefire that took effect in early October and
has been repeatedly violated by Israel, these countries rushed to lift
the sanctions or took part in the Israeli event. In August, Norway's
sovereign wealth fund, the largest in the world and owned by the
government but managed independently of political decisions, said it had
divested from American construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar
Inc, and five Israeli banks over human rights violations in Gaza.
However, Norwegian officials attended the arms fair. In September,
Israeli officials were banned by the UK government from attending the
country's leading arms fair in London over the assault in Gaza. Last
week, British embassy officials toured the event. The British embassy in
Israel confirmed to the WSJ that its officials attended the event.
Germany, Israel’s second-largest arms supplier after the US and its
fifth-largest export partner who long standing as one of Israel’s
staunchest supporters, halted shipments of military equipment to Israel
that could be used in Gaza, before lifting the embargo after the current
ceasefire took effect. Germany sent one of the largest delegations
to the Israeli conference. Participants wore pins with united German and
Israeli flags. On Wednesday, reports confirmed that an Arrow 3
air-defense system that Germany purchased from Israel for about $4
billion became fully operational, becoming the first Arrow system to be
deployed outside of Israel and the US. It was the largest arms deal in
Israel’s history, WSJ said.} Source:

Gaza: Israeli Forces Kill Seven Palestinians, Ceasefire Mediators Urge
Israel to Withdraw
Gaza (QNN)- At least seven Palestinian civilians were killed on Saturday
in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, marking another violation of
the ceasefire that took effect in early October. Meanwhile, ceasefire
mediators have urged Israel to immediately withdraw from the war-torn
enclave to fully carry out the fragile agreement. According to medical
sources, seven people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza
since dawn on Saturday, including an elderly mother and her son in Gaza
City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, who were shot by an Israeli quadcopter. A
Civil Defense worker also succumbed to injuries he sustained in an
Israeli attack in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza on Friday while
inspecting his home, bringing the total number of Civil Defense
personnel killed across Gaza since the start of the Israeli genocide to
142. According to Mahmoud Basal, Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson, “The
Israeli occupation continues its systematic killing of civilians in the
Gaza Strip.” “Our message to the world, the international community, and
the mediators is this: How much longer will the killing of unarmed
people continue? You must act before more lives are taken.” On Sunday
morning, medical sources at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza confirmed that
a child was wounded by Israeli gunfire outside the yellow line in
al-Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City. Israel has continued to violate
the ceasefire which is now in its 58th day. Since the start of the
ceasefire, Israeli forces have killed at least 367 people and wounded
more than 950 others. Since the start of the war in October 2023,
Israeli forces have killed at least 70,354 people and wounded 171,030.
Qatar and Egypt, the states serving as guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire,
on Saturday called on Israel to withdraw from Gaza and for an
international stabilisation force be deployed, steps they say are
essential to fully carry out the fragile agreement. Mediators are now
working to advance the next phase of the ceasefire, which outlines these
measures, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said
during a panel discussion at the Doha Forum conference in Qatar's
capital on Saturday. "Now we are at the critical moment. It's not
yet there. So what we have just done is a pause," Al Thani told the
annual diplomatic gathering. “A ceasefire cannot be completed unless
there is a full withdrawal of the Israeli forces, [and] there is
stability back in Gaza, people can go in and out - which is not the case
today."} Source: https://qudsnen.co/post?id=66839&slug=gaza-israeli-forces-kill-seven-palestinians-ceasefire-mediators-urge-israel-to-withdraw

Trauma therapy Reaches All Children
Quds News - Dec 6, 2025 - By: Malak Hani Radwan
{Gaza Engineers and Therapists Turn to VR as Trauma Reaches All Children
A new virtual-reality therapy program is emerging as a critical tool for
mental-health workers treating Gaza’s youngest survivors, offering a
rare space for relief inside a war-shattered environment. War continues
to leave deep marks not only on bodies but also on the minds of Gaza’s
population, disrupting sleep, daily movement, and memory. For many, the
constant bombardment has created a psychological environment where the
smallest moments of calm become a form of survival. Children remain the
most affected. Doctors and mental-health workers in Gaza report severe
psychological and physical reactions among minors after two years of
war. Some children experience hair loss, speech disruptions, and
trauma-related regression. Others lose access to medical treatment or
are denied travel for care. Many injuries become life-threatening due to
a lack of medication and the collapse of the health sector. In this
context, an initiative known as TECH MED Gaza has begun offering
virtual-reality-based therapy to help children temporarily detach from
the scenes of destruction around them. The program uses Meta Quest 2 VR
headsets, described by the organizers as a “safe corridor” that allows
children to enter guided, calming environments designed for trauma
support. Jonathan Crickx, spokesman for UNICEF, recently stated that
around one million children—“all children in the Gaza Strip,” as he put
it—now require mental-health and psychosocial support after two years of
genocide. Abdullah Al-Jamal, Director of Mental Health in the Gaza
Strip, told QNN that the war has affected “every home in Gaza without
exception,” adding that children are at the highest risk of long-term
consequences if early intervention is not provided. “Based on field work
in this war, I am almost certain that all children in the Gaza Strip
have been exposed to various psychological traumas,” he said. He noted
that the destruction of all pre-war mental-health facilities,
governmental, private, and non-profit, has left services unable to meet
overwhelming demand.
How TECH MED Gaza Works
TECH MED Gaza integrates VR technology into mental-health treatment,
offering structured environments meant to support relaxation, emotional
regulation, and trauma processing. Sessions include calming nature
scenes, breathing exercises, guided mental-health routines, interactive
stories, and behavioral-therapy scenarios tailored to children. The
program also serves adult women and young people affected by the
genocide. The idea was first developed by engineer Musab Ali, whose son
was injured during the war and suffered psychological decline. As a
software engineer, he sought an alternative to mobile-phone screens and
began designing a VR-based method that might help injured children. He
collaborated with mental-health professionals and technical experts to
build the program. The first implementation was at Shuha’a Al-Aqsa
Hospital in Deir al-Balah, and the initiative later expanded to a camp
in Zawaida. Mental-health supervisor Abdullah Abu Shamla told QNN that
the program commonly treats symptoms such as anxiety, sleep disorders,
PTSD, flashbacks, hyperarousal, social isolation, panic attacks, and
behavioral issues like selective silence and avoidance. According to Abu
Shamla, VR-based sessions have shown promising results. He said that
children affected by amputations, injuries, or severe trauma have
responded “powerfully,” with faster stabilisation than in standard
sessions. Treatment that normally requires 10–12 sessions may show
results in 5–7 VR-assisted sessions. He also reported reductions in
anxiety within minutes, increased engagement among withdrawn children,
smoother transitions to speech-therapy work, and improvements in
emotional regulation and sleep.
Operational Challenges
Program staff say they face significant barriers: difficulty
transporting equipment, frequent power outages, environmental noise from
ongoing bombardment, limited supplies, and the need for continuous staff
training in a field that is new to Gaza. Long-term follow-up with
participants is often impossible due to repeated displacement. Asked
about specific cases that shaped their use of VR, staff pointed to
situations where children experienced severe panic, isolation, or
refusal to communicate during traditional therapy. One example involved
Sham, a young girl who lost a limb and stopped speaking but began
responding positively inside the virtual environment.
Case Examples from the Program
Shahada, 11, developed a serious bacterial-infection-related condition
caused by environmental contamination from the war. He suffers partial
paralysis affecting his lower limbs, upper limbs, and respiratory
system. After healthcare interruptions due to system collapse, he was
referred to TECH MED Gaza. Staff say he showed no movement in early
sessions but began attempting to move and walk by the third session.
Salah, 15, was shot in the head by a quadcopter drone while
playing with friends. TECH MED staff provided physiotherapy and
speech-therapy support. According to the program, Salah went from being
unable to sit upright to walking within two weeks. He has since returned
to school.
Local Model With Global Reference Points
According to the team, they examined VR-based mental-health models in
Europe and Canada but adapted the approach to local realities, including
war-related trauma and the practical limitations of operating in Gaza.
They describe the final model as fully Palestinian in its application.
While the program does not claim to offer a cure, its staff view it as
one tool among many needed to support Gaza’s children and survivors of
war. They emphasize that it provides temporary relief and a structured
environment for therapeutic intervention at a time when traditional
mental-health infrastructure has collapsed.} Source: https://qudsnen.co/post?id=66836&slug=gaza-engineers-and-therapists-turn-to-vr-as-trauma-reaches-all-children

{Top Israeli Official Says Israel Knew the Bibas Family Was Dead Since
2023 and That Hamas Didn’t Take Them, Yet Used Their Story to Fuel Gaza
Genocide Narrative
New testimony from a top Israeli official confirms Israel misled the
public for months about the Bibas family, using their deaths to shape
global opinion and justify the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israel knew since November 2023 that the Bibas
family had been killed, most likely in an Israeli airstrike. Despite
this, Israeli officials continued to tell the public that the Bibas
children were alive in Gaza, said an Israeli official. The case became
one of the most emotional pillars of Israel’s narrative during the war.
The confirmation came from Nitzan Alon, the former head of Israel’s POWs
and Missing Persons Headquarters. In a new interview, Alon said Israeli
intelligence identified the kidnappers early and established that Hamas
had not taken the family. “We knew who kidnapped them,” Alon said. “We
informed Hamas who the kidnappers were, so they could locate them and
recover the bodies.” His statements indicate that Israel had accurate
information about the family’s fate months before disclosing any
details. While intelligence units placed the Bibas family in the “Most
Probably Dead” (MPD) category shortly after October 7, Israeli officials
continued to use their case to portray Hamas as holding infants captive.
The Bibas children became a core symbol in Israel’s rhetoric and media
coverage. Alon’s remarks contradict that portrayal and show that
authorities maintained a misleading narrative even after receiving
strong evidence that the family had died. According to Alon, Hamas
struggled to find the Bibas family because they were never in its
custody. Israeli intelligence passed the kidnappers’ identities to Hamas
to help locate the bodies. He tied Hamas’s difficulties to internal
chaos following October 7, noting that negotiators understood the
disorganization during early hostage-related talks. Images of the
red-haired Bibas children were used widely in Israeli public discourse.
Officials referenced the case in speeches, interviews, and diplomatic
efforts. Alon’s disclosures now raise questions about how the government
used the family’s story even after it knew the truth. Alon described how
Israel established new classifications for missing persons after October
7, including the MPD category used for cases with strong evidence of
death. The Bibas family fell into that category early, according to
intelligence assessments. He also said intelligence units from the
military and the Shin Bet were activated overnight on October 7, and
their findings quickly pointed toward the family’s death.} Source: https://qudsnen.co/post?id=66834&slug=top-israeli-official-says-israel-knew-the-bibas-family-was-dead-since-2023-and-that-hamas-didnt-take-them-yet-used-their-story-to-fuel-gaza-genocide-narrative

exit plan which aims to ‘displace Palestinian people from their land’.
Gaza mediators Egypt and Qatar, and six other Muslim-majority countries
have raised the alarm over Israel’s stated plan for a one-way opening of
the Rafah border crossing, which would allow Palestinians to leave their
territory, but not to return, and block the entry of humanitarian aid.
Their warning comes as Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza continues
unabated, with some 600 violations of the ceasefire in the last seven
weeks, and reports that three people were killed in the latest round of
attacks on Saturday in the northern town of Beit Lahiya. The foreign
ministers of Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia,
Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement on Friday
that expressed “deep concern” over a recent Israeli military
announcement that the “Rafah Crossing will open in the coming days
exclusively for the exit of residents from the Gaza Strip to Egypt”. The
announcement, which breaches Israeli obligations under the first phase
of a United States-led peace plan, was made on Wednesday by an Israeli
military unit called the Coordination of Government Activities in the
Territories (COGAT), stating that one-way crossing would be allowed with
Israeli “security approval” in coordination with Egypt. However, Egypt
and its cosignatories slammed the plan, expressing their “complete
rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their
land” and stressing the need for Israel to fully comply with US
President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan, which calls for the Rafah
crossing to be opened in both directions.
The Rafah crossing has been mostly closed throughout the war.
Since the October 10 ceasefire took effect under Trump’s plan, Israeli
authorities have stalled on reopening it to allow desperately needed aid
to enter and people requiring medical treatment to leave, citing Hamas’s
failure to return the bodies of all captives and the need for
coordination with Egypt. Only one captive’s body remains in Gaza, and
retrieval has been hampered by the widespread destruction of the enclave
under Israeli bombardment. The ministers said they appreciated Trump’s
peace efforts, which foresee the formation of a technocratic Palestinian
government supported by a multinational stabilisation force under the
supervision of an international “board of peace”, insisting that his
plan move forward “without delay or obstruction”. They urged that
conditions be established allowing the Palestinian Authority to “resume
its responsibilities in Gaza”, calling for “sustainable peace” that
would enable the two-state solution to be rolled out, with “an
independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, including
Gaza and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital”. Gaza
featured prominently at the Doha Forum on Saturday, an annual diplomatic
conference in Qatar, with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin
Abdulrahman Al Thani saying that the two-month ceasefire was at a
“critical moment”. “We cannot consider it yet a ceasefire. A ceasefire
cannot be completed unless there is a full withdrawal of the Israeli
forces, (and) there is stability back in Gaza,” he said. Also speaking
at the conference, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that
negotiations over the Gaza international stabilisation force (ISF)
remained ongoing, including its mandate and rules of engagement, and
that its main objective should be to separate Israelis and Palestinians
along the border. Arab and other Muslim countries, which had expressed
interest in providing troops for an ISF, had insisted the US include
more defined language about Palestinian self-determination in the plan
before a United Nations Security Council vote last month. Israeli
attempts to stymie the move failed.
Attacks continue despite ceasefire
Meanwhile, Israel kept up intense attacks on Gaza overnight into
Saturday morning, killing three people in a drone strike in the northern
town of Beit Lahiya, where it was carrying out a demolition operation.
Reporting from Gaza City, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud said the victims
were part of a group of family members who had been travelling to
inspect their farm in the northern part of the Strip. Mahmoud said that
Israeli sources had claimed the family had breached the so-called yellow
line designating the area to which Israeli troops have withdrawn under
the truce, but that members had not been aware they were in a “dangerous
and restricted” zone. In other attacks, Israel pummelled Gaza with at
least 20 air strikes across the enclave, including eastern Gaza city,
the centrally located Maghazi refugee camp and the southern city of
Rafah. There were also reports of artillery shelling and heavy fire from
tanks and aircraft in areas where the Israeli military is currently
stationed east of Khan Younis and Rafah. Israeli gunboats attacked
Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of Khan Younis, amid heavy
gunfire and shelling. The Israeli army continues to control the southern
and eastern belts of the Strip, along with large parts of northern Gaza,
spanning more than 50 percent of the enclave’s total area. Israel’s
genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 70,125 Palestinians and
wounded 171,015 since October 2023.} Video - Source: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/12/6/arab-muslim-nations-reject-israels-exit-only-plan-for-rafah-crossing
