<<Displaced woman in Til Temir: The future of our children is at risk
Hasakah- Til Temir, also known as Tell Tamer, is a town in the Hasakah
Canton of North and East Syria. The town has been under Turkish ground
and air attacks for about four years. Education is also affected by
these attacks. There are 128 schools in the town; however, only 76
schools, 66 primary schools, nine secondary schools and a high school,
are open now. The primary schools have 4,004 students, the secondary
schools have 329 students and the high school has 121 students. 16
schools are in the areas occupied by the Turkish state and
Turkish-backed factions and most of these schools are used as military
bases. 13 schools were severely damaged in Turkish airstrikes and they
will remain closed until they are repaired. Internally displaced people
have taken shelter in 23 schools. In the town, families have turned six
houses into schools.
'We have taken shelter in our children's school'
Fatima Al-Ali is a displaced women living in a school in the town with
her eight children since they were forcibly displaced from Menacir
village of Serekaniye (Ras al-Ayn). Speaking about the effects of the
Turkish attacks on the education system and social life in the town, she
said, <The Turkish attacks leave no safe place for us and for our
children. Tayyip Erdoğan forced people to leave their houses. We have
taken shelter in our children's school.>
'This is our country'
Fatima Al-Ali thinks Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdoğan is responsible
for the attacks on North and East Syria.
<Erdoğan says, 'I came here to save the people'. I want to ask him who
and what did you come to save? Did we tell you 'come and save us?' Do
you have any relatives living in Syrian territory? Do your parents live
here? Do you have a house here? This is our country, not yours. If you
attack Kurdish people, we will definitely stand against you. The
Autonomous Administration and our forces fight to protect our country
against ISIS and terrorism. Who did you come here to save? You only
displaced people.>
'Our children have been affected psychologically'
Emphasizing that their children have been affected psychologically from
the occupation and attacks that have been going on for about four years,
Fatima Al-Ali called on the United Nations International Children's
Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to come to the region and see what the children
have been going through. <Most of children have been deprived of
education. The future of our children is at risk. Our children need a
safe shelter and psychological support,> she said.
'UNICEF must fulfill its obligations to children'
Fatima Al-Ali emphasized that displaced children have to live in camps,
villages and schools and called on UNICEF to fulfill its obligations to
displaced children. <The invaders must leave our lands so that children
can return to school. We need an educated generation. We do not want our
children to grow up in these conditions. There are many writings on the
walls of the school. There is a sign saying, 'Hope for the Future'.
Children should do sports and play football with their teachers at the
gym of the school, not hang out the laundry. The writings do not reflect
the reality of our children.> >>

<<Palestinian activist: Women are subjected to torture in Al-Aqsa
Mosque's courtyards
Gaza- The Israel-Palestine conflict that started following <Operation
Al-Aqsa Flood> by Al-Qassam Brigades, military wing of Hamas, has
entered its fourth day. In an interview with NuJINHA, Palestinian
activist Zarifa Abu Qura said that they have not witnessed such an
attack in the Gaza Strip before.
'Civilians, women and children pay the price'
Speaking about the warning of Israel for people living in certain areas
to leave, she said, <Women living in the border areas face a difficult
condition. There is a stampede because people try to flee from these
areas. Many civilians, including children and women, were killed and
injured without receiving any warning. Civilians, women and children pay
the price of this conflict. After the warning of Israel for people
living in certain areas to leave in 10 minutes, women had a difficult
time because mothers did not want to leave their children. This caused a
stampede injuring many people, especially children.>
'Women and girls are subjected to rape and harassment'
Zarifa Abu Qura also said that the main roads connecting the Gaza Strip
to other areas are completely damaged so people cannot go to safe
places. <This situation increases the suffering of women and people with
special needs. Just yesterday, 160 buildings were targeted and destroyed
within hours. The Gaza Strip has become like an abandoned house. The
situation in schools is not better; some of them were targeted in the
airstrikes. We have learned that women and girls are subjected to rape
and harassment in the places they have taken shelter due to the chaos in
the besieged city.>
'There is no safe place for women and girls to take shelter'
Highlighting that there is no safe place for women and girls to take
shelter, she said, <There is no safe place in the Gaza Strip where women
can take shelter, there are no shelters available to protect themselves
from attacks by warplanes and drones. The buildings of some centers and
organizations providing services to women were also targeted. The
Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that some hospitals and
ambulances were also targeted by airstrikes. Since Israel cuts
electricity supplies, generators have been used in hospitals to maintain
essential services. There are many people waiting for treatment in the
courtyards and corridors of hospitals due to the lack of beds.> At the
end of her speech, Zarifa Abu Qura called on the international community
to immediately push both parties to declare a ceasefire and lift the
siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.>>

<<Lawyer Ruşin Hido: We should ensure physical freedom of leader Apo
Shahba- In an interview with NuJINHA, Ruşin Hido, Co-chair of Shahba-Afrin
Lawyers' Union, commented on the 25th anniversary of the international
conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan. She pointed to his
struggle for the freedom of Kurdish people and said, <He has faced
threats because he wants to rescue the oppressed people from the
sovereign powers since the beginning of his struggle. His struggle and
thoughts are legitimate and protect human rights.>
'He offers a perspective on the solution of the problems in the Middle
East'
Ruşin Hido emphasized that Abdullah Ocalan offers many perspectives
regarding the solution of the problems in the Middle East and said,
<However, hegemonic powers see him as a threat against them because his
perspectives do not serve hegemonic powers.> Recalling that Abdullah
Ocalan was brought out of Syria by an international conspiracy, Ruşin
Hido said, <The aim of this conspiracy was to nullify his ideology and
thoughts. 25 years have passed since the international conspiracy and
leader Apo (Abdullah Ocalan) has been held in Imrali prison for 25
years.>
'CPT did not meet with leader Apo'
Pointing to the aggravated isolation imposed on Abdullah Ocalan in
Imrali prison, she said, <In order to prevent his ideology and thoughts
from spreading to the world, no visit has been allowed. International
human rights organizations must fulfill their responsibilities. The
duties of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture
(CPT) include visiting prisons and monitoring the situation of
prisoners. Although the CPT went to Imrali, it did not meet with leader
Apo. The isolation imposed on leader Apo continues in the name of
disciplinary punishment.>
'If people put pressure on the Turkish state, leader Apo will be
released'
Ruşin Hido added, <Self-defense will guarantee leader Apo's freedom. If
people form their self-defense system, leader Apo's wish will be
fulfilled. If people rise up and put pressure on the Turkish state,
leader Apo will be released. We call on all lawyers and people to ensure
the physical freedom of leader Apo in order to have a free life.> >>

<<'The Turkish attack on life sources in NE Syria is a crime against
humanity'
Qamishlo- Since October 5, the Turkish state has targeted the
infrastructure and security of North and East Syria. In an interview
with NuJINHA, Evin Cuma, head of the Human Rights Association Jazeera,
commented on the ongoing Turkish attacks on the region.
'45 service facilities have been targeted' Pointing to the intensified
Turkish attacks on NE Syria, especially on Cizir region since October 5,
Evin Cuma said, <More than 45 facilities providing services to the
people have been targeted until now. Many power plants and oil
refineries have been targeted by the Turkish state and now they are out
of service. All facilities providing services to the people are out of
service now. This causes many problems.>
'The Turkish state has committed war crimes'
Speaking about the ongoing Turkish attacks on NE Syria, Evin Cuma said,
<The Turkish state has committed war crimes. The ongoing Turkish attack
on life sources is a crime against humanity. We call on the Syrian
government and the guarantor states to fulfill their obligations to
protect the sovereignty of the people. According to the laws on war,
these attacks are war crimes because the settlements of civilians are
targeted. This is a crime against humanity. As the Human Rights
Association Jazeera, we strongly condemn the ongoing Turkish attacks.>

<<Call from Karama Square: Let's take to the streets for our rights
Sweida- The peaceful protests erupted in the Druze majority city of
Sweida over the high inflation rate and deteriorating economic situation
in Syria on August 17, 2023 continue on their second months. The people
gathered at Karama Square demand the change of the Syrian government and
a democratic system. Asima Al-Nabwani, one of the women who joined
yesterday's protest, said, <We have gathered here because our children
have to go abroad due to deteriorating economic situation and because
there are many people held in Syrian government's prisons. The arrested
people should be released. Our main demand is to have a life with
dignity. We call on all women in Syria to support the protests, to
demand their rights.> 'We take to the streets to demand our rights'

Mizgin Gutkar
Jinha - Womens News Agency - October 6, 2023 - by SILVA Al-IBRAHIM
<<Politician Mizgin Gutkar: We are ready to share our experiences with
women of Sweida
Manbij- In an interview with NuJINHA, Future Syria Party General Council
member Mizgin Gutkar evaluated two-month protests in Sweida, a mainly
Druze city located in southwestern Syria.
'The people of Sweida never accepted slavery'
Emphasizing that the protests led by women in Sweida are revolutionary
protests, she said, <The people of Sweida, the Druze, have a long
history. They are known for their struggle against injustice and
surrender. Sweida has been the home of revolutionaries since the
beginning of time. When we look at the history of the Druze, we see that
they resisted colonialism and the Egyptian occupation. They joined the
uprising in 1963. During the rule of the Ba'ath Party, they never
accepted surrender, colonialism and slavery>
'Nothing has changed since 2015'
Recalling that the people of Sweida also joined the protests of the Arab
Spring, Mizgin Gutkar said: <The people of Sweida joined the protests
against the Ba'athist regime. However, the Syrian government used
sectarianism to suppress the protests, the uprising, by trying to sow
the seeds of hostility between the Druze and other sects. The government
claimed that the Druze had burned down a mosque. For this reason, the
Druze stopped protesting the regime. When the Syrian crisis broke out,
the security forces of the Syrian government launched arrest operations
against the Druze, causing many to leave the country. The efforts to
improve economic conditions in 2015 stopped the people of Sweida
protesting. However, nothing has changed since 2015. This is what led
the people of Sweida to take to the streets.>
'They demand a democratic system'
Mizgin Gutker said that the people of Sweida have demanded a democratic
system just as the system of the Autonomous Administration of North and
East Syria (AANES). <Since the system of the AANES represents security
and stability, it has a broad repercussion. This system embraces all
people from different nationalities and beliefs. The regions of North
and East Syria are considered the safest and most organized regions
compared to other regions in Syria. The implementation of this system
guaranteeing the freedom of all people requires cooperation. The people
of Sweida have demanded this system to be implemented in their region
because they know that this system is a democratic system.>
'The revolution in Rojava become a model for the women of Sweida'
Mizgin Gutkar underlined that women and children are often considered
particularly vulnerable in conflict, war and disease situations,
<because they protect their societies from disappearing and falling
apart. This century is the century of women; women take up arms to
protect their homeland and people. In North and East Syria, women take
part in all facets of life, including military, politics and social
life. Since women led the revolution in Rojava, this revolution is also
known as women’s revolution. The women of Rojava have become a role
model for all women in the world. The women of Sweida carried
photographs of Hevrin Khalaf during the protests and chanted slogans
supporting the resistance of the women of North and East Syria and Iran.
This shows how they are impressed by the women of Rojava.> Mizgin Gutkar
expressed their solidarity with the women of Sweida and said, <The
protests in Sweida are led by women. We are ready to support them and
share our experiences with them. They should be determined to demand a
democratic system.> >>

Washokani
Jinha - Womens News Agency - October 6, 2023
<<Washokani camp under attack: Silence means cooperation
Hasakah- After the attack that took place in front of the General
Directorate of Security of Turkey's Ministry of the Interior in Ankara
on October 1, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan claimed that the
assailants had received training in Syria. Since then, the Turkish state
has intensified its airstrikes on North and East Syria. Turkish
airstrikes have targeted infrastructure, superstructure facilities and
power plants in North and East Syria. One of the targeted places is the
Washokani camp, a IDPs camp hosting displaced people of Serekaniye (Ras
al-Ayn), which was occupied by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed
factions in 2019. Condemning the Turkish airstrikes, women living in the
camp describe the Turkish airstrikes as the continuation of the
international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan on
October 9, 1998.
'We chose to resist'
Xelat Xelil, a resident of the camp, thinks the Turkish attacks target
the security and resistance of the displaced people. <Due to the Turkish
attacks, we have lived as displaced people for four years. We have faced
many difficulties for four years. We stay here so that we can return to
our homeland one day. The Turkish state aims to displace us again by
targeting the camp. We are not afraid of the attacks; we chose to resist
and we will resist to the end. Today, the children in the camp
experienced the occupation day again. Where are the children's
organizations? The silence against the attacks is the continuation of
the international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, the
Kurdish people and their identity in 1998.>
'Silence means cooperation'
Reacting to the Turkish attacks, Fatma Elî said, <Silence means
cooperation.> Speaking on the ongoing Turkish airstrikes, she said,
<Children are in fear. My daughter has been crying since the first day
of the airstrikes. We condemn the Turkish attacks. The Turkish
occupation state aims to change the demographic structure of the region
and revive the Ottoman Empire. The international community keeps silent
against these attacks. Silence means cooperation.> >>

<<'We will not stop until we rescue all Yazidi women held captive by
ISIS'
Hasakah- Founded in 2012 in North and East Syria's Hasakah city, the
Yazidi House makes efforts to rescue all Yazidi women and children held
captive by ISIS. NuJINHA spoke to Nalin Raşo, member of the Yazidi House
about their activities.
'We have worked to rescue Yazidi women and children'
<The Yazidi House was established in 2012 to unite all Yazidis and solve
problems faced by Yazidis,> Nalin Reşo said, <On August 3, 2014, ISIS
attacked Shengal, killing, displacing and abducting thousands of
civilians. The crimes committed by ISIS against the Yazidi community are
recognized as a genocide by many countries. Since 2014, the Yazidi House
has worked to rescue Yazidi women and children held captive by ISIS. By
working in coordination with the people of Shengal, we try to identify
and rescue all abducted women and children.>
The house provides psychological and moral support
Talking about thousands of Yazidi women and children in al-Hol camp,
Nalin Raşo said, <Yazidi women in the camp receive death threats. They
remain silent because they are afraid of ISIS women in the camp. Some
are afraid for their children; some have been subjected to violence. The
women, who were rescued in the camp, suffer from psychological problems.
The rescued Yazidi women tell us the atrocity of ISIS. We aim to
reintegrate them into the Yazidi community by providing psychological
and moral support to them.>
'We aim to rescue all Yazidi women and children held captive by ISIS'
In her speech, Nalin Reşo emphasized that they would not stop until we
rescued all Yazidi women held captive by ISIS. <We look for abducted
Yazidi women and children in al-Hol camp and other regions by working
coordinately with our local sources. Recently, a Yazidi woman was
rescued from the captivity of ISIS in the city of Idlib, occupied by the
Turkish state. There are many Yazidi women, who are sold in slave
markets in the region occupied by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed
factions. We do our best to reach them.> Emphasizing that the Yazidi
women will continue to fight all forms of violence and oppression, Nalin
Reşo said, <We aim to find and rescue all Yazidi women. We aim to unite
all Yazidis living in different countries. The Yazidi people should
return to their homeland so that we can prevent another genocide from
