<<Al Jazeera calls for global solidarity to prosecute killers of Shireen Abu Akleh.
Doha: One hundred days have passed since the brutal and targeted killing of Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, in Palestine, by the Israeli occupation forces. The cold-blooded assassination of Shireen sparked international condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces' attempts to silence the media by killing journalists.
Evidence has revealed the extent to which the Israeli occupation forces went in attempting to falsify the narrative in order to evade international censure and prosecution. Within the past 100 days, independent investigations were commissioned by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and conducted by renowned international media outlets. The investigations all reached the same conclusion: Confirming the eyewitness accounts that Shireen was killed by the Israeli occupation forces. Such conclusions reinforce the assertions of Al Jazeera Media Network and the Abu Akleh family that Shireen was deliberately targeted by the Israeli occupation forces. Supported by these findings, Al Jazeera continues to call for an independent and impartial international investigation. As part of its global campaign to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of Shireen and reveal the truth to the world, Al Jazeera Media Network has mobilised international legal experts to submit a case file to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague. To mark 100 days since the assassination of Shireen, the network organised solidarity vigils at its headquarters in Doha and across its offices around the world in which Shireen's colleagues participated.>>

<<US not seeking independent probe into killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.
A top US official has stated that Washington does not support such an investigation, despite rising requests for one into the shooting death of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed by Israeli soldiers in May. Senator Chris Van Hollen expressed concerns that the incident is <not getting the attention it deserves> during a hearing on Thursday, grilling Barbara Leaf, assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, over how the Biden administration has handled the situation. The Maryland Democrat Van Hollen informed Leaf that Secretary of State Antony Blinken had previously demanded an <independent, credible investigation> into the death of the seasoned journalist, who was an American citizen. <Just a simple yes-or-no question, is that still the position of the Biden administration?> Van Hollen asked. <We have asked that there be a credible investigation,> Leaf responded, seeming to correct him. When pressed further, she added: <I will have to come back to you on that, senator, because that has not been my understanding of where our position was.>
Back in June, Blinken said Washington was calling for an <independent> probe into the killing. <When that investigation happens, we will follow the facts, wherever they lead. It's as straightforward as that,> he said. Back in June, Blinken said Washington was calling for an <independent> probe into the killing. <When that investigation happens, we will follow the facts, wherever they lead. It's as straightforward as that,> he said. The Biden administration's initial strategy, which claimed that Israel has the <wherewithal and the capabilities to conduct a thorough, comprehensive investigation,> has since changed, but the State Department has retracted its statement, telling Al Jazeera that there has been <no change.>
Advocates for Palestinian rights, who contend that Israel cannot be trusted to look into its own abuses, were offended by that stance.>>

Opinion by Gino d'Artali: As I wrote before it was the US that sold out Palestina after WW2 to a new country to be 'founded': Israel.
