Feminist Manifesto
Jinha - Womens News Agency - October 16, 2023
<<Joint statement by feminists: We express our solidarity with Palestinian resistance
News Center- A joint statement has been released by the Iraqi Women Network, JÎN Women Association, Kohl Journal, Kyp community, Namaa Women For Culture Development, Nassawiyat, World March of Women- Lebanon (Marche mondiale des femmes - Liban), The Sex Talk Arabic, Eastern Sudanese Women, NOUN Solidarity Rural Feminists, Takatoat, Feminist Consciousness Revolution, FEMALE, Aswat Nissa and SLETATE. The statement entitled, <A Feminist Manifesto: Anti-colonialism is a feminist issue” said, <We, the undersigned feminist groups and institutions, express our solidarity with Palestinian resistance in all its forms and stand firmly against injustice and colonization.>
The statement is as follows:
'We reject any stigmatisation or scepticism of this resistance'
<As feminists within these groups and institutions, we, like millions of women in the region, reject any stigmatisation or scepticism of this resistance as anything other than an anticolonial liberation struggle, one that will only conclude with the liberation and restoration of the historical land of Palestine and all bodies oppressed under the military and structural despotism of Western settler colonialism in Palestine.
'We see Palestinian resistance as an integral part of our struggle for a just world'
We view feminism as both a liberatory thought and a practice that combats injustice and oppression, primarily seeking to enforce justice and dismantle power imbalances. Palestinian resistance in all its forms represents a legitimate practice for confronting a ruthless colonial system that has abused and denied the lives of millions for decades. We commend it and see it as an integral part of our struggle for a just world. Colonial and liberal discourses attempt to construct a single model of feminism: the feminism of the white bodies in the metropoles (Europe and North America). It is a form of feminism constricted to a so-called <human rights> framework created by colonial powers and employed in the sustenance of their interests. Liberal feminism is puzzled by any departure from this model and strives to negate and erase it. Consequently, our feminism faces disparagement and scepticism because it supports liberatory practices that challenge and threaten existing colonial and patriarchal systems at once; the armed resistance of the Palestinian people is one of those saluted practices. Liberal/White feminism inattentions the oppressed in the Global South and acts patronisingly, through conditioned funding at times and militarised oppression at others. Liberal/white feminism claims to rescue select categories of women and individuals from their societies. It repeatedly attempts to strip us of the intersectional foundations of our intellectual selves. The collective armed struggle is an indomitable path towards the liberation of land and body from colonialism and its occupation.
'We call on all our allies to unequivocally stand behind all forms of Palestinian resistance'
We refuse anyone's attempt at denying or questioning our feminism or any feminism that declares its support of a resistance linked to religious parties. We reject being pigeonholed into these simplistic dichotomies. Our feminism has taught us to understand the contradictions in which we live and to act accordingly. We decide our battles and contradictions. Our struggle against Israeli colonisation is inseparable from the freedom and security of the entire region's people. Our feminism has taught us to understand our positions, map our alliances, and amplify the voices of the marginalised without dictations or conditions.
We, the undersigned feminist institutions, journals, and groups, call on all our allies in the struggle for justice to unequivocally stand behind all forms of Palestinian resistance. Let us not succumb to the narratives of liberal and white feminists, but rather support the Palestinian people and their resistance through all available means. You can share this statement and reach out to us to add your voice to ours.> >>

Supporting opinion by Gino d'Artali: In 2021 I distanced myself from the Western feminists with these words: Back then I started with a monthly follow-up of the international women's day and onwards. But in my opinion something has changed within the ranks of the of the Western women i.e. 'feminists' because they hardly stand on the barricades anymore. Shame on them because their's still a lot one should fight for! And that's why I called it 'The feminist revolution/Perpetrators exposed!' from then on. But at first my attention shifted to the Afghanistan Women's Resistence and since then I've been more and more concentrating more and more and also what is happening in Iran and I'd say again and more and more also the Middle-east where feminism kind of was and is re-born. Thus dear sisters, forget about the Western feminists, there aren't any left. Instead keep fighting on your terps and beat the male oppressors!

Journalist gaza
Jinha - Womens News Agency - October 17, 2023 - by RAFIF ESLEEM
<<Israel keeps targeting journalists in Gaza
Gaza- Israel keeps targeting journalists covering the Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip. Until now, 11 Palestinian journalists have been killed, 20 more have been injured and two journalists have been missing in Gaza since the Israel-Palestinian war began on October 7. Palestinian journalist Saba Abu Amra said, <The Gaza Strip has been attacked every day. 52% of the killed people are women and children. There are 50,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip and 5,500 of them will give birth this month. All hospitals are about running out of generator fuel and basic supplies. Many hospitals are out of service because the buildings around them were targeted and destroyed by Israel. In addition to pregnant women, there are cancer and kidney patients, who need treatment.>
'There are people still trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings'
Saba Abu Amra pointing to the people still trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings. <They are waiting to be rescued. More than 470,000 people have been displaced because of Israel's airstrikes. They have taken shelter in the southern Gaza Strip. There are concerns of the spread of infections due to the lack of water. Israel has violated the international conventions by targeting civilians. As Palestinian journalists, we have been deliberately targeted since the beginning of the attacks, even though we have press ID cards. In addition, dozens of press outlets have been targeted,> Saba Abu Amra told NuJINHA.
'Solidarity is needed to protect journalists'
Speaking about the reports of the international press outlets on the war, she said, <Some press outlets blame Palestinians. Some reported that Israeli children were beheaded. Then, a CNN reporter issued an apology and said that the reports were not confirmed. The aim of such fake news is to end the international solidarity for the Palestinian cause and the demonstrations demanding an end to the Israeli attacks on Palestinians. If Israel keeps targeting journalists, journalists will not be able to report the facts and the crimes committed by Israel will be covered up. International solidarity is needed to protect Palestinian journalists so that they will report what is happening here impartially.> Speaking about the report released by the Freedom committee at the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, she said, <According to the report, 11 Palestinian journalists have been killed in the airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since October 7. About 20 journalists' homes have been destroyed completely and some partially in the airstrikes. The buildings of about 50 press outlets have been destroyed by Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip. Many Palestinian journalists have received threats on social media platforms.> Saba Abu Amra also told us that the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate sent a letter to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). <In the letter, the syndicate called on all press outlets to adhere to the journalistic values and to be impartial.> >>

<<7th anniversary of liberation of Raqqa: We are happy but our children are still missing
Raqqa- The city of Raqqa, northeastern Syria, was liberated from ISIS on October 20, 2017. The liberation of the city was like a new birth for the people of North and East Syria because it was one of the areas controlled by ISIS. Although seven years have passed since the city was liberated, the women, whose relatives went missing after being arrested by ISIS, hope that their missing relatives will return one day. NuJINHA spoke to several women of Raqqa, whose relatives are still missing. Speaking about what they had witnessed when the city was controlled by ISIS, Fadha Al-Xalaf said, <We witnessed injustice. The rights violations committed by ISIS against us are indescribable. They forced women to wear black burqa and veils. Once, the members of ISIS were going to arrest my daughter because she did not wear a veil. In 2015, my husband was arrested by mercenaries when he was 50. He was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a member of Syrian government forces. Of course, the accusation was unfounded. They raided our house at midnight and arrested my husband. They took him to a stadium used as a prison.>
'I will never lose hope'
Raqqa's municipal stadium was turned into a prison where brutal crimes against women, especially Yazidis, were committed. Fadha el-Xalaf described the prison as <A place, where all forms of violence and injustice took place.> After she visited her husband in the prison, her husband went missing. <I looked for him in every detention center, even in the detention center in the city of Manbij; however, I could not find him...Since then, I have been waiting for my husband to return. I will never lose hope.>

<<Women of Rojhelat: The gains in Rojava cannot be destroyed
Mahabad- Condemning the ongoing Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, the women of Rojhelat said that the aim of the Turkish attacks is to commit a genocide against the Kurdish people. <The Kurdish people have built a strong and beautiful life in North and East Syria. The capitalist systems aim to destroy this life,> said Rozhan Mohammadi, who lives in Mahabad.
'Press outlets all around the world just watch the war crimes'
Recalling the historic resistance in North and East Syria against the brutality of ISIS, Rozhan Mohammadi said, <Today, press outlets all around the world just watch and cover the war crimes committed by Erdoğan in Rojava. While Erdoğan defends the resistance in Palestine, he launches airstrikes on hospitals and schools in Rojava. The whole world should know that the genocide against the Kurds have been committed and supported by capitalist systems for years.>
'No borders can separate us'
Emphasizing that borders cannot separate women's resistance, Rozhan Mohammadi said, <As a Kurdish woman from Mahabad, I say that no borders can separate us because we are the women who universalize their struggle for freedom with the 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi' slogan. The resistance in Rojava became a role model for us in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan after the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini.>
'If needed, we will take to the streets for the people of Rojava'
S.M., a woman living in Sardasht, did not want her name to be mentioned for security reasons. She told NuJINHA that they had also raised their voices in Rojhelat for the fighters of Kobane when ISIS had attacked Kobane.
<Our hearts beat for the fighters from Rojhelat to Rojava. Great gains were achieved in Rojava by paying heavy prices. Neither ISIS nor Erdogan can destroy these gains. The people of Rojava learned how to struggle with determination from Kandil and Zagros. Dictator Erdogan cannot realize his dream of 'one flag and one language' in Rojava. If needed, we will take to the streets again for the people of Rojava and chant Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.> >>

<<'Special war policies leave society breathless'
Amed- Special war policies systematically carried out in Northern Kurdistan have spread to every sphere of life agencification, ecological destruction, dams, femicide, suspicious deaths, the policy of impunity, drug addiction and the incidents of harassment are all part of these special war policies. These war policies are carried out in Kurdish cities especially by public employees, police officers and soldiers. The recent harassment of two women in the city of Van by six specialized sergeants sparked anger. Women call on NGOs, social dynamics of cities, to take action against these policies.
'The situation has been deteriorating since 2016'
Fatmagul Tekin, one of the founders of the Rosa Women's Association, said that their association has carried out activities against these policies since it was founded. <These policies are carried out against especially women and children. The aim is to force young people into prostitution and to use and sell drugs. The NGOs fighting these policies were shut down by emergency decrees. The NGOs providing support to young people and women were sealed. These policies isolate women and young women in the region,> Fatmagul Tekin said.
'These policies leave society breathless'
<These policies have spread to every sphere of our lives,> Fatmagul Tekin said, <These policies are generally carried out by uniformed people such as public employees, police officers and soldiers. There are many incidents of specialized sergeants such as the missing of Gulistan Doku and the death of İpek Er. These policies leave society breathless. Forced migration, the drug use and agencification are some parts of these policies. We face such policies in almost every sphere of our lives. As women, we have brought these policies forward for years; however, these policies continue to be carried out in our region.>
'The solution is self-organization'
Fatmagul Tekin thinks the only solution to end these policies is self-organization. <Women's organizations and NGOs should unite against these policies. They should carry out awareness-raising activities.>
'We all know that policies are implemented deliberately'
In an interview with NuJINHA, Aygun Taşkın said, <We all know that these policies are implemented deliberately. Drug use is on the rise. The age of drug use has dropped to nine. These policies are especially carried out against young people, women and children in Kurdistan. Awareness-raising activities should be carried out against these policies.> Aygun Taşkın called on parents and young people to <be aware of these policies. In the region, at least a woman is killed every day. The incidents of suspicious deaths among women are also on the rise. These policies aim to keep young people and women away from politics. Those who sell drugs and kill women go unpunished. Although the state knows what is going on in the region, it remains silent. Everyone should raise their voices against these policies.> >>

<<Women of Sweida demand justice, equality, change
Sweida- The peaceful protests erupted in the Druze majority city of Sweida over the high inflation rate and deteriorating economic situation in Syria on August 17, 2023 continue on their second months. On the first death anniversary of journalist Muntaha al-Atrash, the people of Sweida went to the town of al-Qurayya, hometown of Muntaha al-Atrash, and gathered in front of the memorial monument of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash. Maysoon Abu Saab, one of the people gathering in front of the monument, said, <My son Ihab Abu Saab was held in prison for five years although there was no reason for his arrest. Then, he was executed.> After the execution of her son, Maysoon Abu Saab's health condition deteriorated and she had a heart attack and suffered a stroke in her hand. She demands the Syrian government be held accountable for its crimes against the people and the release of all political prisoners. Calling on all women in Syria, she said, <We must rise up against the regime that deprives us of all our rights and kills our children.>
Her brother was sentenced to death.
Salha Abu Saab has been participating in the protests since August 17 to demand justice for her brother, who was executed by the Syrian regime. <My brother was held in Tadmor prison for 10 years. Then, he was sentenced to death. We are not allowed to visit him. Recently, one of his friends was released from prison and I learned how my brother is from him. All prisoners must be immediately released,> she told NuJINHA.
'I encourage women to demand their rights'
Najah Hudayfa's son was killed in Jisr al-Shughur, a city in northwestern Syria. <I came here to commemorate Muntaha al-Atrash and protest the deteriorating economic situation in Syria. <<NADA: The Turkish attacks on North and East Syria should end
News Center- The Democratic Women's Alliance in the Middle East and North Africa (NADA) released a written statement regarding the Turkish attacks on North and East Syria since October 5. <The attacks is against the people of the region,> the statement said.
The statement is as follows:
<Since October 4, 2023, the Turkish warplanes, drones, artillery and mortars have been targeting civilian settlements and vehicles, electric power stations, gas stations, water resources and energy supplies, oil fields, health centers, hospitals, schools and oil fields. Until now, 145 regions have been targeted. The aim of these attacks is to displace people from their homelands, change the demographic structure of the region and destabilize the region. Call for immediate end to the attacks
In the statement, the NADA saluted the resistance of the Palestinian people. <Defending their freedom and dignity is their legitimate right. We are against all rights violations. Mizgin Xelil

<<Mizgin Xelil: The people will prevail against the Turkish attacks
Kobane - Since October 5, the Turkish state has been carrying out attacks on North and East Syria, killing 47 people, including two children, and injuring many people. In an interview with NuJINHA, Mizgin Xelil, Deputy Chair of the Executive Council in the Euphrates Region, commented on the ongoing Turkish attacks on North and East Syria.
'The system has been targeted'
Mizgin Xelil emphasized that the Turkish attacks aim to destroy the gains of North and East Syrian people, <However, the will of the people cannot be defeated.> Mentioning the international silence against the Turkish attacks on the region, she said:
<Everyone just watches while the Turkish state openly carries out its brutal attacks once again. These are not the first attacks of the Turkish state; it previously attacked the Kurdish people by using ISIS. Turkey’s Minister of Interior made a speech and said that they would target the infrastructure of the region. The system based on democracy in North and East Syria has been targeted. The Turkish state has revealed its true colors after the defeat of ISIS.>
'Five million people live here'
Recalling the occupation of Gire Spi (Tell Abyad) and Serekaniye (Ras al-Ayn) by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions, she said, <They occupied Gire Spi and Serekaniye in October 2019. They began to attack the region in October again. The Turkish attacks have been targeting civilian settlements and vehicles, electric power stations, gas stations, water resources and energy supplies, oil fields, health centers, hospitals, schools and oil fields. Five million people live here. The people of North and East Syria have been displaced.>
'The Turkish state cannot break the will of the people'
In her speech, Mizgin Xelil said again that the aim of the Turkish attacks is to destroy the democratic system built by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). <During the protests in Sweida, people have demanded a democratic system like the system of the AANES. Erdogan wants to destroy the system of the AANES. This system is a system that has created itself from nothing for 12 years, despite all kinds of difficulties. 11,000 people were martyred and 24,000 were injured for this revolution. The Turkish state cannot break the will of the people, who have lost so many people.>
'Such attacks will definitely fail'
Mizgin Xelil emphasized that the people of North and East Syria do not leave their homelands although the Turkish attacks have targeted their life sources. <On the contrary, the people resist more. They hold marches, release statements and resist the Turkish attacks. For this reason, such attacks will definitely fail. The people will prevail.> >>

<<Women of Kobane: We will keep defending our lands
Kobane- The Turkish state has intensified its attacks on North and East Syria since Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan claimed that the assailants behind Ankara's attack on October 1 had received training in Syria. 49 people, including two children, have been killed and many power plants, oil fields, grain warehouses, factories and dams have been damaged in the Turkish ground and air attacks since October 5. Reacting to the Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, the women of Kobane call for protection of the gains of the women's revolution.
'It will see resisting women in every Kurdish woman'
Helmiya Osman thinks the aim of the Turkish state is to annihilate Kurdish people by attacking them. <Especially, women’s revolution has been targeted,> she said, <Although the Turkish state has committed crimes in North and East Syria, many countries remain silent. The Turkish state aims to expand its territory by occupying areas in North and East Syria. But it will fail to achieve this. It will see dozens of resisting women such as Arin, Revan, Avesta and Zilan in every Kurdish woman. We follow in the footsteps of resisting women.>
'We will not leave our lands and surrender'
Helmiya Osman recalled the 134-day resistance of the women of Kobane against ISIS and said, <Dozens of civilians have been killed and injured in the recent attacks on the region. The Turkish state thinks that it will scare us and make us surrender by killing us. We will not leave our lands and surrender. The Turkish state has intensified its attacks on the region on the anniversary of the international conspiracy (against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan) and it is not a coincidence.>
'Women must protect the gains of the revolution'
Nada Al-Cadir has lived in Kobanê since she and her family were displaced from the city of Jarablus by the attacks of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions in 2013. <We had to leave our house in Jarablus due to the attacks. Since then, we have lived in Kobane. We opened a factory named Al-Dayan in Kobanê to earn a living for our family. Our factory has been targeted twice in two months. It was first targeted and damaged on July 5. We rebuilt it; however, it was targeted and damaged again by the Turkish state. The Turkish state targets civilians and their properties. The aim of these attacks is to destroy the security and stability of the region. Women must unite and protect the gains of the revolution.>
'We will keep defending our lands'
Bakra Şengal, another resident of Kobane, thinks the aim of the Turkish state is to depopulate the region. <The Turkish state is afraid of the strong will of women,> she said, <As women of Kobane, our message to the Turkish state, Tayyip Erdogan and the whole world is that we will keep following in leader Ocalan's ideology and thoughts and defending our lands. The people of the region do not need anyone but their own forces.> >>
