Editorial by G. d'A.: Dear reader, as a webmaster also I constantly have to guard the read-ability of the 'Cryfreedom'-outlet and sometimes decisions need to be made to have it be for your convenience and moreso in total support of the women-led revolt in Iran which inevitably will be a grand Victory. Still, choices must be made always and so I've decided to, for now, embed all the actual news about the 'NO-hijab; 'Biological terror attscks against schoolgirls'; 'Iranian journalists under siege'; 'Blinding as a weapon' and 'The hanging spree' as part of the 'Actual news' updates of the Iran 'Woman, Life, Freedom' section. But, if need be and urgent attention and action is needed concerning the above mentioned topics it will get an extra emphasized place as part of the actual news page-layout. Thank you for being a reader and for your support of the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' revolution.

Hanieh Tavassoli
Iranwire - September 23, 2024
<<Iranian Actress Faces Unofficial Ban for Supporting 2022 Protests
The Islamic Republic's authorities have unofficially banned an actress from working in the country after she supported the 2022 protests. Hanieh Tavassoli, a renowned Iranian film actress who publicly supported the Woman, Life, Freedom protests, is facing a "prohibition from acting," according to her lawyer, Maryam Kian Ersi. Ersi said that Tavassoli has been banned without an official ruling barring her from work. "Even though my client Hanieh Tavassoli did not have a ruling banning her from work, she continues to face prohibition from acting," Ersi added.
The lawyer did not specify which institution was responsible for the prohibition.
Tavassoli was among the Iranian cinema figures who voiced support for the nationwide protests following the death in custody of Mahsa Amini in September 2022. On the first anniversary of Amini's death, Tavassoli posted on Instagram, calling Amini a "legend" and stating, "Mahsa is eternal." Hours after this post, she was arrested. Tavassoli, 44, was arrested at her home in mid-September 2023 and released on bail the following day, after speaking out against the government's crackdown on dissent and expressing solidarity with victims of human rights abuses. She was charged with "publishing content contrary to reality with the intention of disturbing the public mind."

Shahryar Baratinya
Iranwire - September 23, 2024
Iranian Political Activist Trapped in Legal Limbo
<<Shahryar Baratinya, an Iranian political activist, has been detained in Evin Prison for the past 14 months without leave following his deportation from Türkiye to Iran. He was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison along with a fine. According to a source who spoke with IranWire, Baratinya had requested the Supreme Court to determine the appropriate branch to review his case. However, despite more than three months passing, the court has not issued a decision, leaving him in a state of legal uncertainty. Baratinya's family has made repeated attempts to follow up on the matter, but their efforts have been in vain. They have been informed that the case is still pending, and despite the usual priority of determining the court's jurisdiction, they are asked to continue waiting for a resolution. To add to the hardship, Baratinya's mother is unwell and incapable of making the weekly trips from Yasuj to Tehran to visit her son. The family has to rent accommodation in Tehran for these visits, resulting in significant expenses and enduring the challenging journey through mountainous roads.
Despite Baratinya's circumstances, including his mother's deteriorating health, the court has not taken any steps to expedite his request for conditional release, which could provide him with temporary relief. Baratinya, a political activist and former political prisoner was deported from Türkiye to Iran on August 3, 2023, and is currently being held in Ward 209 of Evin Prison. Upon returning to the country from Europe two years ago, he was detained by the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj, the capital of Iran’s Kurdistan province, as per the source speaking to IranWire. After securing his release on a 700-million-toman ($14,000) bail, he illegally crossed the border to Türkiye, where he lived without a resident permit. Turkish authorities arrested the activist in Istanbul on June 22, 2023, before transferring him to Dogubeyazit for deportation.>>

Pezeshkian Must Be Questioned
Center for Human Rights in Iran - Sept 23 2024
<<Iran's President Pezeshkian Must Be Questioned on Human Rights Crisis at UNGA
Mass Executions, Abuse of Political Prisoners, Severe Violations of Women's Rights Must Be Addressed
September 23, 2024 - As Member States and journalists prepare to meet with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and other members of his delegation at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, it is crucial to address the severe human rights abuses in the country, which the UN has now described as "crimes against humanity." "The president of Iran is free to travel to New York, while his government keeps thousands behind bars for peacefully criticizing the state’s repressive policies, including a woman who the world has honored with the Nobel Peace Prize," said Hadi Ghaemi, executive director of the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI). "The world must not allow its attention to be diverted from the human rights crisis in Iran, or more women, children and men will remain unjustly imprisoned, face torture, and be sent to the gallows," Ghaemi added.
We urge all attendees to raise the following issues with the Iranian delegation:
Rampant executions: Executions have surged to hundreds already just this year, all without due process, and now including the hanging of peaceful protesters.
Political prisoners: Activists, protesters and any critics of the state continue to be imprisoned, tortured, and even sent to their deaths, and severely abused in prison.
Violations of women's rights: Women face systemic discrimination, including a new law increasing the punishments for resisting mandatory hijab, imprisonment and death sentences for advocating for women's rights, and severe abuse in Iran's prisons.
Persecution of minorities: Ethnic and religious minorities continue to be discriminated against, and disproportionally executed, arrested and killed in the streets.
Continuation of hostage taking: Iran continues to abduct foreign/dual nationals to use as bargaining chips from France, the U.S., Germany, Sweden, Canada, and elsewhere.
To coincide with Pezeshkian's speech at the UNGA, 47 women political prisoners from Iran's notorious Evin prison will go on a hunger strike from 10 PM on September 23rd to 10 PM on September 24th, in a desperate attempt to call attention to the plight of Iran's political prisoners.
CHRI urges journalists and state representatives to prioritize these human rights abuses in their discussions with the Iranian leadership. The human rights crisis in Iran will continue to worsen without meaningful attention and action by the international community.>>

Hengaw Organisation for Human Right - Sept 23, 2024
<<Iranian Supreme Court Upholds the Death Sentence of Kurdish Political Prisoner, Hatem Ozdemir
The death sentence of Hatem Ozdemir, a Kurdish political prisoner from the Ağrı Province of Kurdistan of Turkey, imprisoned in Urmia Central Prison, who had previously been sentenced to death for <waging war against the state,> has been upheld by the Iranian Supreme Court. According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the death sentence of Hatem Ozdemir, 28, from the Ağrı Province of Kurdistan of Turkey, who was sentenced to death in May of this year by Branch 3 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia headed over by Judge <Najafzadeh> for the charge of <waging war against the state,> has recently been upheld by the Supreme Court after his lawyer's appeal.
Hatem Ozdemir was arrested on July 2, 2019, along with a group of members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the border regions of Chaldoran, after being ambushed by forces from the Hamzeh Seyyed al-Shohada Base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). During the shooting and shelling in the region, Ozdemir was wounded and knocked unconscious by a mortar blast, after which he was arrested and transferred to the Ramazan Base detention center in Urmia. This political prisoner, after about 50 days of interrogation and torture at this detention center, was transferred to Urmia Central Prison on August 19, 2019. On March 9, 2022, after 33 months of temporary detention and being deprived of the right to access a lawyer, he was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Khoy for the charge of <rebellion> and to 5 years of imprisonment for <membership in a terrorist group.> Following an appeal to the verdict, his case was referred to the Supreme Court for review. In March 2023, the death sentence was overturned by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court, presided over by 'Qasem Mazinani,' and the case was sent back to Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia for reconsideration. The trial of this Kurdish political prisoner was held on April 23, 2024, in the aforementioned branch, and his death sentence was officially communicated to him in Urmia Prison on May 19.

The controversial Hijab and Chastity bill is now ready to be implemented, marking a decisive step in the government's efforts to tighten women’s dress code controls. The chair of the Judicial and Legal Committee of the mullahs’ parliament, Mousa Ghazanfarabadi, emphasized the bill's importance and urged all government bodies to cooperate in its enforcement. One of the key changes that stands out is the substantial increase in fines for those violating the law. Fines will now be significantly higher, following government approval of raised penalties. The scope of the Hijab and Chastity bill also extends to private individuals and vehicles, which has raised concerns about personal privacy and autonomy. In response to mounting public criticism, an initial plan to automatically deduct fines from bank accounts was scrapped. Instead, violators will now have a one-week period to settle their penalties.
The bill infringes on personal freedoms and disproportionately targets women. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights stated on September 1, 2023, in which a group of UN Human Rights Council-appointed experts slammed Iran's Hijab law. The experts said the bill could amount to "Gender Apartheid," underscoring the global concern over Iran's increasingly repressive stance on women's rights. Despite the final approval, questions remain about how well the government and judiciary will collaborate to enforce this law. With rising tensions and increasing fines, the government faces a significant challenge in balancing the law’s enforcement with the growing dissatisfaction among the Iranian public. The regime's new president has intensified measures to crack down on society since assuming office. The new Hijab and Chastity bill complements the already rising number of executions aimed at keeping society in check.>>
