Javad Mohammadi-Fard
Iranwire - September 26, 2024
<<Iranian Political Prisoner Attempts Suicide After Denied Medical Care
An Iranian political prisoner attempted to take his own life after being
denied medical treatment by authorities of the Islamic Republic,
according to human rights sources. Javad Mohammadi-Fard, detained in
Urmia Prison in northwestern Iran, was transferred to Razi Psychiatric
Hospital and returned to prison just hours later following the incident.
According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA),
Mohammadi-Fard attempted suicide by hanging due to a severe illness.
Despite suffering from stomach pain and bleeding, which a doctor
suspected to be cancer, he has been denied specialized treatment and
medical leave. Mohammadi-Fard was arrested in July 2022 in Urmia and
released on bail. In July 2023, the Urmia Revolutionary Court sentenced
him to four years in prison on security charges.

village of 'Targheh' and arrested three members of a family: Sarveh
Shiri, 22, her brother Peyman Shiri, 19, and their cousin Fardin Shiri.

Sarvnaz Ahmadi
NCRI - Womens committee - 25 Sept 2024 - in Women's News
<<Political Prisoner Sarvnaz Ahmadi on Medication Strike Amid Health
Crisis
Political prisoner, Sarvnaz Ahmadi, has been on a medication strike
since September 7, 2024, protesting the rejection of her medical
furlough request and the delay in delivering her essential medications.
Sarvnaz Ahmadi, who suffers from a neurological condition, recently
experienced another severe nervous attack. Despite her deteriorating
physical health, she has continued her medication strike. This strike
has caused her to suffer from persistent headaches, insomnia, and severe
muscle spasms. On the seventeenth day of her strike, she remains
defiant, refusing both her regular medication and sedatives. As a
result, she is enduring chronic pain, and the recurrence of her nervous
attacks is a looming threat. Ahmadi had previously suffered a nervous
breakdown during a security forces' raid on the women's ward of Evin
Prison and was subsequently transferred to the hospital. After an
assessment, doctors expressed concerns that she may have epilepsy and
emphasized that she requires specialized medical care outside the
prison. Sarvnaz Ahmadi was arrested during the nationwide protests in
2022. After a period of detention, she was released on bail but was
re-arrested on April 27, 2023, at the home of teacher activist Mohammad
Habibi. Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced her to
five years in prison for <collusion and assembly against national
security> and an additional year for <propaganda against the regime.>
This sentence was later reduced to 3.5 years by Branch 36 of the Tehran
Court of Appeals. Sarvnaz Ahmadi holds a master's degree in social work
from the University of Rehabilitation Sciences in Velenjak. The
imprisonment of individuals with serious illnesses is a blatant
violation of the fundamental principles of the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights. This practice not only contradicts basic human and moral
values but also violates several articles of this Declaration.>>

Iranian Students Hold Protest
Iranwire - September 25, 2024
<<Iranian Students Hold Protest for Release of Jailed Peer
Students at Allameh Tabatabai University in Tehran have staged a protest
rally demanding the release of imprisoned student Zia Nabavi and the
reinstatement of other suspended students. Demonstrators gathered with
placards bearing slogans such as "Zia Nabavi should be freed,"
"Education is our inalienable right," and "Suspended students should
return to the university." Images of the protest were shared on the
Instagram page of the student association of Allameh Tabatabai
University. Nabavi is serving a one-year sentence for <propaganda
against the Islamic Republic,> a charge stemming from his protest
against the serial poisoning of school students in 2022 and 2023. The
sentence was upheld by the Tehran Court of Appeals in August 2023, and
Nabavi began serving it in April this year. In 2022 and 2023, Iran
witnessed widespread protests following a series of mysterious
poisonings targeting schoolgirls. Thousands of students fell ill,
sparking outrage and accusations of government negligence and
involvement.>>

Gohar Eshghi
Iranwire - September 25, 2024
<<Sattar is Worried about His Mother...
<<Slain Iranian Blogger's Mother Faces Surveillance After Protest Threat
The mother of a murdered blogger in Iran posted on X social media
platform reporting a heavy security presence around her location after
she thteatened to protest for the release of a political prisoner.
According to the post, Gohar Eshghi, the mother of murdered blogger
Sattar Beheshti, experienced a drop in blood pressure due to anxiety
caused by the tense security situation. Last week, Eshghi warned that
she would begin a hunger strike in front of the United Nations office in
Tehran if the mother of Shahriar Mohammadi, a protester killed in the
2022 nationwide demonstrations, was not released. On Monday morning,
Eshghi's daughter, Sahar Beheshti, attempted to contact her mother but
was unsuccessful. The post indicated that when Eshghi planned to travel
to Tehran herself, security forces intervened, further worsening her
health condition. A family member sent to check on Eshghi at Sahar
Beheshti's request described the situation as abnormal, with the area
heavily monitored by security forces. A decision was made to move Eshghi
to her daughter's house for care. However, suspicious vehicles followed
their car to Sahar Beheshti's home, where the neighborhood remained
under tight security surveillance, and all movements were closely
monitored. Blogger Sattar Beheshti died four days after Iran’s Cyber
Police Unit took him into custody in 2012. Numerous reports have
surfaced detailing the harsh nature of his interrogations and the
torture he suffered at the hands of the authorities - including being
hung from the ceiling by different parts of his body. Beheshti was the
author of a blog entitled "My Life for My Iran," which is thought to
have been the reason behind his arrest.>>

Mohsen Borhani
Iranwire - September 24, 2024
<<Prominent Iranian Lawyer Released After 79 Days
Mohsen Borhani, a prominent lawyer and outspoken critic of the Iranian
government, was released from prison on Monday after 79 days of
detention.
The news was announced by his brother, Ahmad Borhani, through an
Instagram story. "Mr. Borhani was released from prison today after about
79 days of imprisonment, citing the recent amnesty announcement by the
judiciary, and his case was closed," Ahmad Borhani stated. His release
follows a significant development in his professional life. Last month,
his suspension from Tehran University was revoked, and an order for his
reinstatement was issued. Borhani's ordeal began on July 28 when his
brother first reported his arrest via social media. Before his arrest,
Borhani had revealed in an interview that the legal deputy of the IRGC
Intelligence Organization had sought a 20-year prison sentence for him
in June of the previous year. Last year, Borhani was among several
critical professors across Iranian universities who were suspended and
banned from teaching, part of a broader crackdown on dissenting voices
within academic institutions.>>

Amir Hossein Haghjooyan
Iranwire - September 24, 2024
<<Iranian Security Forces Arrest Relative of Executed Protester
Iranian security forces have arrested Amir Hossein Haghjooyan, a
relative of Reza Rasaei, an executed protester from Kermanshah province.
Haghjooyan was reportedly detained by members of the Islamic
Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence in Sahneh and taken to an
undisclosed location. The reasons for his arrest and potential charges
remain unclear. Reza Rasaei was arrested during the 2022 nationwide
protests in Iran and was executed on August 6, 2023, in Dizelabad
Prison. His family was not given prior notice or allowed a final
meeting. Rasaei was sentenced to death for the alleged murder of Nader
Bairami, the IRGC's intelligence chief in Sahneh City. However, human
rights organizations have expressed concerns about the case, alleging
that the verdict was issued under pressure from the head of the
judiciary despite a lack of evidence to support the charges. Rasaei's
conviction was based on confessions that are believed to have been
obtained through torture and fabrication over several months. No
concrete evidence has been presented to substantiate the charges against
him.>>

Sepehr Jafari Naeimi
Iranwire - September 24, 2024
<<Iranian Baha'i Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Social Media Posts
A 24-year-old Iranian Baha'i citizen, Sepehr Jafari Naeimi, has been
sentenced in absentia to two years in prison by the Revolutionary Court
of Yazd for his social media posts about the death of Mahsa Amini, a
young woman who died in police custody last year, and his advocacy for
the Baha'i faith. On September 22, Branch 1 of the Yazd Revolutionary
Court issued a ruling that sentenced Naeimi to eight months in prison
for <propaganda against the Islamic Republic> and sixteen months for
<insulting the Supreme Leader and the founder of the Islamic Republic.>
According to the HRANA human rights organization, the case against
Naeimi began in early 2023 when he was summoned to the Tehran
Prosecutor's Office for questioning regarding his social media content.
He was released after interrogation. In December 2023, he was summoned
again to the Yazd prosecutor's office in connection with the same case
and released on bail following further questioning. The Iranian
government does not recognize the Baha'i faith, and its followers have
faced systematic discrimination in the country for decades. Baha'is have
been persecuted in Iran because of their faith and are often accused of
being spies or opposed to the Iranian government. The Baha'i
International Community states no evidence has been provided to support
these charges. The Iranian government has intensified its crackdown on
members of the Baha'i faith, imprisoning dozens of them on spurious
charges over the past year, denying them access to higher education and
livelihoods, and confiscating or destroying their properties.>>

western Ilam province, has been sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in
prison by a court in Tehran. Nemati, 48, was sentenced to 8 months for
<propaganda against the Islamic Republic,> 40 months for <insulting
